Takes awhile. Put her in barracks and do hard quest. I would do one hard quest refresh on her a day 50 via for 2 shards is half price.
New player here. Went for light team first due to me going all in on Cloud. Loved him from the childhood. Not gonna do any pvp and just playing the game for story, so guessing any tierlist is useless for me? Most likely gonna quit after story is done.
Nice, Cloud has a lot of good meta partners you could have access to in the normal pool. Jueme has anti-magic greatsword synergy, and Helena is a powerful curveball for light teams that might be able to heal him back and because of reflect has a bit of anti-magic to her as well.
Helena can also buff his high innate wider area resist bonus, and because of this he can be very resistant to massive attacks.
Cloud's recent Esper picks: Minotaur (Power), Master Couerl (Speed), Dark Bahamut (both lol) Voldiskke (Power/Mag resist)
VCs to focus on: Light - Dark Bahamut, Flash of Insight,
That said, most units will work and Cloud basically alone should be able to handle a lot of story lol

@@gianlanser2897 your comment made me think though, for a new player right now, older limited units are realistic, and they get a lot of top slots in this stuff, I figured I should do a (mostly) unlimited unit top tier list

2 shards a day from Hard Quests, 1 every 12 hours in barracks, monthly medals give you about around 50 medals so thats 50 shards a month from that if you only buy hers on the mog shop.
Assuming there's 30 days a month, you get 120 a month from HQ and Barracks + the 50 so 170, this is not including any shards you get from buying them via stars or UR medals, and you would need 1000 shards to get her to Level 120 and another 120 shards for Level 140.
So in total to get an offrated character to 140 only using these would take about 6-7 months, a long enough time to powercreep said unit.

Did bro just call A2 a barrier bot? the A2's ive been seeing dish out some serious dmg and sometime lap with velis haste. I think shes a pain to deal with.

Yes, she's probably one of the tougher threats in ice right now and I see her on a bunch of non ice teams as well.
Barrier protection was her selling point (which now Dario can do) but she also has a 2x followup heal (again like Dario) but she also does copius damage on top of it.
Even with reraise though, and like most ice units, she's also easy enough to remove from the board (unlike Dario lol).
So she's an ice Canon that does some cool support/sustain stuff while doing damage. I've seen these dynamics combine especially well with both greatsword and Glacelia/Faris water teams.
Her being so good on those teams means a lot of her best application is outside of ice, but within ice she protects ice's barrier spam theme, so that probably why you're adding her to the team.
Of course with improving status of Job VCs, this is true of more and more new units
