My History With Dahlias...... Planting Dahlias I Pre-Sprouted From A Seed!
Today, we planted our Cafe Au Lait and Romance mix dahlias that we pre-sprouted for the first time, as well as the Floret Bees' Choice dahlias we started from seed. Back in 2019 when we moved into our first house, I eagerly bought blooming dahlias from a garden center and planted them, only to see them die a few months later. I didn’t realize then that dahlias are like potatoes with tubers that can be dug up and saved for future planting. I ended up discarding valuable tubers, thinking they were just dead plants.
This year, however, I've learned from my mistakes. We sprouted the tubers, and they grew into beautiful plants. I've also been cautious about planting them in an area safe from Fuji, our dog, and away from gophers that infest our property.
