Why is Boba Fett Different? On top of that, why is Boba Fett so popular? From the beginning, it was clear he was a different kind of character. Even when compared to other characters with similar screen time and number of lines, Boba Fett still stands out. The Book of Boba Fett will finally shed some light on as to why, with those who have hated him, and thrill the fans who have loved him. But why is he different and popular right now? Let's take a look at the character of Boba Fett!

Boba Fett is cool because he was mysterious, menacing, and wore badass armor. He truly was “Mr. Action man” always ready for anything. Personally, I think the way he fell in the pit made him more interesting because for a long time many people didn’t know if he survived or not. That kept me intrigued.
I agree with all of this! He’s my favorite character because of his mysterious nature.
@Zen Such an awesome comment and you are so right!
@@LaraA55 Thanks
To me while he does have inconsistent characterization(not even the writers seem to agree on what kind of person Boba is let alone fans) I say at his core Boba Fett isn’t good or evil.
He’s just a simple man making his way in the galaxy like his father before him.
I agree. That’s why I try to make my own fan fictions that stay consistent to his original character. Or..what I perceive as his original character.
I think boba Fett is so popular because of his armor it’s iconic! He has as temeura saids “He has all those gears, equipment, and my good looks!” 😂
I can agree with that. For me, I like his story and demeanor as well.
@@StarWarsFanatic also true!
What i love about Boba fett is his personality ruthless Bounty hunter with Epic Voice cool weapons Relationship with other Bounty Hunter he is great character
@Diyar Meran That is so right!
@@pixelgrievous8137 Yup ruthless
In Empire, Boba was able to talk back to Vader, Lando was not able to talk back. Vader did not have to compensate Boba if Han Solo were to die. But out of Vaders respect for Boba he will pay boba is Solo dies. Vader kept altering the deal with Lando, and told him in a threatening manner, "Perhaps you think you're being treated unfairly?" Then boba is like "what if he dies, he is worth alot to me?" Vader could have been like. Well thats too bad, I only need you to find him.
I had planned on making a video about this exact set of interactions. Not only was Vader going to pay Boba for his end of the deal but had Solo died, he was going to pay home for Jabba the Hutt’s part of it as well.
@@StarWarsFanatic Exactly! I also think that it was Boba Fett that killed Lukes Aunt and Uncle, they kinda looked disintegrated. Boba is my favorite character, kinda tied with Darth. I remember after watching ROTJ in the theater, im 45 yrs, I would argue that Boba survived the pit. And back then I knew nothing of what happened in books.
Really cool point wow 😳👍🏼
Exactly!
@@StarWarsFanatic You should do a video about this and I wonder if Vader/Anakin respected Boba...because Vader/Anakin knew him from the past?
We like it because he looks cool. It's also why we like Darth Vader, Batman, and all the other major pop culture successes. They have an awesome look I can't think of one pop culture hero or villain that people love that doesn't look awesome.
This is most likely true. I think fans become more drawn to him with more content that comes out.
batman? ehhhh dont compare him to Darth Vader dude, batman is fkn lame lol
@Lee Bjorkman Yes his coolness is appealing!
I think for me its the fact that Vader directly adresses Boba when he says "No Disintigrations" ......yes it could be a over arching statement, but when i was young it made me think that Vader and Boba have encountered each other before somehow or that he has a reputation
And in the comics it shows Vader had used Boba at least one other time…to find out who the boy was who destroyed the Dearh Star.
Thanks for releasing such a good video on my birthday.
You’re welcome and happy birthday! May you get everything you deserve!
@@StarWarsFanatic Thanks
Happy Birthday Knut!! May your life be filled with everlasting plot armor 👍🏼
@@illevarslendetyrann Thanks i hope so too
What do you think? Why is Boba Fett different? Why is Boba Fett popular? Do you like him? Hate him? Indifferent? Let me know, it will be fun to talk about.
Less interested in him than the party he represents: gangsters and mandos
I remember when I was very young and Bobas look was so misterious that it blew my mind. I tried to find any picture of him but it was so hard as there was no internet... I had to paint him from memory and it added even more mistery....
@@borkel-artproproductions5839 I felt the same. I would buy any magazine I could that even had the smallest picture of Biba Fett.
