This happened with me too. The first winter when I met my gf, I wore Tom Ford Noir Extreme every time I saw her. When Spring and Summer came around I put it to the back of my shelf and wore my fresher scents. The following year when the weather cooled down again in Autumn, I wore Noir Extreme again and she went absolutely feral, smelling me non stop and said it brought back all the memories of our time together the previous year when we first met. I have 40+ frags in my collection, so I could have easily worn something different on each date, but then it wouldn’t have had that effect. Made me realise I really don’t need all of them. Only a few that I love. Great content and nice to see a fellow Aussie making frag content !
I got a feeling your channel will grow huge, people like your style of talking about perfume and your personal experience with perfumes and you know what you talking about. You remind me of The Perfume Guy, coincidentally I followed him when his channel was very small, he had 3k subs then and I just followed your channel at 2k subs.
I smelled The One Sport for the first time in 6-7 years and it brought back a flood of emotions. Memories of freedom, exploring the world and being a bright eyed young man. Powerful stuff, almost shed a tear. I love having a family but damn, being young and handsome sure is fun!
@@hey.alexedwards seasonal signatures conceptually, are the best of both worlds. I have HACIVAT for summer and Enscens Sauve for winters as my signature for now . Maybe when I turn 30 I’d just wear Sultan Vetiver as my only signature. Hope my kids remember me by that scent.
A lot of greed plays into marketing and buying more and more. I appreciate new releases be it cars, watches, sneakers or fragrances. But I love what I chose and I take time to do so. It’s a sorted concept with everything in life, even relationships and dating. At the end of the day it’s a first world problem to have. We are privileged to have that choice. Let’s choose wisely :)
It's interesting that you chose Green Irish Tweed as your signature scent. Green Irish Tweed and Cool Water are considered very similar by many people, specially in the dry down (Creed is more expensive and with better ingredients but the result is surprisingly similar), so perhaps the fact that your father had Cool Water as his signature scent and that you associate this scent with your childhood and (I guess) good memories with your father, explains why you choose Green Irish Tweed.
Thanks an interesting thought - they're also by the same perfumer haha! I find the opening much more similar. The dry down is quite different in my experience. You could be right though. Perhaps this scent profile reminds me of my father, and helps me feel like the man I want to be.
GIT has one of the most fantastic dry downs of any fragrance and it’s quite different from the opening. The best example of that signature Creed “ambergris” base in my opinion. Royal Oud is still my favourite but it’s more of a special occasion/dressing up fragrance than a signature scent.
@@hey.alexedwards BTW, I realize I share your taste in perfumery, my favourite fragrances are also Green Irish Tweed, Noir Extreme and Dior Homme Intense (or Prada L'Homme Intense). So I dare to recommend you also CH Men (Carolina Herrera), with a grass opening (fresh and green, similar to GIT), but with a leather dry down, wich is very versatile; and also Herod (PDM), as a winter signature, a tobacco vanille combo with incense, very warm.
To have a collection and to select a signature scent is quite challenging. I tend to wear more aromatic and fougere fragrances, and probably my signature scent lies in these families. GIT is one that i consider chosing as my signature scent, however, during this summer, LV Imagination is gathering quite a space within my rotation. It is another heavy contender for the spot! Nice video, and nice way to approach within the fragcom! 🇧🇷
Your a breath of fresh air within the fragrance minefield of fragrance influencers who get freebies and push their products even though they may smell like rotten eggs . Kind regards from Scotland 🏴
He reminds me of The Perfume Guy, both knows what they talking about instead of making list upon list of perfumes, which I find gimmicky and I'm not into.
my signature scent is still dior sauvage edp. i have tons of fragrances and yet i still keep on using my sauvage. idc about what people will say that i smell like everyone else, yet i haven't came across someone using sauvage edp hahaha it just suits my personality and style well and it already marked an impression to my close friends and people, that when they can smell the scent they know i'm already around.
Just answer back with this. "Do I smell like everyone else or does everyone else smell like me" if you feel confident wearing Dior Sauvage.... wear it confidently. :)
That scent is a masterpiece and somehow still the strongest in my collection. The density, the projection, the longevity, the beautiful scent of effervescent and textured top notes followed by the soapy lavender, masculine woods, and ethereal ambroxan, not to mention the best-in-class atomizer and overall presentation. Dior ticked all of the boxes with this scent and it’s still my favorite from the line.
A scent or a song have the ability to trigger memories that are way back in the depths of your mind. Smelling a scent or hearing a song will instantly awaken dormant memories.
This is such a great video, and you're such a well-spoken man! I love every detail. I live in a country where many people use cheap knock-off perfumes, so I feel more confident and lucky wearing unique, complex scents. I would say i'm not a 1 parfum person i have many decant i love changing a lot depend on situation and the people i will meet.
My favorite is Casamorati Italica though some might consider it a bit feminine but I love wearing it at my age, as I can pull off sweet fragrances easily. My second favorite is Mancera Cedrat Boise for casual days.
