    • @McFarkle
      @McFarkle Месяц назад +7

Weigman has obviously not improved, and potentially even regressed from his first couple years here. Reed was by far the better QB Saturday, which is not something I have brought myself to admitting yet.
However, I don’t think the lack of performance while Conner was in was all on him. The pass protection was the worst it’s been all year, our receivers had a hard time getting open, and there were at least three drops on ball that hit guys directly in the hands. To me, the reason Conner was pulled wasn’t fully on him, but just in the overall ineptitude of the passing offense. Reed’s running ability brought unpredictably to our running game, which completely destroyed LSU’s defense. Couple that with our defense showing up better to give their defense less time to recover and the game was blown wide open.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Conner starts again, with Elko keeping him on short leash again. Having a QB throw only 2 times in 23 minutes of play doesn’t tell me they have a lot of confidence in his arm, but Reed’s mobility absolutely won us the game. I still think Conner has the more reliable arm, but if our passing game isn’t going anywhere, I love hanging the option to go to Reed.

Coaching clinic - Amen. You did not really speak about the half-time adjustments Elko made on defense. First half, LSU offense was dominating our offense, but third quarter we shut them down. And fourth quarter we held them to one touchdown (no extra point). A&M coaching staff are geniuses at midgame adjustments, especially at defense, which computes with Elko's strengths.
Also "The trophy case is barren not because there is a magical poison that exists in the well water"... actually, as someone who is on the ground in College Station, I think there is a poison in the well water that is killing our coaches. We bring in great coaches, and as soon as they start doing well, they start getting put on pedestals and pulled into all kinds of functions, radio shows, talking at this club or that, making commercials for A&M, etc. A coach in college football, to be truly elite, has to live and breathe their team and their team's game and college football, every waking hour. But in College Station, as soon as they have a bit of success under their belt, we distract them from that. Please talk to Elko and tell him not to let that happen to himself.

As a Texas fan I'd be scared of this Aggie team. Vandy may be good, however they are not a playoff team. If Texas doesn't get the O-line fixed by then Texas is screwed. Ewers will be picking grass out of his teeth for weeks. Right after they get the o-line figured out they need to fix their run game. Ewers can sling it if he has a bit of time but Texas run game hasn't been as dominant as it should be and leaning on passing makes it far easier for the defense to rush 4 and keep people in zone. And if they are getting pressure with 4 you're definitely doing something wrong.

I have to agree with you about Texas A&M except for one thing. They do have everything you need in today's NCAA............well except for one thing. Have you ever been to College Station? I don't mean on game day, I mean like on a random day in late June during summer break. I'm sure that there are some people that love that kind of place, but I'm betting it's not an 18 year old 5 star recruit with even more stars in his eyes. The city of College Station isn't exactly attracting a lot of players like say.............Austin, Miami, or even some more quaint college towns like Athens or Ann Arbor. Personally, I like College Station for what it is, but nobody is signing me to NIL and offering me a scholarship. You have to admit, the location is their biggest challenge besides the fact that it does happen to be in Texas, which is a plus if you're looking on the positive side. On a side note.........Kanell gets more pub from you than he gets anywhere else! LOL

100 percent we did not dominate that game, LSU seemed like they were a play or two from blowing us out at home. Unfortunately our O-line in the first half was unable to deal with the pressures LSU was bringing, and I think the holdover from fisher (our QB's were unprotected and therefore always injured) has really put some PTSD on Weigman. Super talented player who's hearing footsteps and making poor reads against above average defenses.
I was one drive from just turning the game off and doing something else with the rest of my day until that turnover and the qb change. We looked like an entirely different team after that, the O-line was making good blocks and getting to the second layer, the defensive line was more active pressuring, and the secondary was disguising coverages and making passes more difficult.
In a little over 23 minutes the Aggies scored 31 points. Truly astounding.

