I have no problem with the TCC list other than them saying that even if you just transit in an airport then it counts… clearing customs and actually seeing something of the country is what counts for me. On other social media forums and in the old days of the ThornTree on Lonely Planet mere mention of the TCC generates such hostility and debate saying that it’s just people trying to “collect “ countries…. Personally I see it as a bit of fun that encourages me to go to places that I ordinarily wouldn’t have thought of going to … case in point Madeira , it was on the list and so I went over Christmas one year and had an absolutely amazing time, ditto Ceuta . I’m all for it. I can understand why some of the countries on there raise an eyebrow but who cares?… btw why is there no Quebec on that list? Love the channel Matt.
Thanks Dave - and thanks for watching this video - not many people have! The only place I've ever transited and not got out of the airport is Pakistan and I don't count it - I'd really like to but I didn't even get off the plane!!! You're quite right that the TCC is a bit of fun and trying to work out why a "country" is on the list can be quite educational - Srpska being an example. Srpska and Prince Edward Island count but Quebec doesn't... I have a video planned about some places that should be included and its just crept up the to-do list knowing that at least one person is interested!
*** IMPORTANT UPDATE *** 329 is now 330... St Kitts and Nevis is now St Kitts and Nevis... Two territories instead of one... I talk about it more in this update video: ruclips.net/video/l6ZGjitEnkM/видео.html Avid viewers of the channel might recall from my Corfu video that I incremented my TCC count to 130 when I visited the Ionian Islands. At the time I included Sharjah in the UAE as I was certain I'd passed through the emirate when I visited in 1996. In preparing this video, I looked more closely and couldn't be sure I'd been. This involved looking closely at street maps and trying to see if different roads might have existed in 1996! So I've removed Sharjah from the list which brings me back to a total of 129.
Since you asked... Prince Edward Island is included in the list of countries and territories because of rule 4.a. ii. Islands/island Groups: An island/island group not separately defined under section I shall be considered a separate territory if: Being located within 200 miles, it has a population exceeding 100,000 and is administered as distinctively separate state(s), province(s), or department(s).
Thanks so much JoAnn - its all a bit silly but that makes sense... Manhattan is an island but is probably not administered distinctly enough.... And the Isle of Wight is 140k and is administered as a separate county, but isn't a state, province or department! It is beautiful there though - PEI I mean!

I'll take a look....

Matt. I can't imagine how many hours your research department put into this list. I won't do any research,
I will just believe you.