@@StarWarsFanatic this is the way
@@borkel-artproproductions5839 Yes. the mystery factor!
I love Boba Fett for his looks, his lines, and also because if not for Boba we wouldn't have the awesome show the mandalorian is, if not for Boba we wouldn't have the Ashoka episode, the Luke came and all of that, so long live Boba!!
Btw I've just got the deluxe black series of boba Fett it's so beautiful!
I agree with all this. I have that figure staged above my sarlacc pit from Hot Toys. Such a great addition! Thank you!
Why i liked Boba Fett growing up as a kid when i 1st watch star wars on VHS. He looked cool, had a jetpack and so on and gave off this elite warrior vibe.
Thank you for that! It was something I had considered putting into this video. But I had made a video months back about that very thing. The video is probably old and outdated now lol.
@@StarWarsFanatic i would also say the soundtrack they used for his scenes also gave off a bad ass vibe to him as well. And also being a man of few words also made him more intriguing. And when he did speak it was to the point on what was asked or going on.
@Exactly...that jetpack and being an astonishing warrior!
Correction: On screen, Zam Wesell failed to assassinate a senator. Jango used her as a proxy, a job given to a friend trying to catch a break. Now, here is Jango's success rate: he was hired as a clone template for the grand army of the Republic and they executed their purpose successfully 😎👍🏼 The entire order of the Jedi extinct, and a newly formed empire built on the backs of his army. A legacy unmatched by any in the entire history of Star Wars.
Legacy yes, and all he had to do was donate blood. Lol.
@@StarWarsFanatic Blood meant to be Mandalor! Jango, Spar, Boba 😎
But you’d think a high profile gig, paid by one of only two Sith Lords in existence wouldn’t be put into the hands of someone trying to catch a break.
I’m not disagreeing, Javier. I’m making jokes. I’ve had a couple drinks ;)
@@StarWarsFanatic Jango has a soft spot for Zam, what can I say? Haha he probably under estimated the job and thought Zam could do it. Just think about it, throughout the entire chase scene where Zam was being chased, up until that point where she was about to spill out who hired her, he managed to go undetected and assassinate her in turn. That's pretty badass, I think? He under estimated the job and he under estimated Obi Wan's resolve.
Don’t forget that Boba Fett was introduced in the animation segment in the “Star Wars Holiday Special” before “The Empire Strikes Back”. (I animated him.)
That was the first time he caught my attention. It was the live action that solidified his being my favorite character. Great job! He was the best part of the 1978 Holiday Special.
Jango fett was a warrior first and a bounty hunter second, but boba was a bounty hunter first and warrior second.
He has to find his Mandalorian warrior instincts and I think that will come very quickly.
@@StarWarsFanatic i think so too
@@StarWarsFanatic It will come to him...he learned that from his Father!
I didn't see it that way!
I think Boba Fett stood out as an iconic figure because he is the only character allied with Vader that ever questions him without retrobution. He, in a threatening way, states to Vader, "He is worth a lot to me." To which Vader response, "The Empire will compensate you should he die." Instead of force choking him.
Boba’s debut was in a new hope
If you were born in the 90’s, this is true. If you were born in the 70’s…it was the Empire strikes back or the holiday special.
@@StarWarsFanatic bro I was born in 2008
@@as-2248 so yeah, you weren’t around for the original unspecialized releases…before Boba was added to A New Hope.
@@as-2248 boba's debut was in the holiday special. Then the empire strikes back and in the 90s George put boba into one of the special editions of a new hope
Disney plus should give an option to watch OT without extra special effects
👍🏻Boba is so cool looking and mysterious back then. And Darth Vader talked to him; never tried the force choke on him.:)
Darth Bader even empathized with Boba a bit.
Good vid , good points of detail , ive always loved boba , and even more now with mando stuff , but only reason we have mandolorisns, n jango is because of Boba, imo
Thank you! You’re right. If not for Boba, we would have none of that culture. I can’t wait for the book of Boba Fett!
@Jd 22 That is so right...didn't think of that!!!
Simple. He talks to Vader like they're equals, and Vader lets him.
Vader only does that with people who are more powerful than him, or who have earned his respect by being good at what they do.
