This is a sci-fi steampunk version of the Akira Kurasowa classic film 'Seven Samurai' filmed in 1954. The robots represent the overwhelming force of the bandits that encroached on the villagers at the time, which in those times a horde of barbaric marauders might as well have been giant mecha compared to the abilities of a simple farmer. For anyone that enjoyed this anime I would highly suggest watching the original classic film, though it is nearly 4 hours long every second is worth it.
I know, I know. I hate mecha animes. But this one is worth a shot. It's got a nice steam punk feel -- the mechs aren't all there is, even though they play a role. The character development is just AMAZING -- such believable personalities. If you can look past the machines, you'll find a well-planned, deep and deeply moving show. It was great. -- Tuber Who Hates Mech Animes
This series is hardly about robots. The first half of this trailer is not proportional to how much robot action there is, as there really isn't quite that much. Instead of complaining about it, why don't you just give it a shot? And then judge for yourself.
This looks like a pretty good anime, i love steampunk and Seven Samurai so this seems right up my alley! Little worried about the CG, it looks pretty bad. Anime animators: Please stop using CG it always looks awful!

The anime itself is awesome.

Yeah, I just found out about Toonami putting this on their playlist, or whatever you want to call it, along with Eureka 7. It's going to be awesome!
