    They can be pilots cause their mother are the EVAs...(It's not just a robot)
    Shinji's mother Yui is in Eva01.
    Asuka's mother (part of her soul) is in Eva02.
    Rei is the Clone of Yui and also a part of Lilith.
    There are the reasons why they become pilots...

      Also, they needed to be 14, because they were born after the Second Impact, which took place only like 15 years before the start of the series. Only kids could pilot the Evas.

  • @justanotheryoutubechannel
    @justanotheryoutubechannel 5 лет назад +10

    It’s a common misconception that it’s never explained why 14 year olds have to pilot the Evangelions, but it is. Only children born after the Second Impact can synchronise with the Evangelions, as the second impact changed the genetics of humanity. The Second Impact takes place in late 2000, so in early 2015 when the show takes place, the Second Impact was 14 years ago.

This one was always a tricky one to find anywhere to watch til a few days ago unless you bought the dvd/vhs set. I thought it was pretty good for a 1990s anime but the last few episodes were pretty damn bizarre. I'm impressed that you decided to review a 1990s anime, would love to see you do more. Great show, the English dub felt cheap. "it never really explains why" what? Yes they did, very clearly explained why. They aren't robots but more like giant clone cyborgs, and how each was made *spoilers* necessitates a comparable pilot. Its even strongly hinted in episode 1.

    Translation difference is negligible "Love" is an emotion of different degrees, cultural nuances of context determines the hierarchy. So crying about this is pointless & ironic coming from the anime LGBTQ community forcing gender stereotypes on a subjective emotion.
    worth it to point out, Kaworu is actually saying "そう、好意に値するよ" where 好意 is "koui," not "koi" or 恋. 好意 can be translated to grace, BUT!! it would have been better to translate this as "You are worthy of affection."

  • @nancyjay790
    @nancyjay790 5 лет назад +2

    In the first episode, Shinji at first refuses to "get in the robot", so his father demands that another pilot be brought in. Then a girl on a medical gurney is wheeled in. She's bandaged all over, and has an IV in her, yet she starts to try to get up. More happens, but Shinji realizing that this girl will fight if he will not is what makes him agree. That's a very different character dynamic.

  • @kittykatjagirl
    @kittykatjagirl 4 года назад +1

    I sat on this show for a while because someone told me how disappointed they were in Shinji‘s character...and that halted my intrigue almost completely. Since my own curiosity got the best of me, (eventually three years later,) I gave it a go. I was honestly bracing myself to see a whiny baby I’d hate for 26 episodes. That expectation was gone after the first episode. I’ve enjoyed the show a lot and I honestly want to get a physical copy for myself.
    Judge something for yourself before taking someone else’s advice. Food for thought.

    I've bingewatched the whole series on a rainy sunday when I was 17 (13 years ago) in a japanese version with subs. It was too heavy to do that to be honest. I felt it was really tough stuff, though the personality development, I totally missed that part back then. Now that you say it, I see it. The series were badly animated (now I know why) and the last episodes were just terribly bad. The first movie fixed that issue. But it was a great story. I never felt connected to any of those people in the story to be honest, but I was curious about what was going to happen. Overall a classic, but not my taste: 6,5 out of 10

    Ok so im internally devided. Becauase i watched it ages ago and the friend i watched it with side by side has since passed away. We were both in our mid teens and rewatching the original dub was how i connect nostalgically with that era. That being said i dont think the new dub is bad... its more or less just boring. The emotional tones to me seem muted and so while the interest of the story remains the emotional flavor seems to be absent. However that may be more or less nostalgia talking. Those actors in the dubs are so prolific that there voice became kinda iconic, so these charecters became more or foreign and i no longer get sent back in time. The ending is sad to see go. Its not that it was wrong to do but listening to 26 veriations of fly me to the moon made me stay beyond the show and through the credits, now i just skip them.

  • @FBR247

    While the last few episodes does look like it lost some of its budget, albeit very blatantly there, and has its artistic values to it, Hideki Ano produced those last few episodes as how they intended to be. It wasn’t that the episodes were made on low budget, but was made into something very abstract, psychological, philosophical, and mind bending enough to get you thinking a lot. Visuals aside, the key things about those last few were especially on the psyche of the characters and dialogue.
    And then you have End of Evangelion...”it all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down...”
    I recommend watching this video to understand more about the last few episodes on NGE:
    ruclips.net/video/0pG2PgxOmfw/видео.html

  • @josegarza48
    @josegarza48 5 лет назад

    I honestly find it illogical for so many fans of NGE to claim that The End of Evangelion is the true ending to the series when both the movie and Episodes 25 and 26 are depicting the exact same ending, just one is showing what is happening in the world and the other showing what is happening in Shinji’s mind. Also, the religious symbolism is significant to the ongoing themes to the show and were not there just for imagery as many want to believe, but to invoke philosophical discussion of living and the soul as many religions.

    It was good up until the last three or four episodes if you want to include the movie. The ending was nonsense, it was like watching someones mental process dealing with hang ups over sex and religion with your standard schoolgirl perversions and Hiroshima thrown in the mix. Hitting an issue is like shooting fish in a barrel. Honestly, even back then all I wanted was death-bots and psychological trauma and espionage, not sex and religious issues, some of us masturbated guilt free. Keep it Gundam

      From what I've heard they actually made it more accurate to the Japanese script. The Kaworu part is more of a gray area because of how certain words in Japanese work... But there was actually a mistranslation regarding Lilith and Addam that the new dub fixed. So it's the more accurate one from what I've heard.
