Hey John, please share some tips on how to build Elbow and shoulder strength, I find my elbow bothering me after starts, and it lasts for a couple of days after as well
You need to build your arm up over time. Here's a great resource: ================================================================ PITCHING 365.2 baseballtrainingprograms.com/pitching-365-discount/ ================================================================
John, I'm going to be a freshman in high school next year. I am currently playing for my high school team, travel ball team, and my recreation team. This season I'm batting .714 for my recreation team, and .931 for my travel ball team. My problem is that I'm struggling to get a hit in high school ball. To me it seems like the high school pitchers I've gone against are moving at a faster pace when winding up to pitch, this gives me not as much time to load up and swing. If you could give me any tips I would appreciate it.

This question is for anyone really but I'm 14 and want to get into pitching, what grips should I learn as a starter. You know, nothing that can destroy my arm or anything *too* technical.
As a fellow 14 year old who pitches, you need to have a four seam fastball. A two seamer would also be a good option as a backup. I'd advise staying away from a cutter at this age, as Pedro Martinez said it's basically just a Tommy John pitch. At 14, I think a curveball would be good to have, as well. Just don't throw it too much and you'll be fine. Finally, a changeup is the money pitch for those bigger kids catching up to your fastball. Hope I could help.
I'm the #2 pitcher on my varsity baseball team and I've come to realize my role is pretty important. We are struggling now and I'm a tough jam as I can feel the weight of teammate pressure coming on to me as our #1 guy is not getting the job done. Only one problem. I think I have tendinitis in two spots on my throwing arm and am scared to tell anyone in case it results in me sitting on the bench and watching us lose. Do you have any tips for taking care of your arm and relieving the sharp pains of tendinitis?
I have that how to throw a shuuto video in my pitching program ================================================================ PITCHING 365.2 baseballtrainingprograms.com/pitching-365-discount/ ================================================================
You need to see a doctor first. Then if he says everything is ok, then you need to start slow and build yourself up with more throws and more intensity over time. You can't just go out there and air it out day 1.
Mr. John Madden. I dont know if youve previously answered this question, but as a well above average 13 year old that wants to have a career in baseball, do you think its necessary or a good idea to go to showcases? I run a 7.2 on the 60, im a 5'5 lefty that plays good 1st base and tremendous outfield. Id really appreciate if you could give feedback about if i should go to showcases, because i want to be seen, but i also dont want to waste money and my parents time going to these showcases. Thanks!
john ive been catching a lot lately and sometimes my pitchers have trouble and my coach will call time and go up to the mound and calm him down but I feel like since I'm the catcher I need to be like a leader so when is a good time to go up to the mound and calm them down.
When you feel he is losing control. Not necessarily control of his pitches, but control of his mental. Each pitcher will be different as will be the way you handle them. Some pitchers you may need to tell a joke to lighten the mood and relax them. Others you will need to get in their ass and tell them to focus and buckle down because they respond better to that. It's your job to know your pitchers.
I know I have probably asked this before, but I am a junior starter and I don't even start league games, I am about to be a senior and I want to start throwing low 80's. I have all summer what should I work on the most to accomplish this goal
It's very hard to throw a good one, but if you have a good one you have to decide if you're going to be a knuckleball pitcher and commit yourself to the philosophy by trusting it.
Hi John. I have a question for you you. I have a splitter and a sinker that I use in games. My splitter has VERY good movement but I am kind of wild with it. My sinker has less movement but is more accurate. Which should I use???
Master that change up, man! Start with a curveball when you're 13. Locate that fastball and learn how to upset hitters' timing. Learn how to change SPEEDS and LOCATION!! That kind of thing is hard to teach, it's much easier for you to just 'figure out' via experience. Good Luck!!
Hey John. I'm 13 years old and I play 1st, 3rd, I pitch and I was forced to catch this year. What should I do if I don't want to play a position that I am forced to play
Just want to let you know, I used your drills with my 13 year old son who is a first year lefty. Tremendous improvements!! THANK YOU!
That is great to hear! Thanks Brandon!
Thanks for the tips!
Really helpful! Thanks!

Will you make a video about the main pitches high school players should be learning to throw.

Okay, thanks very much!
U probly need somethin offspeed at your age so learn a change up or circle change or even a beginners curveball
4 seam, 2 seam, change up
What pitch is more affective between the circle change-up or just the change up?
It is really a prefference thing see which one u throw better or which one u like more
Different for every pitcher...

Ice your arm for 20 minutes then slowly stretch your arm for 20 minutes then just relax it
You've got to take care of your arm. You only have one pitching arm.

Does anyone have any tips for helping shoulder tendonitis?
Go to doctor. Ask him for advice. Then follow it. It's usually rest 4-6 weeks and then rehab.
Thanks, I have been going to phisio for the past month and it is pretty much at 100% now
Hey john, why is it when I throw my curve ball after like 10 pitches my arm starts to get sore and start to die
Probably because you're not conditioned or your mechanics are bad.

It's not super important til 10-12th grade. But in the meantime you can keep working on getting better so when the time comes you can dominate!

what is your stance on the knuckleball?
It's very hard to throw a good one, but if you have a good one you have to decide if you're going to be a knuckleball pitcher and commit yourself to the philosophy by trusting it.
Hey john just curious how fast do you think you can throw now
I could probably touch 80 if I tried. Just a bit slower than I used to. LOL
How should you prepare for a tryout
Mentally and physically
+YouGoPro when is the next vid
Hey I have a question what count should I throw my curveball
any count. just dont make a pattern
Your goal should be to feel confident enough to throw any of your pitches in any count.
Hi John. I have a question for you you. I have a splitter and a sinker that I use in games. My splitter has VERY good movement but I am kind of wild with it. My sinker has less movement but is more accurate. Which should I use???
You can use them both, right?
I was the same with my fork vs sinker.
Hey john! What age do you think I should be to start throwing a pitch that moves
You can throw a moving fastball at any age
I'm a little league pitcher. I really only have a four seam and change-up. Is it time for me to start to learn some type of breaking ball?
Little league? seriously? No. You should only start throwing breaking pitches at around 14 or 15
+Samuel Curran thanks

You don't need any
Hey John. I'm 13 years old and I play 1st, 3rd, I pitch and I was forced to catch this year. What should I do if I don't want to play a position that I am forced to play
Since you are young just play it because you will regret not being able to play so many positions when you get into high school ball
Communicate with the coach and then bust your butt to prove that you are supposed to be playing where you want to play.
second
haha
Thanks for the tips!
You're welcome
