I have this pen in "Medium" and it's also noticeably softer than the regular #3776. I'd compare it to something like a Custom 74, a cushioned and bouncy writing feel but definitely not flex.

I love the new nib. I also would like to see a medium. This might persuade me to pick up a new 3776.

Thanks for the review. I liked the new intro!

I’m very interested in trying one since I’m a huge fan of the, I guess now old, F platinum nibs I have.
But what caught my attention was that orange Lamy with a red clip! Good stuff

My first 3776 was also the burgundy color. Beautiful pen but not a fan of the stiffness

I’m a fan of the stiff nibs. It makes me feel like I know exactly where my line is going.

I have the standard 3776 with a soft fine nib. I wonder if it the same nib or they have improved on it.
    Good review , Mike.

Nope. It's not the same as the SF. It's not as soft as their Soft nibs have been, and it's a different shape.

I've been waiting for a review of this pen. I'm on the fence about getting one, although I'm a huge fan of the 3776 and have a bunch of them. (I don't like the soft medium nib I have nearly as much as the regular nibs.) If I get one, it will be with a medium nib, so I'll report back. I' d also love to own the original Gathered model -- when they come up for sale, they go fast!

Why don't you like the SF? I am trying to decide between the sf and the uef for my first gold nib this black friday

@@DrinkWater713 I just prefer the stiffer feel of the regular Platinum nibs. The "soft" nib, which I have only tried in medium, is a bit more bouncy -- it has some give, like a cushiony feel. (It is not a flex nib.) I don't like that bouncy feeling -- to me, it almost feels like the nib is broken. I can write with it but I don't prefer it. Not sure what the SF is like.

@@DrinkWater713 It's kind of like the shock absorbers on a car, if that makes sense.

@@marilyngardner4269 Thanks. Maybe the uef would be a safer bet then

@@marilyngardner4269 That sounds very pleasant, actually. Do you feel that it compromises precision in writing?

Well, psychologicali, everything new is better, but I think that the real Platinum lovers, after the opening cheerrnes, will conclude that older is better. But who knows... Time will tell...

Well, you're in luck because they don't seem to have used it on any other pens yet. I thought they'd be doing that, but it hasn't happened so far.

Can I have a slip and seal cap mechanism installed into a FP cap that didn't come with such a detail?
