I work with a guy who supervised security at the Empire State building and when I asked who the nicest celebrity he ever met was he said flat out Tom Cruise. He said he was the most polite celebrity he could ever imagine meeting. He held the doors and insisted on holding the doors for security and staff as well as his entourage. Took pictures and signed autographs etc. He couldnt speak more highly of him
Spencer Shaw I believe you. Remember in him doing all or at least most of his stunts means he really cares about wowing his audience and that speaks a lot about him in a great way.
“I wouldn’t want a guy like Quaid messing around with my old lady” “Are you saying she likes it?” “No, I’m sure she hated every minute of it” Love Ironside. Don’t forget Starship Troopers.
"That was 200 films ago." And there you see the mark of a guy who shows up to do his job, gets stuff done, and gets called upon to do more work in the future. Longtime fan of Mr. Ironside.
Michael Ironside is great in every role I've ever seen him take on. Fantastic actor. I think the main reason he never became a leading man is because he just got so good at playing either villains or supporting roles. He's always been a scene stealer. Also, what happens when an actor gets known for supporting roles is that when they stretch and do a leading role they always live under the glare of their own spotlight, their own legacy of roles.
Unfortunately...I have. "Highlander 2: The Quickening" was one of the worst sequels ever made and his role as General Katana was little more than a poor copy of Clancy Brown's Kurgan from the first film....otherwise, I completely agree. Michael Ironside is an awesome actor.
Remember first seeing him in Scanners, and old movie back when I was a kid that scared me shitless for years. This guy played the bad guy perfectly. Total Recall and Starship Troopers are not the same movies without him. He is such an underutilized actor which I find a great shame. Such a strong, authoritative presence. You never could tell if he's the good guy or a bad one just by looking at this face. Now that I think about it his voice is a bit iconic, sorta like a light Jack Nicholson.
Shows that Michael is a professional actor. He's right in that the original film was all about the aerial action, not the acting. but Michael's scenes were good. Tom Cruise is a great actor to work with - ask any of the people who've been on set with him and they'll confirm it. What he does in his private life is for him alone, but when it comes to show business, he's right up there doing his best for the audience and the numbers of injuries he gets from stunts shows that he sometimes goes too far.
Such a wonderful man, and it's pretty sad how down he is these days. Thinking alot about people who's gone. He really care about those around him and the moments to share with these people.
Ironside is so underrated and under appreciated. Really surprised he didn’t land some type of crime series on tv portraying some type of unforgettable character like a Kojak or Tony Soprano or Jethro Gibbs ...... He has a powerful presence and always enjoy seeing him on the screen.
Macuga laughing about cast being dead right before Michael Ironside mentions the suicide. Then asking a stupid question about being shirtless during the volleyball scene. Not smart Awkward!
Sigh Josh Macuga (rolls eyes), "captain foot in his mouth" isn't he! He's the reason i rarely watched Collider TV. Man it was painful to do, watching him host it. Except for the time he said one funny comment about Damon Lindelof referencing Lost (everyone will ask him about Lost's ending in an aggressive fashion etc') The guy is just plain annoying to hear, let alone watch. Feel real sorry Michael Ironside comes on to Collider after Schnepp has passed on and has to take a question from Macuga of all people, instead of the 'Schneppster' who we all miss very much!
@@WYHIWYG242 Victory. Some kids are spray painting a poster over one of the visitors faces and this older man Abraham , says something like "no, do it like this and paints a V, then he says for victory"

Top Gun - Total Recall - Starship Troopers - Scanners - Splinter Cell... i'm probably forgetting some other greats from this guy - but this guy is a fucking legend
Outstanding character actor. Him, Brad Dourif and Clancy Brown are my favorites when it comes to character actors. Would've been cool to see Jester and Viper in TG2.
I've never scene an interview with him before. Seems like a fun guy to know. So different from the characters he plays. Wish he was in TG2. The fans want him in it.
Cant remember a movie with ironside that was not epic simply because of his presence! Total Recall, scanners, Starship Toopers V, and the rest. A class act in every sense of the word.
His interview that is on the Top Gun special edition version is great as he talks about the real-life Top Gun pilot who got to fly the F14 that buzzed the tower in the movie. Awesome guy and an awesome movie.
Love this actors work! Seems like he's been around forever! Hope he gets some great meaty roles in the years to come.Starship Troopers was so much fun because of his character! "You wanna live forever"
Michael Ironside has always been one of my favourite character actors. I remember watching the film Scanners at a way too early age, and his intense screen presence has stuck with me from that day. Does anyone else remember a film called Watchers from the eighties featuring Ironside and Corey Haim?
Isn't there supposed to be *more* to this interview? The video is only *4:30* long, and yet the interview seems to be longer than that. Is there a video somewhere of the *entire* interview? However long the interview may be, I'd like to hear what Michael Ironside has to say about *"Maverick",* the new *"Top Gun"* movie. I remember the first *"Top Gun"* movie from back in the 80s. Why it took so damn long to come up with a *"Top Gun"* sequel is beyond me.
Notice that Kristian hushed Josh barely 30 seconds into the video almost knowing what Ironside was about to say in response to the Top Gun question? Man, that was just an off putting reaction to laughing about people being dead and that look he is giving to ironside smiling, just creepy.
I understand the Macuga meant no harm but I was laughing hysterically when I saw him laugh after he mentioned almost everyone he worked on the movie with is dead! Just the look on Macuga's face kills me!🤣
He is a great actor. It is hard to use him in the script because Ironside played an instructor at Top Gun School. SInce the movie Top Gun School has experienced many changes due to technology. Ironside if not a retired officer when MAVERICK was made according to the movie would be an Admiral at the 3 Star level. This would not be easy to incorporate into the new movie. It is surprising that they would even be able to incorporate Ed Harris' role into this movie. Ironside is a great actor.
This is where Roxy shines! She is bold enough to interject on personal things, but aware that this is a Star. She doesn't pull her usual "hijinks" with a guy of this calibre. And she kicked ass in this segment.
Ironside looks the same haha. He's always looked 50 haha. I remember seeing him for the first time in free Willy haha. Then starship troopers, perfect storm, and all the others everyone mentions
Michael Ironside looks good. With all the delays and delays and delays with this movie I'm sure they will have LOTS of time to add a scene with him in it.
Ironside seems like such a real, down to earth kinda guy.
He worked as a roofer in Toronto back in the day...tough work
I always thought he should've been a bigger star. So underrated.
