    I always love the look of a proper cuirass, though I have heard the "faulds" called "the fauld", so I suppose you could call each "hoop" a lame like you would for other articulated areas.

    I agree 100% with your assessment pertaining to proper cuirass length. But IMO, you're overemphasizing the importance of breastplate doming. Yes, it does aid in deflection. But you are also already wearing a shell of hardened steel. Let's not forget that numerous Roman patricians marched into battle wearing cuirasses that were not only flat but were anatomically sculpted, concave spaces and all, and these men were not exactly dropping like flies every time they took a blow to the sternum. Granted, they weren't facing war hammers. But I still take this as evidence that the deflection benefit imbued by breastplate doming has a precedent for being sacrificed in the name of fashion.