I have a 20 bottles collection (and I'm planning on not purchasing any more, I'm satisfied with the current state). My current signature scent is Prada Luna Rossa EDT, I find it to be very versatile, understated and quite unique (and smells amazing). In the past my signatures were ADG profondo and Boss Bottled Infinite. Great content Alex, keep it up!
"Signature Scent Profiles" is a perfect way to consider building a small collection. One of the best compliments I ever got wasn't from a stranger or from a date but from my sister. I was wearing The Hedonist by Ex Nihilo, which falls into the scent profile of Vibrato/Tygar etc., and I asked her what she thought and she said "it smells like you". Even though it was the first time I'd ever worn it, I understood what she meant. That grapefruit forward, sweet and citric but more elevated and not a simple "freshie" scent profile just suits how I dress and how my personality is, so I have several fragrances that smell like that and rotate through them. But they all smell like "me" to me, and to other people.
I don’t even know what I like I’ve been looking for years to find a signature scent😂 the battle right know is between Dior homme 2020 and gisada ambassador two completely different fragrances but both versatile. I swear this is hard 😭😭 great video by the way keep growing mate
Awesome video! My first signature scent was Ralph lauren romance, I “borrowed” it from my mom when i was 15 🤣 then i just loved it and repurchased it couple more times, then it was dior homme intense for 4-5 years, now after collecting for almost half a year I think I’ll settle on Armani code epd or Summer hammer by Lorenzo pazzaglia
Alex. Once again a superb video/content. And indeed subject. Signature scent...more in a moment. Firstly, I am sure it will not be long before You are snapped up by one of Australia's TV channels. You would make a first class presenter. Correct me if wrong ( and I think someone has already commented) You do these videos unscripted? And no editing? What a skill! Confidence and always assured. Incredible! 👌. Back to the subject. Yes like you Prada Amber. Many, many years now. And I always associate with my visits to London. I have the Prada Amber limited edition travel canister. Amazing! Metal, chrome . Beautiful. When travelling, perfect. Also as I have said Comme des Garçons fragrances...Man, Oduer 71 and so on. That said in summer I like to wear Mr. Burberry Indigo...mint is ever present. Reviewers don't rate Mr. Burberry fragrances but I really like. Original 1980s Armani Homme, long discontinued is a classic. I tend to avoid " sweet" fragrances. Ok, can I ask You consider a video about your tattoos please? Tattoos and Men is for me very interesting. I am old school in every sense and have no tattoos. Would be fascinating to get your take on tattoos and Men like You. Young, professional, business owner and your social circle. Thank You. Really appreciate your channel. 👍💯
Keith, thank you for such a kind and honest comment. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and share your thoughts. I will absolutely be talking about my tattoos soon (and why I'm currently in the process of having them removed) Thanks again!
This is the reason I still wear Abercrombie & Fitch FIERCE. The reformulation has gone bad but I got lucky to buy 2010 batch and been saving it. But boy this reminds me of college days when life is more simple, walking in the mall smelling the entire building with that signature scent. You know it’s Abercrombie when you’re near their store. Reminds me of my old clubbing days, MySpace and early RUclips era
This is a great topic! You are so right about scent being tied to memory. My father used to use Vitalis hair tonic. I do today, and it always reminds me of him dressing for work! Having a signature scent was the de facto standard when I was young. My father had one (Old Spice) and most men who wore scents wore the same one. And I did too for the first 30 years. Gucci Nobile was the first one for about 7 years, then Acqua Di Gio for about 20 years. But now that my interest in fragrances has blossomed, I'll have to consider what will be next. I like the idea of seasonal signatures. Wanting a signature scent is one factor that makes me question having a collection of scents, but I suppose it is a balance of two goals: being memorable via scent and exploring a passion. Just have to not let it get out of control 😉.
Signature scents for me match my interests and style, can last a solid amount of time, are versatile and take you from work to play effortlessly, all year. I enjoy all 3 of them every time inwear them, and will wear one of them at least every week. When I dont know what to wear, i can always reach for one of them. I found 3 for myself. Thameen Insignia, Monsillage Vol 870 YUL-CDG and Amouage Dia Man
I’m a woman and wear more feminine leaning or unisex fragrances but this was an excellent video and still so applicable. One of the many reasons I’m moving away from collecting is that it makes me slightly sad that people probably don’t associate a fragrance with me because I change them up so much! Also love how practical your advice is for those who still want to collect but are leaning towards narrowing it down to a signature (or seasonal) scent
I've just bought my new signature scent- Albaura by Kindom Scotland. It's notes are poppies, moss and ice. It's floral, cool and deep and although I have expensive bottles in my collection (Terenzi ect) its the cheapest perfume I own- but its my favourite. Thank you for a great video
Spot on about loving your signature scent. I have 80+ bottles in my collection. Yet, I still wear Diesel Fuel For Life more than anything. I’ve worn it since middle school. People know me by that scent. I embrace and love that scent. If anything, I get more compliments on the scent because of my confidence with it!
