This is a tricky one. As I start to see the energy of my body, thoughts, emotions, memories- they start to become more raw and neutral when they are not stuck. As energy, any given thought, impulse, feeling, are in a way neither good nor bad. When we have freed up any stuck points, then we find we have a great deal of control over this energy- I can direct it, I can store it, I can use it to heal myself or others, or just let it go. Each has a corresponding set of techniques, it is not as if we sit on a huge battery and galvanically act out some random evil compulsion. The first stage is a Buddhist technique of meditation- you observe your thought then label it. "Oh, I'm having an x thought, a y thought..." Then you just let it go. The most important thing is to find a good teacher who has gotten into this work, which is meditative, mental and physical to do. Good practice to all, may we realize our way.
I'm always trying to be open to new ways of handling one's shadow. What's yours? Mine is below: I actively take responsibility for my thoughts and actions when reflecting upon evil deeds ive done in recent history. If it's particularly bad....i'll write it in my journal and break down the 'why' behind that deed or thought. After that, I write down a number of options to figure out a way to prevent it from repeating or integrate it into my life more gracefully. It consumes a lot of time (and that's what I need help fixing), but the insight I gain is priceless.
I don’t know if this would apply to everyone. My own integration was expedited by a serious breakdown but, no matter how I tried, I could not forge a malleable alloy within. Just a lumpy, dented, imperfect mass much like myself. The two week crisis left me exhausted, heart hammering and unable to speak - all I could do was keep trying. I never imagined that the key would be laughter. But of course it was. Transmuted that lead to gold in a curious alchemy which sublimed to vapour and filled the vessel. I now know the guardian angel and a personal demon’s got my back - you am I. “The comedy within tragedy is that we think we have any control at all” - Nava

What make jews so special? Why are we not allowed to go to heaven? Is Jung not in heaven then? Let religion out of this and stop playing the victim card. We have seen it for millenias

