Its amazing to see lodged wheat on a sidehill! We see it here in NC KS on the flat but not on a slope. You guys must have some rich soil and its amazing how it stays put!
It doesn't.... Plenty of organic and close management of cultivation methods help hold the soil from water and wind erosion. No- till is the best method... Leave undisturbed and minimum disturbance when seeding.
Holy! And I thought my terain was uneven with big hills lol. I imagine You run quadtracks with narrow implements just to get up the hills no? That would be an interesting video!
Combining those hills would be a nice video too 😁 My fields are flatter than a hockey rink, but i like seeing a good hill. No camera does em justice tho
@@TrevorStruthers Do you mean that the whole combine has to sway over-? I figure that only the unload auger needs to raise and lower independent of the combine to unload on the go. They need an actuator/ram under the root end of the unload auger to raise and lower it.
Looks like good wheat. You guys have cool-aid running in your veins operating in those hills. Just think of the catestrophy should a down hill axel break suddenly.
Haha. Yeah u get used to it. Ive had an inside hub break on my inner tire before. Luckily it wasnt the outside tire, or yes it would have been much worse.
I don't know how you guys could do anything other than no till that ground. How did the old timers keep it from all washing away after any rain? I don't think you guys get a whole lot of precip?
@@TrevorStruthers How did yall keep the soil from all going to the bottom? Disking or plowing a particular direction would help but still very difficult, you cant seed rye in fall to hold because it sucks moisture out of the ground at those rainfall rates. Did you guys spread straw on it in the fall or just by the Grace of God not get the erosion issues? I guess if its a sandy, loam w some clay to hold you could run packers and roll it down to hold?
@@TrevorStruthers I figure the humidity is low so you guys can cut well up until about 10-11PM if not later? Get rest and may God Bless you guys with a good yield per acre.
Last year we were close and this year I am working for a farm that farms them. I mean, the skyrockets are in my backyard. I can see them from here! lol.

No i switched farmers. I work for james farms full-time now. We run all red ones. Except for our wheel tractor. Where you located?

I got some good footage today of 3 cutting in a pack on a steep hill. From above though, it doesnt look so bad maybe.
My Dads land about 10 miles west is flatter than a pancake as well. A few canyons but the Eureka flats... She is flat for around here.
Nice vid! What is the purpose of the strips of vegetation that ran up the hill at the 10:00 timeline?
Border to a neighbour?
Yah field border
Those combine unload augers need to be able to raise and lower vertically.
A red one came out and it is plenty high, but has to level over a lot into me to unload right.

Hi, jow big is this field, seems north of 1000ac.
Technically I am in two fields here, you may not be able to tell where the fenceline is. Probably both around 500 maybe yah

Our family farm averages about 10 to 12 inches of rain. Its west another 15 miles from here. Id guess they get maybe 20-24 here
It used to be all conventional. Now everyone is no tilling