Have just very recently started getting into niche fragrances (totally understand why you chose Green Irish tweet and it MIGHT be on my list for summer as I still need to sample all my potential summer fragrances since it winter in Europe now). I do need to throw in Armani Code 2022 perfume as a signature scent in here. I barely see ANY occasion where you would not be able to pull it off. The balance of freshness and richness truly is one of a kind. It’s absolutely one of the perfumes I would always go for a 125ml bottle as I would definitely wear it throughout the year. Also, in colder weather I find Prada Lhomme intense incredibly versatile. It’s also a scent you can easily wear at work as well as on formal occasions.
@@hey.alexedwardsthanks mate. You mentioned noir extreme to be your winter signature. Does it still work on your skin? I’ve had the feeling projection and longevity has decreased ridiculously, which is why I probably won’t repurchase it even though I do love the DNA. Now, it literally vanishes after 90 minutes. What’s your experience ?
@@benb5916I've had exactly the same experience, so I overspray and often layer with Molecule 02 to enhance it slightly. Unfortunately Estee Lauder has degraded Tom Ford significantly.
Mugler Angel was love at first sniff 30 years and collection of 300 bottles it’s still my favourite. Leaves a massive trail and I like to leave impressions
Just found your channel and I absolutely enjoy your take on fragrances. I have 40+ bottle collection and need to slow down and enjoy what I have. Instead of impulse buying every time I get paid 😂
Right now it’s Tom Ford EAU D’ombre Leather! That dry down is amazing, but I feel like Invictus Victory is a close second. Keep up the good work btw, great stuff
I am also a collector and I have always wanted to just wear one signature scent all the time and associate with THAT only. I also love my prada amber pour homme it is in my top picks if i were to only wear one scent
I'm pretty new to fragrances but for the work environment, Prada L'Homme just seems so right; inoffensive and smells great. Outside of work, I find myself dumbreaching for the new Armani Code EDP 2024 most days. I just love the gourmand fizzy nutmeg from this fragrance. It doesn't project like crazy so i feel I can wear it anytime, anywhere. Will have to see how it holds up when Spring/Summer start to creep in.
Your powdery vibe is associated with iris i think. We have similar tastes in fragrances and this is the note that made me like prada l'homme, GIT , DHI, dunhill icon, Gris Charnel, Reflection man & Beloved man. I even think that this vibe is what made you think prada amber had iris in it (even if it's not the case) In my head, powdery scents (when masculine) really gives off the idea of a nice gentleman/family man that is kind and cares about others. I like it when i can get the combination of citrusy leaf/orange blossom/neroli, a powdery touch (iris) & a woody base. You can find this concept in most of the fragrances i talked about. So yeah a signature scent profile is really a thing, and it's a great thing to explore for people that don't want to stick to one fragrance but still want to give a distinct vibe. For me a good collection is 70% signature scent profile and 30% explorative/different scents to keep it playful. Ps : i live by the beach and i have POAL and you're right, very hard to pull off.😅
I have 4 signature scents, one for each season. Creed GIT in spring, Roja Burlington 1819 in summer, Zaharoff Tabac in autumn (used to be Dior Homme Intense) and New Haarlem by Bond no.9 for winter
Again Alex, so on point! Really enjoying your perspective on the world of fragrance. I have too many bottles to pin-point a signature scent and recognise I lean heavily towards woody orientals. But I have expanded to some other profiles over the last couple of years. I’m now only purchasing new fragrances that I really love and can’t stop thinking about having sampled and worn multiple times. Perhaps a suggestion for a future video with consumption in mind…other ways to enjoy the fragrances you have rather than constantly looking for the next one? Learning more about individual notes, detecting the same note in a few fragrances you have whether that be in the opening, mid or base, or maybe the history of the perfume house if you have multiple from them 😊
Additionally, maybe learning more about individual perfumers. Checking out if you own a few from the same perfumer? Recently by chance just by learning a little more about a fragrance I can’t stop thinking about since sampling (we’re talking eyes shut, rocking myself in the corner saying “you can’t buy another fragrance, you don’t NEED it!”) I’ve learnt the same perfumer is responsible for multiple fragrances from a different house that I purchased and enjoyed more than a decade ago.
@@cocokane4655 That's another great point. There are 2 perfumers whose fragrances I consistently love. I tend to explore fragrances from perfumers like this, so that's a cool idea for a video too.
Hi Alex! I have a favourite scent profile. The ones I like the most are fresh, clean and citrusy. I don't like anything dark or misterious. Chance eau Fraiche by Chanel will always be one of my favourites. Nice video, as always❤
Valentino Born In Roma Coral Fantasy for me. 30+ bottles and that’s the only scent i’ve had to repurchase. Super versatile and such a unique but easily wearable scent
In my head aqua di gio is my signature scent. It’s what got me into fragrance and I’ve probably worn it more than anything else. My friends and family would absolutely say it’s Versace man eau fraiche. Any occasion, any weather, you could find me wearing this, particularly in high school.
