He sooo right, what we need is power, just give us the power, and put in place the infrastructure, we'll fix the rest. Nigerians are very smart and enthusiastic people, a lot of people are soo willing, and dying to use their their potentials, but at the end of the day, on or two things are lacking which we can't fix on our own. It's so sad what our leaders are doing to us, and it pains me when I listen to ideas and brilliant analysis on how to simply solve our economic problems, knowing well at the back of my mind that the probability of manifesting such ideas is 0.0001%. We all scream God help us, but He won't unless we are ready to help ourselves. And it's quite frustrating how a bunch of half educated, clueless, dumb rogues, leading our country can overwhelm the overwhelming Nigerians. It's really sad. God help us.
Politicians don't like fixing problems. They need those problems for campaigning. Every election cycle, American politicians promise to fix the borders. They never do. They promise to reduce poverty. They never do. They promise energy independence, they never do it. Same thing occurs with Nigerian politicians. They promise better power, roads, improved healthcare, security, etc. But every four years, the same issues are being campaigned on again. People like Sanusi, Fashola, etc, should be president. These are people with vision. People who really understand the problem, and have solutions, without caring what anybody thinks of their ideas. Government does not create jobs. Government builds the infrastructure that enables people to build businesses, and ultimately create jobs.
Thank God you have seen what can come out of the Northern Nigeria.I thank God for the Dangotes and company. How many more people like Sanusi from that part of the country that are not known or heard of,while Boko Haram and their sponsors are trying to damage the image of the North, education and more education and more notherners speaking out with action.....
Very true and spot on analysis of our(Nigerian) economy with regards to youth empowerment. What Nigeria needs is Power(Electricity). once there is electricity NGO's and we Nigerians would provide every other basic amenities. this has always been my view point. correct me if i'm wrong......#thinkingAloud.
Overall a great talk. I, however, disagree with Sanosi when he says that Africans do not need training in Computer science for the growth of their economies. Building mobile phone and computer apps is one way Africans can and do earn an income directly, or indirectly via the big guys like Google, MTN, Yahoo, Microsoft, and others, through sales. Even an Aeronautic engineering diploma with some software engineering can give rise to an unmanned device to spray manure and pest control admixture on large crop fields. A case in point, many young Africans at the "Silicon Mountain" in Buea, Cameroon, are doing just that. The key is for African countries to invest in an education which encourages free thinking that, in turn, breeds innovation and creativity. As of now, education has either been for the sake of it or barely tailored to insert the youth into an already tight, albeit a very versatile, job market. The current job market, as it is, can neither permit specialty execution nor absorb high specialty talents, notwithstanding the commanding presence of the felt need expressed therein. The creative specialty minds will take cue from the existing lacunae and slot them in by creating burgeoning, and eventually vibrant, business sectors.
Sanusi is being realistic and practical in this presentation. His is truly one of the great minds on the continent which has a dearth of leadership.
Sanusi has really made an impressive speech and indeed we are very proud to have a great man as him who is bold and had courage to say the truth.
10 years on. 2023. Points still valid.

I sincerely agree with you
We need and want electricity in Nigeria
He really should be giving lectures around Nigeria.
But he is currently an emir, which means it's highly unlikely.
Surely
