For anyone calling it a cash grab, this prequel still connects to Stephen King’s original novel. It’s not some random spin-off like some clueless casuals seem to think it is.
How could it tie into the book? In the book IT went on his rampage from 1957-1958 when the losers club pushed IT back into hibernation. IT did not come back out until the mid 80’s. This clearly is meant to tie into the newer movies
@javeydones5163 He went after lots of other kids in that cycle and terrorized the town successfully. Welcome to Derry is showing those other attacks, which is why it fits perfectly with King’s original story.
@javeydones5163 Because this is still based on the book. Some people seem to think that this prequel is some newly written cashgrab, which is not true. The events of this prequel series are all adapted from the book.

Yeah it definitely doesn’t look good. Will Hanlon is also the only one of the kids we know survives this cycle (although he dies later on before the events of the first movie), so it’s very likely we’re going to see more of these kids becoming victims than getting away from Pennywise like the Losers did…

"This is Derry." Those words sound like the town is sentient and wants to kill its inhabitants, and Pennywise is nothing more than a personification of the town's soul or something. I know it contradicts the lore, but I really like the idea.

@Tehlikelibirherif234 I can tell you that Bill Skarsgard is the most expensive thing in this show and he wont be in it for more than a couple of minutes. Having him in every episode whould make it cost millions per episode.

I hope the military, in all three seasons, remains a persistent but ineffectual adversary to Pennywise. I say this because it drives home how hopeless conventional warfare is against the entity. All our firepower and technology, and Pennywise absolutely runs rings around it.
If full-armed hordes of adults in a disciplined hierarchy cannot defeat Pennywise, what chance do a bunch of losers have?
It's almost confusing cause how come this house is presumably where a mass murder of military takes place but then 27 years later Richie describes it as a place where "all the junkies and hobos sleep" not the place where "an entire military unit was slaughtered" so I can't wait to see how they wrote this story.
@Drewhalloran3 It's possible the military covered up the sheer scope of the disaster, rewriting history and slapping "Classified" all over the incident.

In the book it explains that IT came to Earth long before humans existed. And would prey on all kinds of lifeforms. Later humans would became its main food source because fear flavours the meat and the human imagination made for endless forms it could take. A child's imagination being the most fruitful. Pennywise eats the meat while the consciousness of the victim at its moment of absolute terror is sent to the deadlights.
@mAv64uk Yes, I read the book, which confirms it can eat other things, and afraid deer release the same stress hormones as humans.
@mr.mediocregamer9653A Deers fear is rational, as in it only fears the predators that hunt them. Human fears are more complex. They can be made from fact or fiction. Being able to communicate verbally opens up new ways for IT to raise the fear levels. IT wants you at your moment of absolute terror. Only then will he capture your consciousness for the deadlights to feed on forever. The meat is for pennywise to consume.

1. Because this it's a prequel to It (2017). The show is set in 1962 which is 27years before the events in the movie. Loosely based on the second Interlude part from the original book which is the story leading up to the fire at Black Spot Club.
2. The Loser club only killed the physical body of it on earth. The source of Pennywise the "Deadlights" did not die and continues to exist in the macroverse.

Man I hope they finally do it right. The newest films are just so terrible. They are actually pieces of trash. Everything about the films are good but the total absence of much of a story. They left out 99 percent of the story. It's so lame. The films go like this....scenes of kids getting scared, kids die and so the kids hurt what hurt them. That's the entire first film. The second is they find out they didn't kill it so they kill it. It's stupid. It is my favorite novel and they did such a disservice. Hope they do this right. Oh no. They got the same director. This is gonna suck. Damn it.