Insightful thoughts on signature scents, especially with them being memorable and meaningful to both others and ourselves. My "signature" is a bit of an unusual one borne from accident: Oribe Côte d'Azur (the scent in their haircare products I use) layered with Spectre Wraith (I adore Kilian's Black Phantom which I first owned, but liked the ever-so-slight emphasis of earthy woodiness of Wraith to pick it this time around). The bergamot top note in Côte d'Azur uplifts the dark, flatter nature of Wraith, followed by a drydown that blends the sandalwood and vetiver DNA they share. Not too sweet, not too brooding, and less polarizing...perhaps an odd contradiction on paper, but complementary to the impression others have of me being just approachable enough with my polite (but somewhat stern) personality. If I had to pick a scent that's meaningful to me though...Tom Ford Black Lacquer. Very dark, enveloping, and comfortingly familiar. I mostly wear this as a "home" fragrance, and it reminds me of a pastime that matters most: exploring creative ideas on my bass guitar during time alone, playing uninterrupted into the late night hours. :)
I have to many fragrances to choose one specific one as my signature.😅 My first signature was Lacoste Red. After that it was Creed Aventus. If I had to choose one for every situation and to growing old with it would be Brunello Cucinelli Pour Homme. Fresh, fruity, green, earthy and the most important thing: classic and timeless. A real gentleman scent for every situation (job, free time, date, sport, suit, ...).
I agree with all the points you made…my favorite fragrance in my 10 bottle collection is JPG Le Male Le Parfum. Even though it’s not the most versatile for the climate I live it’s my cool/cold weather signature duo along with Azzaro TMW Parfum. For warmer weather my duo is Dior Homme 2020 and Y Le Parfum
I had the same Idea when it comes to Signature Scents. The Scent creates emotions and memories. I had long times only 1 that changed. First DHI, Then Musc Ravageur and then Aventus. Now I have 5. But in my opinion, having more then 10 Fragrances will make it hard to have a Signature Scent. What I dont care anymore is the Situation or location. I think if you feel comfortable and elevated with a Scent, you can wear it in any weather, situation or any season. I dont want to limit my Scents to a special season or occasion. Thats why I just pick one of my 5 and go out no matter what.
Another great video. Tom Ford Nior Extreme is my favorite fall and winter fragrance and I’m starting to run low and was wondering if you had any experience with the Parfum version? Thanks
Funny enough, I haven't settled on a Sig.scent ever since i started collecting 4 or 5 years ago. But in the early 2000s and 2010s, I used Versace Dreamer, CK Contradiction For Men and Samsara. Now with abou a 50 to 100 scents at a time, i don't have a signature scent. Thanks for bringing this up Alex.❤
I've had many 'signatures' over the years, but presently I've settled on Acqua Di Sale (I live by the sea!), Wulong Cha and Declaration D'un Soir as my go to's. Even as I write this I'm thinking "Wait, what about...."? So I guess signatures will always change. As my daughter said to me the other day - "You smell nice, always....." 😀
My signature is the original Chanel Allure Homme. I don't even care that it's been reformulated, I never knew the original formulation anyway. I just love how it's subtly sweet, subtly warm, just a hint of spice, slightly fruity. It's relaxed and I'm a chill dude.
One of the shalimar flankers would be my signature, but it was a short term release. I feel reluctant to say it’s my signature when I know it will run out! I do hope they bring it back.
I have around 30 frags and prada lhomme intense edp is the one i cant stop using and im about to think that is my signature sent. Ive even where it if im just at home all day.
I have one rule for a "signature scent". It must be a fragrance i can wear any day or night, any time of year, and for any occasion (although not weddings and stuff. That calls for a special fragrance). My signature scent is Zaharoff, Signature Pour Homme. Clean, woody, and a little incense. Works for all but the hottest days where i live (Norway). Usually we get 10-15 days a year with temperatures close to 30C (86F). Most of summer is around 25C (77F). Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme works beautifully up to that temperature. Of course, i have 60 fragrances, so i often wear something other then my "signature scent". So if it's Actually my signature scent, i don't really know. But it works as one, at the very least. ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼
Correct. But beyond that, you should be recognised by it as well. Ideally, it should smell distinctive enough so you're not smelling like everyone's ex/dad/uncle, etc.
It's very tough for me to choose a single signature scent because I either get bored or anosmic to it. I use to wear Aventus to work almost every day and got good reactions but I only smelled it on me for 10 minutes and I do want to smell my fragrance on me since I'm wearing it mostly for my self esteem. I am now more in a seasonal degree phase: 35°C+: nothing 30-35°C: Individuel, Virgin Island Water 20-30°C: Aventus Cologne, Aventus 10-20°C: Silver Mt. Water, Reflection Man 0-10°C: Ganymede, Red Tobacco -X°C: Interlude + Interlude 53 Special events warm: Torino 21 Special events cold: Tobacolor
1:37 Definitely understand this sentiment. My dad has always had Leau Dissey as his signature for as long as I can remember and it reminds me of home and my childhood too. Might even be the reason that I like freshies so much. I've got a doggo and he is the reason that I know I have got a signature scent that even I didn't know about. I have about 15 perfumes in my collection and although I do rotate regularly, apparently I must be wearing one more without my realisation cause when my doggo smells Burlington 1819... I don't even have to be near him, he just gets excited. I just spray it on in my room and he can smell it and gets up. When I wear other stuff, he can't be bothered until he sees me but Burlington 1819 makes him get up and wait for me to come downstairs. Even when my dad tried it, he was looking for me when my dad came down and he was fully awake and excited. Didn't even know that it was my signature scent until he started reacting to it like that 😂 Not sure about my friends cause I have never asked them if they noticed but I know my family thinks Burlington 1819 is me cause my doggo does this at home. Definitely fun to know that at least to him, there is a scent that he associated me with 👍
I believe it works in all seasons. Typically warm weather scents work well in autumn and winter as well, but cold weather scents are best reserved for cold weather otherwise you'll probably offend people.
