I always love hidden meanings, and Stephen Schwartz certainly did a fantastic job at weaving in hidden references to the themes of the story, which you might not notice on a first listen.
If you listen to the song “Sentimental Man” you need to pay attention to what the wizard is singing as that’s a dead giveaway to the parentage of Elphaba’s biological father. 👂 👀
Part of why I think that reference to the catfight exists in part 1 is because I expect that’ll be one of the scenes that gets the MOST revamped in part 2. It works on stage but it is so stagey in terms of cadence with call and response for audience laughter in what is actually a very serious plot beat. I suspect we’ll get a heavily modified version and so this homage to the cat fight choreography is left in here because it may not be there in part 2
I've seen the movie now twice and I want to keep seeing it because it is brilliant in my opinion. But every new time I listen or watch, I catch even more hidden things or easter eggs or foreshadowing. It does such a great job at putting those little hints in there that you don't catch at first until you listen or watch multiple times. Like Elphaba's line in "The Wizard and I" about being so happy she'd melt or the "get stuffed" comment to Fiero when she first meets him.
I don’t know if you mentioned this already but during the train scene you can hear a little bit of Thank Goodness as Galinda changes her name. I caught that immediately the first time I watched it
No. Even in the 1939 MGM film, where he claimed to be from Kansas, his getaway balloon read "Ohama" (as in, the County Fair in Ohama, Nebraska; Thankfully, Nebraska is just above Kansas gepgrahically speaking).

The level of intricacy and complexity woven into the lyrics and music is unparalleled!
I heard that Wicked (Sing Along version) will release this Christmas.
This movie is becoming wickedly popular indeed can’t wait to see it
One line that had me perking up like a meerkat, was when Elphaba met Fiyero for the first time and told him "Get stuffed" 0v0
The clever detail of transitioning from "Who rang that bell?" into "Subscribe and ring the bell!"

I love that scene. I hope they keep it or if they change it do something that takes after it

7:23 love how the two extra students lean and look back with Elphaba
Also for me that part on Wizard and I , where she says something about ''when they see me they will scream'.. yah... but not in the way she wanted
Happy tuesday afternoon, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
not me hearing "Omaha" as a rendition of the sacred six-syllable chant of Buddhism: *aum mani padme hum*