This is the Way!!!!!
The only way!!!!!
legit i feel like its not actually Boba who everyone likes, its more of the concept of Mandalorians, of which he was the first to appear on screen and he has a pretty good color scheme
Well, in the 80’s, there were no Mandalorians…only Boba.
@@StarWarsFanatic true true, hence him getting popular early
Excellent editing and soundtrack, great video man. Keep up the great work

@Star Wars Fanatic I really enjoyed this video and my eyes were glued to the screen. I didn't know that he and Maul had similar short screen time and dialogues...something new I learned. And also how Boba compares visually and in his track record as a Bounty Hunter compared to his father Jango...that I didn't know. And you are right, his visual appeal does stand the test of time. And why I like him? His mystery, his confidence, his abilities as a bounty hunter and how he wasn't scared to stand up to Vader...that really stood out to me.
Thank you! Wait til you see my Vader video I’m doing.
@@StarWarsFanatic Cannot wait to watch it
Because Boba Fett is epic
This is the only sense I will accept that word! You are correct!
@@StarWarsFanatic thanks i love the video
I just made a book of Boba Fett trailer
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
No worries
Well, guess my comment here is a bit unneccesary - as you very well know how I feel about Boba. Though I have to admit that I just can't separate movies and other material completely. Maybe I love him so much because he seems to mostly not give a da** sh** (over the years, I did that with many aspects of my personal life, too - not to care what others think). Thanks to RUclips and mostly your channel, I learnt a lot about him and started to see him as multi-faceted character. And character growth, which is really important IMO.
I appreciate the kind words. Boba is now multi faceted. When he first showed it, it was mostly his armor and demeanor.
@Sandra Archer Yes he doesn't give a poop and he does what he needs to do...and we are going to learn more about him. I cannot wait to see more air time character growth for him
Holy cow! this is really good. My only advice is talk a little slower. But this is like bombastic level. great job 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you! I really appreciate that! I will use that feedback.
Well I've always loved the look of boba Fett I've always found the character kind of cliche. Once they started revealing his personality to us it was about what we all figured it would be kind of a Clint Eastwood type. With the upcoming book of boba Fett I'm more excited about this character than ever before. I think we're going to finally see him out of a standard roll of bounty hunter badass into a whole new realm of badass. I think we'll finally get to see some real personality come out of his character. They may have revealed some and the clone wars animation but I don't watch that and also he was just a kid so I don't know how much of it you can count that.
I like this assessment. I can see how he’d be cliche. That character type has been done a lot. But as they say, there isn’t a story that hasn’t been written…only modified.
@Lee Bjorkman You are right, his character was seen as one dimensional and with the upcoming series there will be more than meets the eye, with a lot of character development...the other sides to Boba that we didn't know about
@@StarWarsFanatic Exactly
I just don't understand the popularity to me Boba is a living aberration for starters he is not a Mandalorian therefore that armor that he wears is not his no matter how people and Boba himself claims is not and other thing that bothers me is that he is not a son of Jango just for being a clone since there is no mother involved the guy didn't have a choice of becoming something else Jango didn't train a son he trained a replacement of his if they want him to be his son it shouldn't be a clone a clone of yourself is not your son/daughter not even brother/sister since they were not born on the same day I even avoid call him with a last name such as Fett since clones pretty much don't have one except for that clone desertor that married a Twi'lek but anyways I think it should be better written maybe in a What if series or even a reboot
While technically your thoughts seem like they have merit, I'll explain it as simply as I can. Even in our own world, there are fathers who aren't very loving to their children. Bringing them up as something more like what they are. Look at the case of the Chundawat family, for an example. Second, Boba Fett calls Jango father, Jango calls Boba son. And saying Boba shouldn't be a Fett or a Mandalorian because of his birth/creation is like saying an adoptive child in our world shouldn't call those people his family...they weren't born of them. That also means they have no rights of being in that family's will. In that case we can go back and Say Din Djarin isn't a Mandalorian.
TL;DR bc he is awesome
That he is!
He is neither Jedi nor Sith...he is not Empire nor Alliance... in a world filled with RIDICULOUS false dichotomy, Boba Fett clearly exists as "other"...
Agreed!