Just started out with fragrances last year, and while I still haven't found a singular signature scent, though I''ve come to like Guerlain's fragrances - if I had to only wear one thing everyday both casually on the weekends and at the office, it would be something from the Habit Rouge line (EDT/EDP/Parfum), and I've been wearing Neroli Outrenoir for the special occasions. I find that Habit Rouge with the different concentrations are apt for the warm vs. cold weather, since EDT works during warmer weather, and the Parfum works well in winter. So maybe finding a scent, and trying the different concentrations might also be a method to get a different scent, whilst still having a similar base.
Shhhh not so loudly on the Amber Pour homme. It's my signature scent and I buy the bottles anytime I see them at a good price. At one point you could get them for as cheap as $45USD. Now the prices are slowly climbing up. Gatekeep it! lol. I think I have like 17 bottles NIB sealed. (I got lucky during covid a Fragrance boutique in the shopping centre was having a liquidation so i went in and bought their inventory of it for little to nothing and the last 6 bottles of Silver Mountain Water).
17 bottles of APH? Haha I think you're set man. But I get you. I don't mind talking about it these days because most guys aren't into that scent profile any more.
@@hey.alexedwards LOL that was a typo! I meant to say 7 Bottles! That said... if there was a frag to hoard APH would be my top choice. You're right about guys not being into the scent profile today. These days everyone wants in on the current oud/middle eastern trend esp after such a long Blue era everyone was in.
Noir Extreme EDP is a masterpiece. Have you tried the parfum? I really wish Costa Azzura was stronger and it would probably be my new spring/summer go to.
It's fantastic! As for the parfum, it smells like if you sprayed the EDP into an old dirty ashtray. I really dislike it. Costa Azzura is pretty long-lasting in my experience. Maybe just different batches?
I’ve always wanted a signature fragrance but sadly I can’t wear the same fragrance for more than a couple of days…if I did it would probably be something by Dior or Guerlain
Prada l’homme is my favorite ever, but it lasts max 3 hours on my skin😓. Not lying I sprayed and smelled the exact spot every hour, it was gone by 3 hours
@Jhart44 I get that. Prada L'Homme is essentially clear though, so you should be fine. I spray it on my clothes and haven't had any issues. Just spray from a little further away so it's not all concentrated in one area.
Fragrance performance is really weird. Most fragrances fade pretty quickly on me, but prada l'homme goes absolutely nuclear. More than 3 sprays would probably make the sprinklers go off and bring in the fire department, I'm so confused😂
Sorry for the incoming semi-dramatic longpost :P I have a different position in regards to what a signature scent is. To me it doesn't have to be versatile, it doesn't have to be worn often or not something people know you by. To me a signature scent is one that fits your personality in every way, presentation, concept and obviously scent. One that speaks to you on a personal level, a mirror reflection of yourself when no one else is looking. A signature scent doesn't have to be a billboard, a stamp or an advertisement that announces you to others in my opinion. A more mature man might identify with a resinous, dense scent...something like Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan or Roja Apex. A businessman with a classy side will pair up with a citrusy woody perfume like Terre D'Hermes. A playful young guy that has no worries and attends partys often might identify with Invictus or Ultramale. An ambitious and driven personality that isn't very emotional would wear Dior Sauvage or Aventus. Someone who likes comfort and cozyness might enjoy a thick, tea-like, warm amber fragrance. A classy woman might identify with a reserved, french, oldschool aldehydic musk like Chanel No. 5, or perhaps a green floral or why not a citrusy woody scent like Bal D'Afrique. A young energetic woman or girl that enjoys living life to the fullest can choose a bubble gummy sweet perfume like L'Inderdit or something along the line of La Vie est Belle. A domineering, not to mess with woman might wear a rose oud perfume. Or you might be an androginous person and wear a unisex scent that tiptoes between gender markers. It doesn't have to fit in every situation and every season, a signature scent doesn't have to be a "one size fits all" perfume that is bordering on the generic because lets be honest, often versatility equals generic and then its a signature scent for EVERYONE. It has to describe YOU on a deeper level. I have about 30 fragrances in my collection and they are quiet different, i like them all very much but in reality only about 2 of them fit my deepest personality traits, hence why they aren't signature scents. They are just "clothes" for different ocassions, scenarios and seasons.
