Fun fact: Seigi got the second rarest encounter in the entire game. While the Ghost girl normally only appears on the hardest 3 moons, there is a 0.4% chance of her appearing on Experimentation and an even lower chance on Assurance.
Wait, so I got super lucky? I died to her like 5 days in a row on experimentation. That’s insane.
@serventium4049 yep. There is an extremely small chance when you just start out a new run, that the Ghost girl can be on Experimentation or Assurance. And the chance of her appearing is extremely low, on top of the hidden sanity mechanic not yet kicking in.

A Bit of a spoiler on how shrimp works if anyone wants to know.
It will follow players around once it has spotted them, it will eventually start to get hungry and try to eat the player, you can prevent this by feeding it scrap.

Dougs question: the scariest monster is the little girl. No one else can see her, and when you first see her, you have no idea what she is capable of. I would say that the thumper or spider are mainly jumpscare monsters.
Plus if the other players are new, they think you’re crazy

she is scary until you know how she works. basically, if you see her more then twice i think it is, she starts to hunt to kill you. she can only spawn a certain distance away, so if you are looking at the interior of the ship you should be fine. she never hunts unless you look at her.
to answer dougs question personally I think that the bracken is the scariest it may not be the most powerful monster but just the fact that it appears basically out of nowhere every time and unlike the coil head that has a very easy and predictable way to stop it The bracken is not the same
especially cus I have VSS (visual snow syndrome) and the static I see makes night vision worse, and can make any small dots cover or move so I cant tell if bracken is there or if I am looking at it besides when its bright near me (i didn't have a flashlight when doing multiplayer and first encountering the bracken)
i just play with no monsters on cus my vision is not good with screens especially

QOTD: honestly when i first learnt about the shy guy when i was on my SCP kick i've always been terrified of him so i would have to say the shy guy lol. when he first appeared in one of these videos i was really unsettled by his screaming, he has been the scariest monster imo since then

Spore lizards are frightening if you don't know what they do, imagine first playing the game and that being the first thing you encounter, since its a horror game and it has a huge mouth, you think it will attack you because of the jumpscare it causes. They redeem a certain stress first encounter then don't become a problem once finding out. Also they are scary because the smoke makes it so you can't see anything.
When i first played with my friends it was terrifying as we are all cowards and it was the first enemy we encountered, then we saw a bracken which squad wiped us traumatizing us

I had a Shy Guy spawn outside on Embrion once and I was ship guy, I literally saw that man WALK TOWARD THE SHIP ON THE MONITOR. I put my nose against the wall and he came up RIGHT BEHIND ME.

To answer dougs question, i'd have to say the Jester. Especially when someone else triggered him. You randomly hear a lot of stomping, followed by some scary noises, and all of the sudden, you get jumpscared by a massive skull coming towards you going mach 5.

Jester, specifically when it either blocks a door or when your too deep to escape, running around with no clue of where to go as you hear the music get faster, knowing you can't survive this encounter then... silence... and the footsteps slowly getting faster and soon you will be in it's presence, it's cold, terrifying embrace. You know your too far deep to be found and you know you will not be spared, and you will not be saved

Doug’s Question: Probably the Bracken. Knowing one is around makes me paranoid. They’re very good at sneaking up on you and their AI is cracked. They always snatch up your crewmates so fast that you have no time to react. It’s horrifying to turn around to see your friend is just gone without a trace.
I think you can feed shrimp scrap to pacify it once it gets hostile
Dougs question: I think that the scariest monster is the ghost girl beacuse shes basically playing with the victims brain, since no one else can see her except the victim she choose. Shes showing herself for a while and then she just disappears and comes back at certain times, also its really bad when shes showing herself while u are inside because you might be in danger of the coil head or some other enemies.
To answer Doug’s question; I personally think that the forest keepers are the scariest. You’re walking back to the ship when it’s dark and you suddenly hear heavy footsteps coming your way. Once they see you there’s no stopping them until they swallow you whole.

The Jester is almost certainly the scariest as a first encounter, and the Ghost girl in concept, but the only monster that really still scares me is the Bracken. Mostly jumpscares.
Doug's question: While many say the Ghost Girl is the scariest, she isn't that scary once you know how to deal with her. So I have to say the Bracken is the scariest due to the sheer paranoia that everyone starts going through once they see there's one around. To this day, rounding the corner to a Bracken still makes me jump out of my seat.

Doug’s qotd: design wise, I think it’s the jester. That huge skull held up by a tall column of meat popping out of a box is just so awful, not even mentioning the humanoid legs and hand sticking out of the box. In game though, taking in mechanics as well, coil head, hands down. I cannot function if 2 or more start following me. After being traumatized by the endos in security breach, anything running on weeping angel movement turns me into the biggest baby.

Nobody told them that the Bracken room is whatever room is just farthest from main entrance? The backrooms reference room is not the Bracken room, UNLESS it is the room farthest from the main entrance.

Giant is scariest for me simply because as it is right now, once it chases you, you're basically done for. Most other monsters have some work around, but Giant workarounds either require an inventory space for a grenade which MAY save you, or rely on a teammate who may not be paying attention.
This just reminded me of the yippee merch and I got myself a Tshirt! I can’t wait. I have Tourette’s and the yippee that the Lootbugs make is one of my tics!❤
Doug's QotD: Base game? Thumpers, if only because, if given enough room, they'll literally zoom in a straight line as the speed of light. Modded? The Fiend, if only because he doesn't simply open the doors, he knocks the damn things off their hinges!
One time I was hosting a public lobby and someone shoved everything in the ceiling. I tested it, you actually can do this without mods.

DQOTD: I’m not sure, but I honestly think the nutcracker. Sure, it’s not as scary first glance as the rest of the monsters here, but in most of your lethal company videos, it’s taken around 10 lives, maybe more or less. The most vivid nutcracker moments are Max controlling a nutcracker and murdering his ENTIRE crew, and the one in the dungeon.
Also the shy guy. You know you fudged up when it starts screaming because you looked at it.
DQOTD: coil heads. Weeping Angel type enemies in games, movies, or tv series are my least favorite simply because of how scary they are.