@@JD-cz2urProbably put their pride aside and accepted that there's evil in them and humbled by that and knowing themself, they learnt from their mistakes and got better
A very clear and measured contribution to the dbate around good and evil. It is certainly a challenge for all of us to accept our darker side and not to be overwhelmed by it.
There is a difference between acknowledging the dark side in ourselves, being aware of it and acting upon it. There is nothing to discover by playing out the dark side. Many people have acted upon their evil thoughts and regretted it. But acknowledgment in order to deal with it in a healthy way is a whole other thing. Like going on a self discovery journey to find out the reasons behind some dark motives or urges. And that is what religion is all about but has failed to imply in our everyday life by taking over the role of God and judging people. If we leave the right to judge to God and witness ourselves as flawed human beings there would be no oppression. But there should be limits to this. If we don’t give ourselves the right to judge bad behavior to some extent, especially that, which is harmful to society, like murder for instance, we are signing up to the doom of the human race.
Harry Potter reference.... Sirius Black said, "We both have light and darkness inside of us, but that's not what we are, we are what we chose to act upon" Dumbledore said, "Its not our abilities that define us, its our choices"
There is a lot misunderstood about the Shadow. In the east it is just called the yin and the yang. In the west it is good and evil, but the truth is people who consider themselves “good” are usually the ones hiding from their darkness, their reality is unbalanced. Integrating the Shadow, is like taking a child by the hand. Think about it like this, without the Sun, without Light we wouldn’t have a Shadow, the same principle applies. Thank you for this wonderful video and your words!
A good way I've come to understand this is with the Star Wars lore. This will sound nerdy, but in Star Wars Episode 3 where Mace Windu basically defeats Palpatine, he's able to do so because he understands, and can tap into, his dark side which allowed him to, for lack of a better term, unleash himself and ultimately defeat Palpatine.
In my opinion I feel like a perfect example of the “ shadow “ is the fictional character known as the Mask, the one from the comics published by Dark Horse Comics, and film starring Jim Carrey. As I rewatched the movie after years of not seeing it,after watching your video on the “shadows” it became an easy and clear example to see the references of such things in the film and looking into the darker version of the character within the comics. Thankyou again for your videos, watch at least one everyday 🙏🏻👌🏻🌎
I can’t even explain how much I needed to hear this today. It was a bit eerie to listen because all day I have been pondering things you mentioned in this video. Thank you for this
Jung’s shadow concept was his elaboration of Judeo-Christianity’s concept of our fallen nature. My experience of Christ’s perfect love has given me the courage to see and accept my fallen nature - my shadow . Christ also helps me integrate this shadow in so many remarkable and unexpected ways so that I can more consistently live His higher standards and find joy! It is a perfect and loving plan!
This video came right on time. I just came back from a cruise with my family, and although I always try to do the right thing, I'm also very different from them and ended up by myself most of the time during the cruise. I embraced being myself and exploring the islands we visited at the expense of not seeing them. It upset them, but their contempt isn't going to stop me from embracing myself, even though even now that we came back they're not talking to me because of judgement (despite all the crazy stuff they did) and no acceptance of my individuality.
Fine as ever Mr. E but surely it's worth mentioning, at least, the fact that some shadow elements by necessity require control if not outright suppression for the general good. Much to be said here ; the subject demands another of your videos. Incidentally, thank you so much for not ruining your efforts with the unnecessary and distracting background music that plagues so many RUclips videos these days.
Good morning, Einzelgänger. I’m a fan of your channel. It’d be awesome if you can make a video regarding Forgiveness. I know you tackled how to let go of resentment, and the practice of letting go, but I think it’s essential to shed light on the key steps to forgive our enemies. Cause in my experience, people telling you that you should forgive and reminding you of the benefits of forgiveness don’t help you to actually forgive. You need some pointers as to where to start the inner work towards forgiveness. In my case, I’m at least identifying the injustices I’ve committed towards me and others, and the injustices people have done to me, so I can know what I’m forgiving when I am ready to do so.
That's what I thought was so arrogant about the Jedi in the Star Wars movies: if you only know the Light and are denied to experience the Dark then you'll simply never be complete and will only see half of the truth. It was nice that they exposed this in The Last Jedi, where Luke Skywalker admitted this and Yoda showed him that there's more to wisdom than reading books and dogmatic thinking. No one is inherently "evil": it's our actions and how they are perceived by ourselves and others that make us "evil"; it's completely subjective and completely depends on our own, very limited, point of view.
