In this video, I gave my friends, that do game development, some challenges in the Geometry Dash editor. I wanted to see if their skills could translate into GD since many creators like Spu7nix and YoReid are pushing the editor to it's limits, creating entire games or 3D engines.
If you enjoyed this video, please consider subscribing or sharing this video around, it took a ton of time to create and it's definitely my best one!

Now I know how recent tab levels are made
Nah 💀

Ok
17:52 really summarizes the gd editor very well
TRUEEE
@@masterflick2669 That’s why Viprin and the other elder mods wrote a ~200 page editor guide and useful help info for all the triggers for 2.2
What? It's just a popup?
@@TheArtDev There is no information on the help popup thats whats happening
try it again in 2.2
it has over 80+ triggers and has an "if" trigger which is famous for programming/ game designing
it has platformer mode too where you can move left right and everything with sound effects you can add too
im excited
I agree
yes@@crafty_strangers
If it ever сums out
@@David280GGit’ll never come or as you said “cum”
it will come out i promise, just i hope it will be announced soon because we will have no time soon for november@@David280GG
Great video! Thank you for the opportunity to be in it! 😎 Also thanks for sharing our game ❤️
we stan kvark
i face palmed so hard
@@darealgreyskaleur comment made me face palm even harder
ur typo made me facepalm@@smallxplosion9546
Palms have faces?
The Geometry Dash level editor having no abstraction for triggers is exactly why Spu7Nix created his own programming language called SPWN which does exactly that.
What's abstraction?
@@TheArtDev The ability to deal with concepts and ideas rather than events. In simpler terms, it means to combine multiple fundamental concepts into a different higher-leveled (and often simpler, more encompassing) concept. Think of like how we abstract the concept of "contact" to mean when boundaries of objects' are touching each others', when in reality this concept can be broken down into the realm of more complicated particle physics and whatnot.
In conventional programming, you could created functions to help solve similar-looking problems without having to custom-write it every time you encounter a problem of the same type. That is an example of abstraction.
What the original comment is saying is that GD, unlike conventional programming, doesn't provide that kind of abstraction for higher-leveled concepts like camera effects or real-time object size scaling - those had to be done by the creators themselves by combining more fundamental triggers and objects together. With abstraction, you could do it easily - like, say, in just one trigger that encompasses the idea of camera effects or object-scaling, and you could simply change number parameters to customize the effects without the hassle of dealing with multiple objects and triggers.

> discovering "zig-zag"
> making the hardest thing ever
5:53 from now on im calling the cube „the normal”
10:24 “Spawn Triggered”
Triggers upon player spawning, of course.
Just like the way Touch Triggered triggers the effect instantly.
I feel you, man. I had no clue how to use touch triggered when I began in 1.7
we've all been there 🤝
Yeah that's what i thought it meant as well
Well isn't it great then that touch triggered was only added in 2.1
Now we need "GD creators try using game engines"
the guy building underneath the ground hurt me SO BAD to watch 😭
You have summoned the entire gd community with this video
maybe because hes a gd youtuber?
Ikr
Who knew a interesting and unique gd video would attract gd players
Geometry Dash or Game Dev?
I can't believe a gd RUclipsr making a gd videos attracts gd players

