True Babbitt does not contain any lead. The base metal is Tin and the doping metals are copper, Nickel, Antimony, etc. Lead is considered a contaminant in Babbitt and trace amounts will make that expensive mix into fishing weights fast.

Thanks for the info, we buy our Babbitt from a reputable US based company. Since we are not chemist we prefer to leave that to the experts.