I don't like to have a signature fragrance. Especially in the case of men, we grew up (gen x here), being told that we should focus on important or at the very least "manly" things, not frivolous stuff like fragrances. So generations of men just looked for one scent they liked, bought it for eternity and that was it. That's why they had something like a signature scent. No care or time spent to really discover the world of scents or fashion. Today men can have it differently. Understanding that we have different facets, we can play with scents, having fun with it. I fully lean into it. At the very least I would suggest men changing up their perfumes regurarly for the sake of not getting agnostic to just one scent.
I completely understand where you're coming from, and appreciate your thoughts on this. My immediate response would be that I agree that it's a positive to be able to be more expressive and enjoy trying/wearing different scents. In saying that, I also believe that through hopping from scent-to-scent, style-to-style, etc., we lose a sense of distinct character. Of course, who we are at our core, our values, etc. are what truly define us, but our style, scent, hairstyle, etc. also play a role. If everything we do differs so drastically in the name of self-expression, I feel that we ALL lose our differentiating factors. Does that make sense? I could be way off, but that's how I see it. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
Regards Alex. Very nice ideas and suggestions here. For someone like me, might be better not having a signature scent 😅🤷🏼♂️, I actually don’t have one anymore. Since I have so many fragrances I love, I have “fun” with the struggle of having to choose which one to wear for the day. I live on the Caribbean, here we have an eternal summer weather. However, I love dark, woody, leathery, boosy, mature fragrances, commonly used for fall, winter and spring seasons, but I have all types of fragrances. So, I have no choice but to wear them when ever I desire them 🤷🏼♂️. However, the mainstream of my daily activities happens within air conditioned places. So, I try to strategically wear all my fragrances depending on the place I will be moving around, taking in consideration the versatility of the fragrance and controlling the amount of spraying if I will be in and out environment during the day. I love the idea of classifying my fragrances by seasons, but I have to make a plan to look for the right spot to do so. I’m almost out of space to accommodate them. 🫣🙃😇
@ Exactly. Nevertheless, our “winter,” temperatures might only drops like 10 to 15 degrees from normal, mostly during the night on the populated city areas (right now is 23 degrees celsius/11:50pm). On the countryside, specifically on the hills, temperatures cold drops somewhat more dramatically, they could experience 8 to 10 degrees celsius. The rest of the year we have 30 degrees and above day and night. 🥵

Very true. Thanks for the support!
Thank you!
I smelled The One Sport for the first time in 6-7 years and it brought back a flood of emotions. Memories of freedom, exploring the world and being a bright eyed young man. Powerful stuff, almost shed a tear. I love having a family but damn, being young and handsome sure is fun!
Wow, that's powerful! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Perfect ! This information is so simple yet so important in the community. Hype kills uniqueness and Signatures build character.
I agree. Character is lost when everyone wears exactly the same thing.
@RubenBose I think seasonal signatures makes the most sense as well. Sultan Vetiver sounds great. I need to try Nishane.
@RubenBose exactly right
It's interesting that you chose Green Irish Tweed as your signature scent.
Exactly what I was thinking 👍
@@EOTA564 I have to agree with this!
🇧🇷
Sounds like you have great taste! Thanks for the support
Thank you for your thoughts!
Thanks!
my signature scent is still dior sauvage edp. i have tons of fragrances and yet i still keep on using my sauvage. idc about what people will say that i smell like everyone else, yet i haven't came across someone using sauvage edp hahaha it just suits my personality and style well and it already marked an impression to my close friends and people, that when they can smell the scent they know i'm already around.
As they say, "it's popular for a reason"
Just answer back with this. "Do I smell like everyone else or does everyone else smell like me" if you feel confident wearing Dior Sauvage.... wear it confidently. :)
That scent is a masterpiece and somehow still the strongest in my collection. The density, the projection, the longevity, the beautiful scent of effervescent and textured top notes followed by the soapy lavender, masculine woods, and ethereal ambroxan, not to mention the best-in-class atomizer and overall presentation. Dior ticked all of the boxes with this scent and it’s still my favorite from the line.
Really pleased I found your channel. Its gave me some pause for thought for my own channel
Glad to hear it! Thanks for stopping by.
A scent or a song have the ability to trigger memories that are way back in the depths of your mind. Smelling a scent or hearing a song will instantly awaken dormant memories.
Absolutely!
I'll always stay loyal to Aventus, it's the most fitting for my style and personality!
Also great content, always excited when you upload 🙌
Thank you for the support! Aventus is a classic
Nice video! I got Guerlain Vetiver EDT as my daily signature and then Creed Erolfa for summer and Chanel Coromandel for winter.
Beautiful taste. Love it!
Last time I saw a vid from u, u were at like 100 subs, congrats for growing so fast!
Thank you - it's grown super quickly
This is the content we need! Not just some top 10 panty dropper or most complimented or newest release crap
I agree. Thanks for watching!
I didn't realize you were such a new RUclipsr. You make awesome videos, dude!
Thanks legend! Only a few weeks in.
Thank you for the kind words - it sounds like you have fantastic taste.
Very nice choice, and thanks for watching
Appreciate these vids always bro
Appreciate you checking in!
