Balakumari is a place near Chikiti block in Ganjam district of Odisha. Balakumari is 32 kms from Berhampur city of Ganjam. There is Maa Balakumari temple, which is a holy pilgrim of Maa Durga. Balakumari is a famous picnic spot for the people living in southern part of Odisha and Andhra during the winter season. Balakumari is also famous for trekking and good picturesque at the temple top. Balakumari temple is in the top of a hill named Keerandimala hill, roadway to the temple top is available via car or two-wheeler. Trekking option is also available by climbing up 1272 steps to reach Maa Balakumari temple. Balakumari is also known as Vaishnavi Maa Peetha. The presiding deity- Maa Balakumari is Goddess Durga. You can spend 1 to 2 hours at this place. Temple hours is 9am to 6pm daily.
