Listen, Gaga is not appreciated enough vocally. My sis killed it from the outfit to the vocals. She can switch up and do every genre and do it well! I appreciate her being so different from everyone else in the industry.
Apparently, they realised at the dress rehearsal that she would need an escort to get down the steps without dying, so they just got the tallest, burliest looking marine that was on hand. He did an interview after the inauguration and said that she was (understandably) a bit nervous before going out, so he told her not to worry because she was going to nail it. 🤗 Random aside: It was _hilarious_ to hear the announcer trying to make "Lady Gaga" sound austere and solemn. 😂
@@KajiVocals I said she classically trained her voice to sing Julie Andrews SONGS....I didn’t say is a classically trained vocalist. Just like Madonna had to train her voice for Evita, in order to sing those songs. ;)
@@fearfullnature Well, that doesn't make much sense considering classical training is something very specific and generally formal. She just sang in a traditional belt there which she always had (she grew up singing traditional pop).
@@KajiVocals Its is specific but you can be classically trained to sing certain songs. Her voice has that capability already, I don’t see Britney Spears singing Julie Andrew songs. They even said she had to train her voice to sing those specific Julie Andrew songs. When i heard her sing the National Anthem, to me i could hear that classical influence. You don’t hear it in a song like Pokerface. Its an observation on my part.

@@melisagalvalizi6982 you're only thinking about your own opinion at this point. Not "everyone" thinks that way. Which is the point I was making originally. 🤷🏾♂️
Thank you for this reaction. I'm not a huge Gaga fan so when I found out that she was going to sing this song my first reaction was 'oh no. oh my god'. I was so wrong. Everything she did was a statement. Her dress was red and dark blue (dems/repubs much) with the dove of peace. So, there she was a visual embodiment of bi-partisanship. She was gracious to the young man who escorted her. She spoke to the new pres and vp. Then she stood there with total conviction and passion and blew us all away. Her holds were purposeful and impactful. For example, when she turns and gestures to the flag and sings "that our flag was still there" and holds the note on 'there'. She's reminding us that just two weeks prior that flag very nearly wasn't there. THAT was when I started crying. I've never really been emotionally invested in this song but Gaga gave it to all of us when she gestures to the crowd and sings 'and the home of the brave' holding that note on 'brave'. I was, and still am, incredibly moved when I watch this performance. It has become my favorite version of this song. Gaga knocked it out of the park and you could tell her heart was in it.
Queen's Lady Ga Ga sings very good version of National Anthem. We want her here in Canada, we have lots of hockey games and other sports for her to shine :). Great react Tara, you give the best honest comments :)
the bird is a dove with olive branch, gererally represent hope, a reference to the Biblical story of Noah and the Flood tells of a dove returning to the Ark with a freshly plucked olive leaf. The leaf reveals proof of land, the end of the flood.
I think that there were some older Congressmen in the background who had never seen or heard Lady Gaga before and who were saying to themselves, "Oh NO, not another pop-rocker to suffer thru and listen, here to mutilate our National Anthem". You could see it in their faces when she came out, even thru the masks. I was in that boat myself. Boy was I wrong about Lady Gaga! What a voice! Now I will have to go watch and listen to some of her other music. She is obviously very talented.🤗
I think that the bird is a Dove for Peace. I loved the performance and singing live in the cold like that had to be nerve racking!! She is a super artist and saying that some of the vowels were a little narrow but over all I would like to have the togetherness to sing that well under those kind of circumstances!! Way to go Gaga!!
Watched it live and it still gave me goosebumps here. The network commentators commented how she sang it "straight" instead of doing a Lady Gaga-typical..."adjustment." :)
(blatantly copying what Adam Neely said about her performance in his video about it) It's the arrangement and mixed tempo that makes this sort of unfamiliar. She turns the anthem into a Broadway performance rather than to just deliver a whole bunch of melismatic runs to show off her vocals. Took me a couple listens too, but she did it masterfully.
