I work for an airline, and I am a pilot myself, whenever new pilots are online, expect some hard landings as the get used to the plane. Check them in a few months, smooth like butter. Whats IMPORTANT is to get in down on the centre line and withing the landing zone on the runway. Greasers are nice but not priority and doesnt indicate a good or bad pilot

I fly a lot for work including on some larger planes like the A321, 767, and one time an A340, and ive NEVER heard anyting like this. This to me ALMOST sounds like a tailstrike and the sound is the striker hitting the ground. Its hard to tell if he is flaring that much from this fisheye type lens on the tail camera.
I just flew back and forth to DC on the A380 from Paris on Air France. Both landings were EXACTLY like this. A short cruise around the internet can literally find dozens of videos and written accounts of teeth jarring landings on the A380. Seems to be common.
Emirates is one of the best airlines you can choose! I think the cause of this hard landing was the novelty of this plane, the pilots still need to get into the habit of landing with this "monster". (The female voice in the video is mine)
@luigidude44 Us too... Since that memorable flight we flew with Emirates A380 two times on th same route, the landings were very smooth. Yes, the pilots finally how to land correctly :)
@90scoolll I'm really sure you would (note the sarcasim). Have you heard of short landing tecniques? I'm sure the pilots have about 10,000 times the flight experiance you have.
Holy fuck man, that was hard as hell. I would've shit myself on that flight. I guess a sound like that is to be expected when dealing with an aircraft that has a maximum takeoff weight over 1 million pounds.
@leathermodelcuir I was on that plane, trust me, it was frightening... and for the rest of the passengers, too. Flight attendant's faces were white, but after 1,5 years I think it was a great adventure :)

@ProfessionalAirCorps it doesn't weigh 600t on landing. the MTW is about 560t, the MLW is about 386t. and this aircraft is designed to land as smooth as every other airplane. in this case size doesn't matter. Not for nothing does the A380 has a MLG consisting of 20 wheels
Everybody please calm down, dad was the captain of that flight and he was flying with a rookie F.O and he let the F.O land cause his wife and kids were aboard, so it WAS a learner pilot. Just to make things Clear

The air stewards all looked a little shaken afterwards and technicians were looking at the main landing gear as we disembarked... I think whatever language they are talking in, they are exclaiming loudly about the very hard landing. If you look... there are quite a few "A380 hard landing" videos on RUclips. Clearly this bird drops like a rock compared to the incredible A330's floating landing. Of coarse floating should not be something you should see a lot of, but for passenger comfort it is supreme...
This sort of thing can't be good for the plane. And there sure are various different other videos showing these soft CRASH landings. I reckon that Airbus has got some homework to do.

well. airbus can't do anything if pilots decide to go for a hard landing.. it was also a short landing... i think those pilots were damn care about the aircraft's longevity

The 380 fell for a few feet. I don't think it was a totally controlled landing at all.
What more concerning is that the Upper deck passengers are on the lower deck and the Lower deck Passengers are now able to check their Hold Baggage!
