I support the other side, so I thought I'd share my view from this side of the M62: We didn't win that game, it was United that lost it. I'm not saying that in a smug way. I think we should have had two more, and there were pretty good arguments that you should have had two other players sent off. That's just being real, not smug. Whether it was 5 or 7, that was down to the quality, but if we'd have played our kiddie team, it would have been 0-2. Why? Look at the space our deadly players were given: how many discussions are there about whether Salah is the best in the world at the moment? And he was left alone? Look at the goal where he walks past all the United defenders. How has that been allowed? Look at the weird little runs United forwards make. All the space our KEY players were allowed. The Keita goal saw Nabby in enough space to build a house. I couldn't understand it. So to me, an outsider, it looks like superstars who are all independent on that pitch. All doing their own thing, all sitting back not taking responsibility. Compare that to our defence. If we had someone covered, the midfield came back anyway. Also, we were 0-5 up, against 10 men, and look how we chased everything down. You could argue we stopped going forward with such urgency in the second half, but wouldn't you? 0-5 up against 10 men, why risk injury, why tire ourselves out? Look at the United players, they didn't seem bothered. Was Ole at fault? Yes and no. The players have such ability - you ADDED £300m this year - that's why we sing 'Oh we've got no money, but we're going to win the league' - we added 1 cheap player. Your player's ability papers over cracks. They can easily pull out moments and snatch goals. They play as individuals and this is what happens. Isn't that a manager's job? Yes. Swap them out. Put your kiddie team out if necessary. Would they have lost 0-5? And even if they did, they would have tried. I think of last year where we had one main team player available, and put out kids against Arsenal. Firstly, they didn't have the talent, but they had the shape, discipline and drive. They beat Arsenal. They played exactly the same way as our first team, just with less talent. United's first team played with no shape, drive, or effort. I genuinely think our kiddie team would have won against that side, just with a lower score. Again, I'm not saying that with smugness - I think anyone except Norwich would have won on Sunday. We got 5 because we have Salah. We easily could have got 7 if De Gea wasn't so great (again papering over cracks) and if we'd pushed, or even played our full team (our main striker Mane wasn't on until the end, Keita doesn't normally play main games, and this was Konate's third time in the main team) I truly believe 0-8 wouldn't have been flattering. I also don't think we went into the gear we play against City, Chelsea or the European big guns. As I said at the start, we didn't win that game, United lost it. For me, it's bratty superstars. Again, I'm not trying to be smug, but that was shocking, and I truly forgot that that was at Old Trafford.
United will keep trailing in quality behind Liverpool, Chelsea, and City while Ole’s still in charge. Ole’s done the best he can, now it’s time to hand it over to a proven professional with the experience needed to take this team to a positive direction. We are wasting our potential with the squad we have it is time for change.

It wasn’t entirely Maguire’s and the defence’s fault. This was years in the making starting with Ed Woodward & the board. Utd always buy big name players they don’t need from Pogba, Sanchez, Maguire, Cavani and yes even Ronaldo. What they needed for years has been a decent DM to help shield the defence. Fred, Mctominay, Van Beek, Pogba, Fernandes are all 8s or 10s. Greenwood and Rashford are natural strikers who always want to cut in and score instead of setting up Ronaldo. Ronaldo hardly presses defenders and just waits there for service that he will not receive. Ole plays a deep block & counter well enough but he tried a high press against L’pool, who are experts at the press & counter pressing. Utd had 4 sometimes even 5 players so high up the pitch but they pressed at the wrong time & L’pool easily bypassed the 2 man midfield & burnt through the defence. It was often 3v2 or 4v3 when L’pool attacked. Utd were not pressing as a team or cutting off the passing lanes. Mctominay & Fred seemed afraid of getting the ball & kept positioning themselves in areas where a team mate could not pass to them. I think Van Beek at DM might help solve some issues as his touch, passing, vision & pressing are better than Fred’s. Dropping Maguire and slotting Mctominay at CB might be another option or even recalling Tuanzebe from loan.

Fred, Mctominay, Van Beek, Pogba, Fernandes are all 8s or 10s. Greenwood and Rashford are natural strikers who always want to cut in and score instead of setting up Ronaldo. Ronaldo hardly presses defenders and just waits there for service that he will not receive.
Ole plays a deep block & counter well enough but he tried a high press against L’pool, who are experts at the press & counter pressing. Utd had 4 sometimes even 5 players so high up the pitch but they pressed at the wrong time & L’pool easily bypassed the 2 man midfield & burnt through the defence. It was often 3v2 or 4v3 when L’pool attacked. Utd were not pressing as a team or cutting off the passing lanes. Mctominay & Fred seemed afraid of getting the ball & kept positioning themselves in areas where a team mate could not pass to them.
I think Van Beek at DM might help solve some issues as his touch, passing, vision & pressing are better than Fred’s. Dropping Maguire and slotting Mctominay at CB might be another option or even recalling Tuanzebe from loan.
