In my country there's no woodpecker drill guide locator i cannot afford it because its made in usa. You can buy online but made in china this one is much better than mine because its made of aluminum but mine is made of plastic the only metal is the rods.

Use a center punch/spring loaded punch before lining up with bit in place. Press drill with bit down to see if off center.

Did you ever upgrade the chuck and if so what brand did you buy? I bought one of these autoline drill guides also from cartoolshop and it just arrived today. The rod without the spring is not tapered and the up and down motion is not very smooth. I'm going to try and put some grease on the rods it to see if it slides a bit smoother. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting much but there is no way I could afford to pay for a Woodpecker auto-line, they are just way out of my price range. Great review!

I never did upgrade the chuck, i did not think mine has enough play in it to need an upgrade. If yours is the same as mine, then the non spring rod is not tapered. The rod has a flat spot that slowly transitions to no flat spot and that is how the stop is secured. I have used the rockler plastic drill guide that cost more, and i would take mine over it. I have been very happy with the autoline compared to what I paid.

@@friedgizzard Mine is slightly different. The Fence is about half the size of yours, the screws at the top of the rods is just about the same diameter as the rods, maybe an 1/8" bigger, the rod without the spring is round all the way around from top to bottom and doesn't have a flat spot on it, and the biggest difference is the housing on my chuck is plastic. That's the reason why I was asking if you ever decided to upgrade your chuck. I'm going to upgrade my chuck, I'm not a fan of the plastic housing. Any suggestions on a brand to check out to upgrade the chuck?

I wonder if these are rejected woodpeckers "genuine" parts.

Except for the threads the quality is very high so they could be.

I thought Woodpeckers make/mill off of their parts in OHIO. Not sure how rejects wood make it China. LEVOITE has a Woodpeckers Autoline knock off as well.