She looked beautiful. She had the poise. Overall, I loved her musical phrasing. I do think some of her high belts had kind of a coarse finish to them. Like the way she takes a breath after each step: "That our flag... was... still... THEEERE!" It's a bit forceful, and the note is not entirely stable. I'd like to think she could have had just as much impact but with added tonal beauty if she had dropped a little of the vocal weight and instead used her head resonators more. But it's her rendition, her choice, and there is a definite sense of honest abandon which makes it exciting.
Gaga took a breath after “each step” of: “That our flag.. was.. still.. there!” for a reason. It was purposeful and symbolic. If you don’t remember, the Jan 6 insurrection took place 2 weeks before this.. it was supposed to be as dramatic as she sang it.
Hello Tara I absolutely love your honesty and how much you care about other musicians other artists and all around everyone I think Lady Gaga did very well I do believe every artist has a moment where they miss a note or their voice wavers I'm a big fan of the National Anthem I also over the years all the artists that have sung the National Anthem have put their own personal swing on it Lady Gaga did very well in my opinion oh and Tara I would like you to react to the band Skid Row 18 and Life with Sebastian Bach as vocals and the song Holy Diver from Dio sorry if this is not the proper way to do this I'm just learning some of this kind of stuff God bless you Tara and your family and you have a very beautiful voice keep on teaching and singing God Bless
Lol I was using dipthong the other way: I thought it was when you open 😂😭 But anyway I loved this version. Very neat, classical and very her. What I love about Lady GaGa is her current career. Where she is now is where she deserves to be 🖐🖐
I am not sure how to suggest someone to listen to so I apologize but here it goes. I fell in love with the country of Wales and subsequently its language Now one my favorite Welsh artist is Bronwen Lewis. Check out her voice in a love song Ti a Fi. All in Welsh but I am sure you can appreciate her talent.
Not sure if you noticed, but this performance was in mixed meter. It was in both 3/4 and 4/4 (with a random bar of 2/4 thrown in), which is why the timing feels like it's pushing and pulling a bit. Someone did an in depth breakdown of the arrangement and it's quite interesting if you're a musical nerd like me 🤓
Love Mother Gaga!!!! A different style/flavor within the national stadium concert venue...... 2000 Sydney Olympics, Heroes Live Forever, Vanessa Amorosi for next review.
Very few singers choose to go UP on "the flag was still there" line. To me, it puts more power on that line, and I know that most singers choose the conventional way of going down. It's a risk to attempt it, but such a powerful thing when the singer can pull it off!
Hi, Tara! Were you there watching in Анна Иваница - Lady Gaga - Always Remember Us This Way. Х-фактор 10. Четвертый кастинг? Was it you watching together with many audience?? Watch 4:47
agreed with the dipthongs. I really enjoyed the variation of the meter. I think it is risky to make too many changes to a song that is so standard and comes with so many expectations. The variations in meter created interest without making it feel like someone was just trying to show off. She sings so well, but I did feel some of the dipthongs were distracting.
Maybe I'm a bit of a traditionalist, but I don't think you should mess with the meter too much. The song is written in 3/4, I think it should be kept that for at least most of the piece. It might be heretical to say, but I didn't like Whitney Houston's alteration of the meter either...but of course her vocals slayed, so I couldn't be upset for too long.
Yeah, it actually seems confusing at times, and a steady 4/4 could have been nice too. But artistically it also makes sense and section wise the piece was great. Given what happened recently, the anthem has a special meaning and the arrangement puts emphasis on that so I think that's their reason. But personally I think it could have been perfect with a fixed 3/4 or 4/4 or a mix of the two on the right spots.
She did an awesome job... but I agree... I am old school... I like when The National Anthem is sung in a very traditional way... straight forward.... no adlibbing ....
The bird is a dove, it was basically about both sides of politics coming together in this event, and Gaga offering a peace branch to Republicans and those in america who are angry.
