    This is the first of a three part series discussing the broad categories of MRI pulse sequences. We start to day by looking at spin echo sequences before moving on to gradient echo and inversion recovery sequences.
    Here we will discuss how a spin echo is created. Then we will review multiecho, multislice and fast echo sequences.

    Not sure if the question banks are for you?
    If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
    The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
    Happy studying,
    Michael

    Question: Do you mean the signal by T2* for that signal loss due Inhomogeneties or you mean the regaining till TE? 11:39 : "signal what we've done here is accounted for those local magnetic field in homogeneities and the loss of signal at this time period is generally only due to spin spin interactions or molecules that have moved within the tissue during this period of time and have experienced a slightly different magnetic field strength"

    Amazing work! Looking forward to future videos. I wonder if you could sprinkle in a few practical estimates/limits when you're covering these concepts. For example, what's the fastest rate we can sample the signal given current scanners? What gradients are MR scanners capable of generating? What's a ballpark TR/TE/TA for different types of sequences?
    ... Also, I think it would be super helpful, once you've done your main video series of course, to go through some sample protocol pdfs and show how they are organized, what choices were made for the sequences, and comment on why those choices might have been made.

    • @radiologytutorials

      These are all great suggestions. I'm thinking of sitting down with an experienced MRI tech after this series and diving deep in to the practicalities of MRI scanning (ie. how we can apply these physics principles). Plan to cover machine settings, parameter selection and patient factors. Would this be something you'd find helpful?\

    Hi! I have a doubt, the opposite gradient that we apply before the FEG to bring the H atoms in phase at TE is only applied during the gradient echo sequence or also during the spin echo sequence? In the spin echo sequence is the 180 pulse enough to rephrase the spins at TE or we also need to apply the opposite gradient before the frequency encoding gradient?

    • @radiologytutorials
      @radiologytutorials  9 месяцев назад

      Hi. Great question. The dephasing frequency gradient is also applied in spin echo sequences. Often in the same direction as the FEG because it’s generally before the 180 RF pulse 🙂