Liking the video before it even starts because i have that much faith in Alex and his videos
That's a huge compliment. Thank you
"Signature Scent Profiles" is a perfect way to consider building a small collection.
That's an excellent compliment!
I don’t even know what I like I’ve been looking for years to find a signature scent😂 the battle right know is between Dior homme 2020 and gisada ambassador two completely different fragrances but both versatile. I swear this is hard 😭😭 great video by the way keep growing mate
Both great choices! Thanks for watching
Dunhill Icon and Guerlain Heritage EDT are my signature scent.
Dunhill Icon is fantastic, and pretty much anything by Guerlain is too. Nice taste!
Armani Code EDP is a great signature!
I will absolutely be talking about my tattoos soon (and why I'm currently in the process of having them removed)
Thanks again!
Nothing like a bit of nostalgia!
Exactly right - it's fun to explore, but worth keeping in check
Signature scents for me match my interests and style, can last a solid amount of time, are versatile and take you from work to play effortlessly, all year.
I enjoy all 3 of them every time inwear them, and will wear one of them at least every week.
When I dont know what to wear, i can always reach for one of them.
I found 3 for myself. Thameen Insignia, Monsillage Vol 870 YUL-CDG and Amouage Dia Man
Great taste! I agree completely with being able to take you from work to play, etc.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Glad to hear my advice resonates
That sounds quite lovely!
If that works for you, that's all that matters! Especially if you have a history with it.
Sounds like you have excellent taste!
Angel is stunning!
Just found your channel and I absolutely enjoy your take on fragrances. I have 40+ bottle collection and need to slow down and enjoy what I have. Instead of impulse buying every time I get paid 😂
I'm glad it resonates with you! Do you have a favourite?
Right now it’s Tom Ford EAU D’ombre Leather! That dry down is amazing, but I feel like Invictus Victory is a close second. Keep up the good work btw, great stuff
I am also a collector and I have always wanted to just wear one signature scent all the time and associate with THAT only. I also love my prada amber pour homme it is in my top picks if i were to only wear one scent
There's something appealing about having just one signature scent!
Prada L'Homme is a true masterpiece in my opinion. Armani Code EDP is excellent too, but unfortunately doesn't work well on my skin.
Your powdery vibe is associated with iris i think. We have similar tastes in fragrances and this is the note that made me like prada l'homme, GIT , DHI, dunhill icon, Gris Charnel, Reflection man & Beloved man. I even think that this vibe is what made you think prada amber had iris in it (even if it's not the case)
In my head, powdery scents (when masculine) really gives off the idea of a nice gentleman/family man that is kind and cares about others.
Ps : i live by the beach and i have POAL and you're right, very hard to pull off.😅
I agree, and you're right. Iris has always been my favourite note.
Love the content mate.....highly appreciated
Thanks legend!
So glad I found your channel ❤
Thank you. Glad to have you here.
Another banger video man! Selfishly, I wish you would only make fragrance videos. Best of wishes to you!
Thank you! Haha unfortunately not. I'll talk a lot about fragrances, but there's more that matters to me.
You do you. I’m a fan!
I have 4 signature scents, one for each season. Creed GIT in spring, Roja Burlington 1819 in summer, Zaharoff Tabac in autumn (used to be Dior Homme Intense) and New Haarlem by Bond no.9 for winter
Beautiful selections! Thanks for sharing yours.
and am a big wearer of Prada Amber pour homme ... i have 3rd bottle of it .... sadly discontinued if am not mistaken
Unfortunately it has been discontinued but it's still available in certain regions. In Australia there are still bottles at discounters, etc.
My signature scent is Bois Imperial, it works well all year round. Great video btw
Classic. Nice choice! And thank you
Again Alex, so on point!
Learning more about individual notes, detecting the same note in a few fragrances you have whether that be in the opening, mid or base, or maybe the history of the perfume house if you have multiple from them 😊
That's a great idea for a future video, thanks for your suggestion! And thank you for the support.
@@hey.alexedwards Daniela Andrier?
@cocokane4655 Keen eye. It certainly is Daniela Andrier.
Hi Alex! I have a favourite scent profile. The ones I like the most are fresh, clean and citrusy. I don't like anything dark or misterious. Chance eau Fraiche by Chanel will always be one of my favourites.
Nice video, as always❤
Hey! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Fresh and clean will never go out of style.
Valentino Born In Roma Coral Fantasy for me. 30+ bottles and that’s the only scent i’ve had to repurchase. Super versatile and such a unique but easily wearable scent
Great choice! Valentino make some great fragrances.
In my head aqua di gio is my signature scent. It’s what got me into fragrance and I’ve probably worn it more than anything else.
My friends and family would absolutely say it’s Versace man eau fraiche. Any occasion, any weather, you could find me wearing this, particularly in high school.
Both excellent fragrances!
Thank you for the insightful comment. It sounds like you've found what works best for you.
I have to many fragrances to choose one specific one as my signature.😅
My first signature was Lacoste Red.
Great choice!
great video as always! agree in every way
Thank you for the support Aidan :)
Great choices!