TimMer1981 Not to argue your point because I agree with almost every you said even the Star Wars analysis. The only thing that I can’t agree with is saying that some people aren’t inherently “evil” It’s mainly because I’ve seen them and they lack a level of consciousness for humanity. Maybe they weren’t born to be this way but some even as young kids were cruel. This is more of a question to the void but please answer if you have one. How is it some people that do evil things most of their life without any empathy and a complete lack human compassion aren’t inherently “evil”? Just curious and open to reconsider my thinking.
@@peacelove6817 I understand completely where you're coming from and I agree with you, BUT... My point was that "evil" is a point of view, an opinion, not a fact, as some like to present it. It's happening more and more nowadays that people confuse opinion/judgement with fact (not you, I understand your point). Lots of people even call others "nazis" simply because they disagree with them: to me that's just insane and utterly disrespectful to the victims of the nazis; it also shows a huge lack of historical, political and factual knowledge and a total lack of respect, compassion and intelligence. What you're talking about are psychopaths (which lots of the real nazis were if you ask me), which most people would deem "evil". My point would be: it's "simply" a biological defect in the brain, faulty wiring from the start, sometimes with huge consequences. In "nature versus nurture", this is the "nature" part. I do believe in true evil however, but not in physical form: then we're talking spirituality/paranormal, which is not the darkness we're talking about here; whole other level. If you take it even a couple of steps further, you might say not even total lack of compassion and respect for life would merit an "evil" judgment from each and every person: lots of people see disease and wars as Mother Nature's cleanup crew. Harsh? Probably, according to most. But harsh is also just an opinion, not a fact. This is not about my personal opinion on these matters, just my observations on the facts. I think lots of people are "evil", but I know this is my personal opinion, not a fact.
TimMer1981 I completely agree that the term evil and other derogatory names such as “nazi” are being thrown around to win an argument. It truly is disrespectful to the actual victims of such horrific evil committed against them. I enjoyed reading your response as I can see your point of “nature versus nurture” when referencing people that may become evil or have some biological defect. I do also believe there is a spiritual element to evil that can reside in people that do heinous things. Not as a form of excuse “the devil made me do it” I believe those individuals have given way to a depraved mind. Thank you for your feedback. I can see that there are certainly different elements of evil that corrupt an individual and it’s certainly not a term I think that should be tossed around to gain an advantage in an argument. In my opinion it should be reserved for its intended meaning.
Thank you einzelganger a lot your videos have helped me and changed me a lot am currently in a one week stoic schedule, I thank you so much, please keep up the good work.I now understand why you get all the support😊.I hope to one day meet you
I feel like there should be a disclaimer and I don't much like "shoulds": Jung highly recommended firmly establishing oneself in their life, cultivating many tethers, before sustained attempts at individuation were attempted. It's our responsibility (after childhood, whatever that looks like for the individual) to make sure we have healthy-ish lol relationships (not abusive, but not so easy you never stretch out your consciousness, no one is perfect) just as it's our responsibility to drink water and eat well. Jung defines an "individual" pysche as asymmetric, we are functionally diverse, just as you would suspect a more complicated ant colony to express and be structured. We don't just need each other, WE ARE EACH OTHER. Besides, when you cultivate diverse relationships with others who are attempting to see themselves (comes in so many forms, hard to recognize if you're repressing) you are already well on your way, while creating the "field" you need. Attempting this without tethers to this world can lead to delusion, confusion, and death. It's an especially good time, energetically, for refinement of our seeing. Not real conscious of what I mean yet, but damn if we aren't in a very productive sociological current right now🥰 Thank you to all of you working hard at seeing yourselves. Your work may seem invisible at times, but it is more real than the non-essential perceptions of reality that stand in our way. Give yourself what you need, because we need you. 💓
Thank you for the video. It is on point with something I realized about myself a while ago. Which also makes me wonder why I picked a certain Marvel character as my favorite when I was younger. Your video is the way I view Venom. Someone who struggled with the dark and then embraces it. Although my point of view is different than what the character is, it's just my allegory for what I dealt with. Again, thanks!
I stole a book out the library in high school (2012) because the coral color and golden words on the spin. It’s called Man and His Symbols. I’ve used it to decorate my book shelf or coffee table. I’ve never read it through only flipped through pages and today I’ve only just noticed the author is Carl G. Jung.. I feel immense guilt about stealing this book.. maybe it was coincidence but I’m now committing to read it and no longer suppress my emotions and condemn this book to a shelf. By me opening up this book I am also opening up my shadow. This just got deep... lol

