- Here's to you a traditional XIX - XX century Roman Folding Knife called "Serratore" or "A tre scrocchi" (Three crack sounds) due to its peculiar locking system. It was historically made of carbon steel and buffalo or bull horn handle, sometimes richly decorated.
This one features a K 720 carbon steel blade and buffalo horn handle.
DISCLAIMER: I make my knives as a form of art and following the italian laws, not to be used to cause harm or damage. I recommend to inform yourself about your local laws about knives and to behave responsibly.

Thanks to all of you guys for all the good words. Many of you are asking where to get the template.
The answer is nowhere I'm afraid... I draw my knives by hand with black ink on paper and make a couple of copies to be glued on plywood and figure the pivot point and the general look. I don't have pdf or any file of them. And to be honest, when I transfer the design on steel it has to be adjusted everytime, because the template has the purpose to give me a general idea, not to be perfectly functional. All the fine details and the locking system are created by constant measuring and fine tuning for hours. Just like the original antique knives that inspired this one, you won't find one similar to another, every knife is unique.
I create my knives to be uniques and have personality, so I don't use templates to reach a standard.
But the good news is that you can make your own design, invest your time in studying and researching the way you want it to be made and have fun creating something that comes from your research, the satisfaction will be priceless.

Thanks mate! You're correct, this type of knife resembles a lot Navajas. The shape and the locking system are basically the same. Navajas tend to be generally more decorated and engraved while roman knives are a bit simpler

What’s the handle material ?
It's buffalo horn. This kind of knives were traditionally made of buffalo or bull horn, sometimes boxwood or brass were used too.

I'm afraid nowhere since I draw my own plans by pencil and ink, glue them on plywood and try the locking untill it works. I tend not to transfer my plans on pdf because I want every knife I make to be unique

@@josebaimanolsancheztorre1455 the spring is made of C 70 carbon steel, it's basically an analogue of 1070. The important thing is to quench it in oil and temper it until becomes blue/purple to give it flexibility
Ciao sono una ragazza di Roma, vorrei un coltello stile romano come quello nel video, ma a scatto; fatto a mano con manico in osso (esattamente uguale a quello nel video, ma magari in osso di montone chiaro, non nero ...come una resolza stile sardo, capisci? Mi piacciono i colori e le sfumature naturali del corno di montone) e lama di lunghezza minima 15cm, sottile, leggermente più sottile di quello nel video, diciamo un 5/8mm in meno, che termini con punta finale (una lama in acciaio DI BUONA QUALITÀ che io possa ripetutamente affilare con pietre ad acqua senza che l'affilatura mi si mangi la lama in meno di due anni -devo usarlo anche per incidere su legno, tra le altre cose, e non lavoro sempre legni teneri, quindi ho bisogno che la punta sia estremamente resistente -e probabilm. in futuro, se mi troverò bene col primo, me ne servirà un'altro a punta quadrata, stile scalpello, con affilatura sia su punta che su lato e di lunghezza minima 10cm); visto che un coltello del genere richiede almeno una decina di ore di lavorazione, se non 20, e materiali di pregio, immagino che il prezzo non sia basso, vorrei sapere se anche tu sei a Roma, se puoi darmi dei contatti e un'idea indicativa del prezzo (sempre se sei in grado di realizzarlo a scatto, non so neppure se è legale sinceramente, ma finché lo tengo in casa posso comprarmi anche un bazooka, a quanto mi consta ...e comunque vorrei proprio vedere se esiste un poliziotto italiano tanto demente da arrestare uno scricciolo di 45kg come me, che abita in un quartiere pericoloso come il mio ed è stata aggredita e rapinata già tre volte, per aver osato portarsi un coltello a scatto per autodifesa in modo da non finire di nuovo in ospedale, e soprattutto non farsi fottere un'altra bici elettrica da 2000€ da una coppia di scippatori marocchini alti e grossi il doppio di me; onestamente mi sono rotta le p**** e il taser costa più di 600€, preferisco spendere meno e comprarmi un coltello, che almeno so maneggiare bene e so dove non colpire, piuttosto che spendere una cifra esorbitante per comprare un taser che non ho mai usato e che magari poi mi fa finire in carcere sul serio, se mi capita uno scippatore cardiopatico o strafatto di coca che gli si ferma il cuore per via della scossa). Mi spiace ma non realizzo coltelli a scatto e per usi di questo tipo. Per l'intaglio del legno opterei per un buon set di scalpelli e attrezzi specifici
