Yes it is the same author. He wrote The Egg, and the feedback he got was so positive that the internet encouraged him to write his first book. The Martian is that book.

this is actually crazy because it’s impossible to disprove. the way this is set up means that everyone is one person, but in different human lives sure of their own consciousness. because everyone is sure of their own consciousness there is no way to tell that another person with completely different beliefs, appearance, and lifestyle is yourself.

This is the first time I've watched a reaction video and in this case it was worth it. The Egg is one of my favourite stories and to see you awed the way i was was comforting. What a touching and reassuring concept especially if you have lost people.
Andy Weir is a sci-fi writing genius that made his name by writing unbelievably creative and out-of-box ideas in a very interesting way. He wrote this piece, The Egg, which can be found on his website, as well as many other works like, you guessed it, the Martian.
man this made me cry. I've never been religious, but this story sums up my feelings on life and the universe more succinctly than I thought possible
This little story gives so much sense to sayings like "all humans are brothers" or "treat others like you would treat yourself" and the belive of all religions that we are all children of god. Even the feeling of a Deja vu makes sense in this scenario.
I don’t know if there is something wrong with me but when I do something there’s this weird feeling of deja vu even if I haven’t done it before

I really love how the narration blurs and mixes with “gods” speech, just showing how he is the grand narrator of the universe, it’s really cool.
It puts a whole new emphasis on "treat others the way you want to be treated."
After experiencing psychedelics I can say this is the closest thing to describe my experience. I’ve felt this oneness this video speaks of. And it’s absolutely amazing!
This is true...but theres a slight problem. Psychedelics are illegal on a mass scale. How do you expect yourself to appreciate these things and such unity if you're banning this feeling from ever being experienced by the culmination of your very self? Maybe...that young naive version of yourself from pre-maturity into godhood wasn't so keen on the idea of being everyone all at once....a little rebellion? I have some explaining to do, and so do you.
This video is very trippy. Well to me it is. I got to thinking recently what if we are everyone but everyone exists but our universes collided. I do like that but, it feels like a loop. You bully someone you become the person you bullied but if you do nice to a bully you become them. Sounds cool and brings the real meaning to walk in my shoes and you will know.
The first time I ever saw this video I was at the heaviest point of an LSD trip, and let me tell you what kind of craziness was felt after finishing this video. I was able to put my self in the shoes of the person who died and it just hit me like a truck no pun intended LOL

Sorry for the long quotes, but this story basically implies (whether extra dimensional being is involved or not) that we are all star-children of the Big Bang. When a star dies it supernovas, basically exploding all the atoms within it across the universe. This is how Earth and everything in it is formed. And we couldn’t truly fathom time as it’s a dimension on its own leading us to live what we perceive as our past lives when they could very well be our current ones.
When you write things down you are the universe recording itself. When you love someone and enjoy yourself and the company of others, you are the universe acknowledging, appreciating, and loving it’s own existence.
Well guys It took fuckin... gazillions of years and forces we can’t comprehend, but I’m here with all of us to experience this moment in time and space.

Maybe it’s not so much as a human you’ll remember and store all your past experiences but when you die it’s just like respawning in a video game or starting a new one you remember everything from past lives but it all disappears when you start new until you die again and you can access everything from previous lives

Why isn’t this a legitimate religion.
It is literaly the answer to everything.
It already is though. The problem is, its split into multiple different sects all over the planet from all different places from all different lives and all different languages because well....theres no way you'd be able to congeal all of it together back then, there were no phones, no internet. The best idea would have been to give yourself sprinkles of this idea throughout history so that the concept wouldn't fade away. Allow it enough influence to shape your future births into being more kind. A cheat sheet so to speak. But now its the 20th century, and these ideas can spread to yourself from yourself across the world to all yourselves. Your idea to write such things were genius.
This is, ultimately, what Pantheists like myself believe. That everyone, ans everything, are but a tiny fragment of a greater whole. Attempting to understand itself.

fyi, there's an Anime centred around "Remembering your past life" called World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman. Its a bit cheesy at places but pretty good. And Kurzesagt in general does wonderfully animated video's on a fair few topics.
You should watch two of Kurzgesagt's videos about nuclear weapons. The one about what would happen if we detonated all of them, and what would happen if we nuked a city.