I've recovered completely from major depressive disorder and what I credit most to that recovery is facing ALL my shadows.
I'm always trying to be open to new ways of handling one's shadow.
What's yours?
Mine is below:
I actively take responsibility for my thoughts and actions when reflecting upon evil deeds ive done in recent history.

I love my evil. I love my goodness. I love the darkness, and the light's quite alright!
7:45. Expose fears. See aggression. Confront creativity. Be without judgement. Great video!
Creativity is something that must be encouraged in everyone. This is the way to solve problems.

Yo, I stumbled upon this channel a few months ago and I can't thank you enough for putting together these types of videos and providing a new perspective to the world and myself. Shit has been going on in my life (as well as everyone elses) but these videos and this philosophy has been instrumental in helping me along and changing me for the better. I'm also so sorry for your loss.
“All do-gooders are Troublemakers.” Alan Watts
This applies so very well today with the far left
@@3therspark63 that doesn't make the far right saints either
Trouble needs to be made. Otherwise, how would we know we were happy if we are always happy? Without the left there would be no right. Without knowing what you don’t like, you don’t know what you do like.

Jung was a visionary and ahead of his time. I really enjoy reading his work.
He also was kinda crazy tho haha
Genius is akin to madness
Skinnyectomorph how so lol
@friendly Jew I dont mean his work in particular but he also wrote some anti-semitic texts and aligned with the nazis which was kinda disappointing to find out
Here we go... everything can be criticise but the jews. Let genius be genius let people be free let people fail god damn it. The chosen ones... how do you know? Pisses me off. What make jews so special? Why are we not allowed to go to heaven? Is Jung not in heaven then? Let religion out of this and stop playing the victim card. We have seen it for millenias
This makes so much sense to me I've started understanding this and it's put my mind at ease all my life I've tried to be perfect to do good repress everything ignore my bad sides like they don't exist. Honesty with yourself will do great things at the end of the day only you can understand yourself.
After my divorce 8 years ago, I embraced my fear and dark with ferocity. Best thing, hardest thing ever, but worth every minute of it
What does this mean? How did you embrace the dark?
@@JD-cz2urProbably put their pride aside and accepted that there's evil in them and humbled by that and knowing themself, they learnt from their mistakes and got better
That was one of the most amazing sunsets of the past years in the Netherlands!
Einzelganger, I love your shared insights and video quality! You are the best. Thank You for sharing!! 💜
Embrace the shadow, it wishes you growth for it is also you
A very clear and measured contribution to the dbate around good and evil.
If we leave the right to judge to God
and witness ourselves as flawed human beings there would be no oppression.
But there should be limits to this.
If we don’t give ourselves the right to judge bad behavior to some extent, especially that, which is harmful to society, like murder for instance, we are signing up to the doom of the human race.
The hardest thing in human life is to struggle against ourselves!!so the solution is to accept ourselves first!!and then flowing with life!!
Harry Potter reference....
Sirius Black said, "We both have light and darkness inside of us, but that's not what we are, we are what we chose to act upon"
Dumbledore said, "Its not our abilities that define us, its our choices"
I hope you fine, im sorry for your loss, Take care, Lot's of love !
This channel sets the bar for RUclips production and quality.
The force give it and the force take it away.
I am learning a lot from this channel.
Love your videos! Stay strong, friend.💪🏼💪🏼 We’re here for you whenever you need.
i start my days with your videos. keeps me grounded and more level headed. thank you so much.
Embrace it and be at one with it 🌼🌞🌻
accepting that everything is true of me can make us tolerant
@@peacelove6817 Totally agree.
Integrating the shadow in our daily lives might not be legal or moral. Keep that in mind. Not everyone can let their shadows out.
Awesome perspective. Needs deep thinking but really helpful to those who have been there, in that dilemma of good vs bad in themselves.
You really are an underrated creator. Each and every one of your videos is incredible. Thank you.
After watching Joker, I see the logical explanation. Thank you Einzel!
Love your videos bro, they help me understand myself and the world a little better, keep fighting the good fight.

Awesome video explaining what The Shadow is and what it's integration means!
Some supress the Rascal, others give it free reign. Neither is whole, neither is truly human. 💚 🧙♂️

I feel like there should be a disclaimer and I don't much like "shoulds":
Jung highly recommended firmly establishing oneself in their life, cultivating many tethers, before sustained attempts at individuation were attempted.
Not real conscious of what I mean yet, but damn if we aren't in a very productive sociological current right now🥰
Thank you to all of you working hard at seeing yourselves. Your work may seem invisible at times, but it is more real than the non-essential perceptions of reality that stand in our way. Give yourself what you need, because we need you. 💓
Thank you for your work. It really is very important and incredibly helpful. ❤️
Reminds me of how some old cartoons have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other
Wow I really needed to hear this. Thank god I clicked this video...you have a new sub as well. Thank you for making this.
Thank you!!!
Thank you
needed this ❤ thank you for inspiring me with every video you make

Life is all memory
I stole a book out the library in high school (2012) because the coral color and golden words on the spin. It’s called Man and His Symbols. I’ve used it to decorate my book shelf or coffee table. I’ve never read it through only flipped through pages and today I’ve only just noticed the author is Carl G. Jung.. I feel immense guilt about stealing this book.. maybe it was coincidence but I’m now committing to read it and no longer suppress my emotions and condemn this book to a shelf. By me opening up this book I am also opening up my shadow. This just got deep... lol
Thank you so much for this video, I’m studying for an exam and i found it really helpful!
So we need to embrace our darkness?
Sounds like new things to this world
