Good food for thought.
I would still recommend mackin for new players to build, and don't be afraid to put good gear on him. Why? because last time I checked, you can move gear around. You can even regress him if it's critical. I wouldn't... but it's always an option of resources are tight and you have a roster setup that allows you to move mackin to the background.
I consider him top tier, but Niche since he's really one of the best early DPS carries and when you drop him is based on RNG and how your default team build goes. So I'd still make sure new players know that he's really worth investing in early game, but you'll probably move away from him later on.

Agree with everything you say here. He's a great Epic hero that really makes early game easy mode, but he drops off precipitously in later game content. At some point he stops being able to one-shot enemies in campaign, and his propensity to lose buffs is a big issue that I underestimated at first. He eventually gets too squishy to be reliable, though I definitely still use him. And yes, I have seen players who have broken him through!
I was thinking this from the day 1 i used Mackin.. He is total anti synergy. But the most fun i had in this game was early game using Mackin, Hoff and Lysander. Hoff mark means Mackin would go non stop and Lys just pokes and makes life easier for Mackin. I cleared entire campaign with these 3 heroes and some support like Maya and Wim. Also dominated pvp early with this strategy :)) a year later I still use this account and having fun
Hoff has some really fun synergies like that!

Wow, is this timely. I just cleared campaign 2 days ago and picked up Kath and Nordak only to find that Mackin dies all the time after regular campaign. I was thinking Hez kinda sucks but at least he stays alive. So the question is… who replaces Mackin on the team with Space, Kath, Nordak, and Hez?
@@B52Surfer Hez can solo DPS just fine - just put another support in there. Who is best depends on which heroes you have but Wim, Liz, or whoever you used in campaign is fine
As far as Hez being underwhelming, make sure you disable his second skill when smartcasting as it’s not very good, and keep in mind his damage scales with HP and Mastery, not Attack.
He choked for me in hell campaign. Maybe I wasn’t using him correct as far as builds. But didn’t see they hype, I did but not how they big it up to be
@@uchihaclan77 He needs to be above 1600 speed and his supports need to be slower than him to ensure he doesn’t clean their buffs I think - he can be a little tricky to get right

I was thinking this everytime someone in the discord would hype him up. I thought, sure he seems good, but not "god tier" like they make him seem.