That's fair enough! It's just a scent at the end of the day. None of it *really* matters.
Another great video. Tom Ford Nior Extreme is my favorite fall and winter fragrance and I’m starting to run low and was wondering if you had any experience with the Parfum version? Thanks
Thanks! The Parfum smells like if you sprayed the EDP into an old ash tray. I didn't like it at all and believe the EDP is superior.
Awesome content Alex. Thank you.
Thanks for the support!
No problem at all - it's fun to think about these things.
I used to be associated with Eau Sauvage when I was young. Well...now I want my friends to recognize my scent with Dior Homme Intense and Naxos.
All 3 are fantastic fragrances. Great taste.
I noticed that fresh perfumes are usually suitable for signature scent than any other like explorer or luna rossa
I think so too. Fresh scents work equally well no matter the season.
Smelling nice (always) is your signature ;)
My signature is the original Chanel Allure Homme. I don't even care that it's been reformulated, I never knew the original formulation anyway. I just love how it's subtly sweet, subtly warm, just a hint of spice, slightly fruity. It's relaxed and I'm a chill dude.
Nothing wrong with that! Great fragrance
I’ve had Chanel Eau sport extreme as my scent for years, then BDC parfum, these days I’m using Givenchy gentlemen society and Boisee a lot.
Great choices. Boisee is pretty nice!
One of the shalimar flankers would be my signature, but it was a short term release. I feel reluctant to say it’s my signature when I know it will run out! I do hope they bring it back.
I wish they would just keep great fragrances on the market.
I have around 30 frags and prada lhomme intense edp is the one i cant stop using and im about to think that is my signature sent. Ive even where it if im just at home all day.
That's a fantastic signature!
Great choice. It's always tricky to choose one, especially with 60 fragrances.
a signature scent is a scent that works really well on your skin regarding the concentration, a fragance that you likely use everyday, any occasion
I am now more in a seasonal degree phase:
35°C+: nothing
30-35°C: Individuel, Virgin Island Water
20-30°C: Aventus Cologne, Aventus
10-20°C: Silver Mt. Water, Reflection Man
0-10°C: Ganymede, Red Tobacco
-X°C: Interlude + Interlude 53
Special events warm: Torino 21
Special events cold: Tobacolor
Fantastic taste. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Definitely fun to know that at least to him, there is a scent that he associated me with 👍
That's interesting! I hadn't considered that pets have olfactive memory as well.
does GIT work in all seasons too? I feel like it can be, but your opinion?
Guerlain's fragrances are like nothing else. They're amazing
what do you think about gris dior?
I'm yet to try it :)
Sir, if u have to choose only one perfume from your whole collection for the rest of ur life then what it'll be?
I'll make a video on this!
Sir, do you like jpg le male le parfum?
I don't like any JPG
Noir Extreme EDP is a masterpiece. Have you tried the parfum? I really wish Costa Azzura was stronger and it would probably be my new spring/summer go to.
It's fantastic!
As for the parfum, it smells like if you sprayed the EDP into an old dirty ashtray. I really dislike it.
Costa Azzura is pretty long-lasting in my experience. Maybe just different batches?
Noir extreme EDP is amazing but the performance has become horrendous… such a pity :(
@ Maybe. I just sprayed on some from my local Sephora and it only lasted 2-3 hours for me.
@@benb5916 Mine lasts in my bubble for about 6 hours but projection is bad.
I’ve always wanted a signature fragrance but sadly I can’t wear the same fragrance for more than a couple of days…if I did it would probably be something by Dior or Guerlain
Any particular reason, or just get bored of the same scent?
@ I have about 70 frags and try and rotate them. If I could start again I would only have four!
my first bottle of cool water was in 2001 i was 19 it was amazing back then now it's lower quality sadly still smells nice but lost it's depth
I agree. It's not the same any more, but is fun for a bit of nostalgia.
A good signature scent is the one when people smell it they want your signature.
Hahaha
Parfums de marly Layton for me.
Nice!
Choosing a signature scent is too hard lol
Haha it can be difficult. The more you have, the harder it becomes.
Prada l’homme is my favorite ever, but it lasts max 3 hours on my skin😓. Not lying I sprayed and smelled the exact spot every hour, it was gone by 3 hours
Have you tried a few sprays on your clothing?
@ I haven’t because I’m afraid of staining
@Jhart44 I get that. Prada L'Homme is essentially clear though, so you should be fine. I spray it on my clothes and haven't had any issues. Just spray from a little further away so it's not all concentrated in one area.
@@hey.alexedwards I’ll try it with something I don’t care about haha
Fragrance performance is really weird. Most fragrances fade pretty quickly on me, but prada l'homme goes absolutely nuclear. More than 3 sprays would probably make the sprinklers go off and bring in the fire department, I'm so confused😂
Having had 450 plus fragrances signature scent is impossible 😂😂😂
Haha I can imagine!
Sorry for the incoming semi-dramatic longpost :P
I have a different position in regards to what a signature scent is.
Fantastic comment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. This was really enjoyable to read and you make some fantastic points.
I can imagine it would be quite warm, and probably humid over there!