That "What??" reaction was filled with so much genuine confusion that it became an AOE status.
I had the same reaction back in the day when I first tried the rotate trigger, pure confusion, it made no sense.
Here's a tip:
Make sure to enable most editor settings but not hide bg or swipe cycle and enable max rows and columns as it means you scroll less; don't forget the side options too.
swipe cycle is useful
@@dragonfruitrealyeah better than hold for swipe
was so interesting to see how intuitive is the editor for people with experience on the development, great video man:)
thanks a lot!
You totally should've shown them some modern levels and get their reaction
make this same exact video when 2.2 releases. best idea ever
This is a really cool video idea!
Thanks a ton! Really happy that you like it!
i like how they learned faster how to use triggers than me
really cool to see the first impressions of non gd players on the gd editor with them being experienced with game dev stuff, awesome video
This is about to be one of the videos of geometry dash before 2.2. Great job!
bro forgot part of his sentence
@@bluqyHe's not wrong though, it is one of the videos in Geometry Dash before 2.2
2:15 was absolute gold☠️
Really interesting to see how experienced game developers tackle the somewhat sporadic setup of the Geometry Dash editor, especially having been in the community since 2014 and struggling with the editor myself!
this video feels so nostalgic for me. like it reminds me of learning the editor and how even today i still have much to learn. great video 👍👍
Good job všem!
yeah the empty trigger help was awesome LOL
Really fun video, y'all should give it a try again when update 2.2 releasing this month. There's way more tools to be messing around, and one of the biggest one is the new game type "platformer"
Oh and btw, maybe you should do some reaction, like gamedev react to some GD custom levels that community made :)
Who actually knows if it would come out this month 😕 but we are rooting for RubRub to not push it back
@@ExtremeVoidpkmnhe’s probably about 80% done with dash
This is a really interesting video... I love it so much! It was really funny how they slowly figured out how to use the editor. I don't regret watching this video at all! It's a little ironic that I've been playing this game for years yet they know more 😅 Despite just starting, they were all creative, and I'm very impressed with how they were able to build their ideas in such a unique way! I hope they try it out again when 2.2 comes out so they can create awesome levels and see what they can do with the unlimited possibilities!
Maybe we could try it again, but odds are that the 2.2 editor is gonna be way too insane for them lol, happy that you enjoyed the video and gl with your levels!
4:19 NAH THIS IS DEATH CORRIDOR
Very interesting and fun video! I saw a tweet showing the "help button reaction" XD
I’ve thought of rotating spikes from of the screen into a certain spot where you would want the player to jump (using both the “Rotate” trigger and “Move trigger”) (they would also be rotated back to 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°.
However, NEVER have I thought rotated spikes that remain slanted (Stamp 7:46) would look awesome, until I watched this video.
When 2.2 comes out, they're gonna have way more possibilities
and way more struggles :P
Wellllll?
@@neurotoxinc that's NOW
Amazing content video, I hope this video will blow up, you deserve it :)
Thanks a lot h0ry! 🐈
You should help them with interface, because it's just look so painful, when they don't do something, because they don't know that they can do it. Or just give before first build a bit time.
I wanted to kinda show their reactions and first thoughts in the video, later on they actually got better. Also I asked them if they need help in each of the rounds and stuff, just kinda goes to show that for beginners it's quite hard to adapt lol
I got a seizure reading this.
This is very cool tbh, i loved their creativity and how they discover the creation tool
Amazing video, finally somebody did this
Thanks a lot!
I really like that prism bossfight near the end of the video, so i might actually make a layout including it as a bossfight
Might send it to u when im done
Loved to see the creativity from people that had no idea how the editor works jet. Awesome video!
This was so much fun! Finished watching and was so surprised this only had about 4 thousand views, this is way to well made and funny to go unnoticed.
One of the funniest gd videos I’ve seen😂 keep it up
I've been waiting for someone to do something like this!!
you gotta make a second part to this, So good!
17:56 most relatable moments in gd story
BRO DROPPED A BANGERRR
this was great, underrated creator.
11:51 xanii be like:
next up try making artists create pieces of art in gd
i'd like to see people adjust to it
i loved this video. please make a this again at some point
Amazing video idea! Good video
Now this is content thanks RUclips
It's so great to get a Czech Geometry Dash video recommended. Even if the you are speaking English, it is still great. Keep up the good work!
Also... Zdravím z Česka!
I've spent at least a hundred hours in the level editor, and I did not know that pressing enter could be used to playtest levels in create mode
Please make a Second part when 2.2 comes out!
This reminds me so much of my old days in GD when I first opened the editor so cool!
Za mě nejlepší GD video na czsk scéně kluci :D
Very good viedo pls make some more of this
Move triggers are actually over 8 years old now
Velice pekné video (:
yoo this was cool make a part 2
11:51 IT'S BLUE IT'S BLUE IT'S BLUE
The "sisphyan" timing at 6:04 is actually pretty easy, you just need to let go earlier at the first click (not too early so that you hit the bottom floor of the top block, but not too late so the jump is impossible)
=
8:52 - Using an extremely specific timing, you can click IN BETWEEN the hitboxes of the spikes and completely skip the ball and speed portal
Why are they making better decoration than me after almost on year of playing
"I found a bug! I found a bug!"
oh, we've all been there :))
11:51 it's blue 🗝
Omfg 😭
GD vids are getting so creative, fucking love this community
legendarní, veselé vánoce všem
Seeing them struggle and get confused with the editor for the first time is gold, it basically summarize all of our first editor experience in Gd.
funky free move skull throne makes me want to make a boss level where only skull objects are visible, and glass pyramid boss fight would be awesome as a finished level
this is a brilliant video idea. i am laughing looking at these guys figuring out how to use a terrible engine which i've learned to use over several years. to be fair, i'd be s clueless if i was learning the engines they use...
will there be a part 2 once these fellows are more familiar with the game?
As a game developer who grew up playing GD, I thought I'd check out the 2.2 editor and so much of this is exactly how I reacted lol
Now that I'm used to programming, it all feels so unintuitive to me
Love the celeste music at the beginning
Mega dobrý video!!!
Awesome
Underrated video
underrated bro
Finally a good RUclips video that RUclips recermend me
Wulzy would send these.
bro 💀
Bro made a triangle and was praised, good video
banger video!
Now let’s see how they do in the 2.2 editor
nice video
actualy a nice video, btw where were you?
"too many buttons"
relatable
this video is awesome
4:18 bro is making an impossible demon
this is how Slaugterhouse was made fr
❤ I loved the video! Could I do this again when the game is updated to version 2.2? (Sorry I speak English badly).
bro 2.2 is literally just gonna be a whole ass programming language
yo radek is back and kvark looks pretty cool i might get it
Really happy to hear that, Kvark is imo super cool, so if you decide to get it lmk what you thought of it lol
the underrated
As an editor who has experience with decorating and level design, this was painful to watch ngl
holy shite eidam
Seriously tho, how do you just drop an insanely high quality video after verifying my bad level
I hope RobTop once adds spwn analog inside gd
i think the laser bossfight is the best one
its both creative and is cool so yeh
"this is cluttered" oh sweet child, wait til 2.2 drops xd
Something bossfight is the winner!
we need a new episode with the 2.2 editor
20:13 my body setting itself on fire for them not knowing dark side of the moon
game developers = gd
geometry dash = gd
gd's try using the gd editor
geometry dash's try using the game developer editor
game developers try using the geometry dash editor
Next do competitive prograers try to solve problems using gd editors lmao
iterate over an array of clubstep monsters
find the lowest common ancestor of 2 random
devil vortex saws
First minute in and i realize more than ever that robtop should honestly hire some developers maybe 2 or 3. Though its impressive that he made geometry dash what it is all by himself with no prior knowlege, just youtibe videos
You should just just have them explore and try and make a level in 24 hours they can play the game or do whatever they just have to have a level made in 24 hours
