I mean, that in and of itself isn't a huge indictment of his character. The Red Gate was unexpected, and he wasn't prepared to deal with that pressure. Also, none of that justifies what Jin-woo does to him.

U could say Jin provoked him by leaving that blade there ( a weapon to atk with ) but he decided to attack him. He encounters dark elvs and is not strong enough to take them on and after finding out sung jinwoo can kill them but he can not he tries to accuse jinwoo of being a false ranker and kill him but ends up dying and becoming an udead under jinwoo's command.

He is not good a person he is arrogant and cowardly and straight up abandoned lower ranker because though they would get in the way and when he saw the lower ranker were surviving in the red gate while he struggled survive and even ran away from the and looking excuse for his failure did to take his aggression out on the lower ranks and even tried attack Jinwoo in the mind of the battle.
That's Jin-woo's self-justification for mudering him and then enslaving him. Kim Chul is a bit of a blowhard, but he did genuinely think he needed to carry the Red Gate for the lower rankers. Once shit went south, he started to spiral, and then Jin-woo basically manipulated him into attempted murder just so Jin-woo could murder him.
What Jin-woo did to Kim Chul crossed the line big time. I know the author tried to use his breakdown and attempted murder of Jin-woo to justify it, but it really doesn't work. Killing someone, raising them from the dead, and then taking away their name is beyond disgusting, and it's telling that the manhwa tries to justify this.

@@SomeDudeGamin As I said, he couldn't handle the pressure of suddenly being trapped in a Red Gate, so he thought the best way to deal with it quickly was to take all the A and B rank members to take down the boss while leaving the lower ranks near the entrance? Was it smart? No. Was it incredibly callous? Yes. Was Kim Chul an insecure glory hound? Absolutely. Still, from his POV, I do understand his thought process, especially since he didn't know how strong Jin-woo actually was yet. Additionally, all of his worst qualities only came out after his plan to charge for the boss failed miserably, and he was the only survivor, so I don't view that as indicative of who he is in most cases.
