I think good frame with bad parts would be better. Wheels,bars and bottom bracket always seem to be the worst things on these walmart bmx bikes, other than that there not awful.
You can do that to the front wheel only because on Walmart bikes the dropouts for the rear wheel are too small so a normal bmx wheel would not fit. You could take an angle grinder and make the drop outs bigger Though I’ve done it before
That is an incredible idea because every time a watch a video like this it takes one jump and the wheels are smashed and you don’t got to see what the quality of the frame cranks and pedals are.
48 spoke was standard back in the day, I used to run an Alex triple wall with 12ga spokes and a profile hub, 36/13 gearing with a 3/16 chain, for a back rim, heavy as fuck but completely indestructible
as far as walmart bikes go the hyper bikes are not bad for beginner and intermediate riders, or even casual riders who are smaller framed guys, but most walmart bikes suck when it comes to serious riding, hyper bikes though are pretty decent if you are a smaller framed guy on a budget and if set up properly and adjusted right will serve the purpose
It would be cheaper and better in the long run to get a BMX bike around $300-$400... you will run into the issue of these Walmart bikes using weird sizes and components that don’t work with modern nice after market BMX parts
You all should try putting on good parts onto one of those cheap Walmart bikes and see how much the frame can take before it breaks with the good parts

Actually believe it or not I dropped 10 ft onto one of those straight laced front wheels but it was a 2001 mongoose which had a threadless integrated headset and a 3 piece crank with a mid BB for it's time it was top of the line but those straight laced wheels can be pretty fucking good if laced right

I A Walmart Bmx when I was 11 still in good condition I am 13 and still ride mine with no trouble and I only got it for cruising
