But let it be known God has it on my heart to share that the spiritual utterance of speaking in tongues (1 Cor. 14:2) is for your own personal edification with God and not for the body of Christ unless there is an interpreter (1 Cor. 14:27-28). Paul says that the one who speaks in a tongue in 1 Cor. 14:2 “For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.” Would this not mean then that tongues in utterance is a form of prayer for one’s self between them and God? This next scripture can help understand when we use tongues “To God” and for “Prophecy” in (1 Cor. 14:27-28) 27. If anyone speaks in a tongue, two-or at the most three-should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God. Also, let’s touch on 1 Cor. 14:4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue (referring to the utterance that no one understands) edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. The key word being edifies themselves and therefore why should this be spoken out loud or heard by others around without it being translated especially during worship service when there is Love shown to others around you, when confusion is cast out. #GodisGood #Love #Peace But let's not mislead people, and understand when tongues is referring to a body part, a native language, or utterance in the spirit.