Just some stats and my opinion of the rankings and bs of college football.
Georgia: 2 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 4 ranked Wins minus championship game. (Clemson win not that special)
Texas A&M: 2 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 3 ranked Wins minus championship game.
Texas: 3 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 4 ranked Wins minus championship game.
(Michigan, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt are now not ranked) (They ranked Vanderbilt to give Texas a ranked Win.)
Tennessee: 3 ranked Wins/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 4-5 ranked Wins minus championship game.
(NC state, Oklahoma are now not ranked) (Alabama isn’t that great this year.)
LSU: 1 ranked Win/ 2 ranked Losses/ possibly 2-3 ranked Wins minus championship game.
(USC is now not ranked) (Ole miss and Alabama aren’t great this year.)
    Alabama: 2 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 3 ranked Wins
(Missouri isn’t a good team this year) (They kept them ranked to give Alabama another ranked Win)
    Arkansas: 1 ranked Win/ 3 ranked Losses/ possibly 3-4 ranked Wins
(OSU is really bad but were fortunate A&M also fortunate LSU Fortunate as well but more so because of injuries) (should be 4 ranked Wins 6-7 possible)
    Missouri: 1 ranked Win/ 2 ranked Losses/ possibly 1-2 ranked Wins
(Boston college is now not ranked) (If by chance Arkansas is ranked when they play is the 2 possible ranked Wins)
    Ole Miss: 0 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 1 ranked Win
(Wow what a schedule and still found a way to lose to Kentucky and LSU)
    Vanderbilt: 1 ranked Win/ 2 ranked Losses/ possibly 3 ranked Wins
(Missouri will probably end up being a bad Loss.)
    Florida: 0 ranked Wins/ 3 ranked Losses/ possibly 4 ranked Wins
(Miami wasn’t ranked at the time) (6-7 ranked matchups this season if you count Miami and the next 4 stay ranked)
    South Carolina: 0 ranked Wins/ 3 ranked Losses/ possibly 2-4 ranked Wins
    (Missouri Vanderbilt possible ranked matches)
    Oklahoma: 0 ranked Wins/ 3 ranked Losses/ poss 2-3 ranked Wins
(Missouri possible ranked match) (Ranked as long as they were to give teams like Texas a ranked Win)
    Auburn: 0 ranked Wins/ 3 ranked Losses/ possibly 2 ranked Wins
(Oklahoma is now not ranked and Missouri is not a good team this year.)
    Kentucky: 1 ranked Win/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 3 ranked Wins
(They beat Ole Miss. I guess that’s something.)
    Miss ST.: 0 ranked Wins/ 3 ranked Losses/ possibly 2-3 ranked Wins
(Missouri and Ole Miss aren’t that great)
    Oregon: 3 ranked Wins/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 3 ranked Wins
(Boise ST. wasn’t ranked at the time. Illinois and Michigan ranked so teams could beat ranked opponents, they haven’t beaten anyone to earn the ranks they have. Oregon only beat Ohio ST. and by 1 point.) Oregon could easily not even be in the conversation to be ranked if they played better teams. Or they can be better than everyone. It’s an unknown period. I mean Arkansas looked like the number 1 team in the nation dropping 70 on UAPB and 58 on Miss ST. but against stronger opponents, mistakes get made.
    Penn ST: 1 ranked Win/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 2 ranked Wins
(Illinois is their lone ranked Win… Wow)
    Ohio ST: 0 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 2 ranked Wins
(Penn ST. and Indiana is their strongest foes… Lol)
    Illinois: 3 ranked Wins/ 2 ranked Losses/possibly 3 ranked Wins
(Kansas Nebraska and Michigan make up their ranked Wins… all currently unranked. Penn ST. and Oregon benefited by beating an unjustly ranked Illinois team.)
    Indiana: 0 ranked Wins/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 1 ranked Win
(Wow) (They played no one and got ranked because they haven’t lost.) (Again a manufactured ranked team for Ohio ST. to cherry pick that ranked Win.)
    Miami: 0 ranked Wins/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 0 ranked Wins
(………….) (Possibly face Clemson in ACC championship for their first ranked game and the only somebody they might face.) (Clemson lost to Georgia badly and also has played no one else.) (South Carolina is likely to beat Clemson as well.) (Not Miami’s fault that Florida and Florida ST. are not good and dog doo doo this season)
    Notre Dame: 3 ranked Wins/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 4 ranked Wins
(Texas A&M was not ranked at the time and the first game of the season/ good Win against a now ranked really good team. Louisville is now not ranked. Another team to boost ranked Wins. Navy was ranked for this game and a good ranked Win. Army is another possible good ranked Win)
    BYU: 2 ranked Wins/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 2 ranked Wins
(They beat Kansas ST. and SMU who are ranked because they haven’t lost and haven’t played anyone. Kansas ST. beat Colorado whoop te do and SMU beat Louisville… wow. BYU barely beat Oklahoma ST. which hasn’t won a game since their fortunate double overtime win against Arkansas in the second game of the season. Oh wait they beat Tulsa next… then they Lost every game.)
    Clemson: 0 ranked Wins/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 1 ranked Win
(They played Georgia and lost bad in the opener, went from 14 to 25, have played absolutely nobody since, and since they haven’t lost, have went from 25 to 11 as of today. Wow.) Pittsburgh another undeserving ranked team is their only possible ranked Win, besides Miami in the championship possibly. Again Wow.)
    Iowa ST.: 1 ranked Win/ 0 ranked Losses/ possibly 2 ranked Wins
(Iowa is now not ranked. 1 point margin of VICTORY. A whopping 20-19. Yet again have played nobody and will play nobody. Kansas ST. wow. A nobody who has also played nobody. Colorado that’s a joke right. Oh wait Colorado is STILL ranked….. oh wait Colorado did play Kansas ST. …… and lost.) (Just to clarify Kansas ST. Beat Colorado and Colorado Lost to Kansas ST.) :)
    Boise ST: 1 ranked Win/ 1 ranked Loss/ possibly 1 ranked Win
(Lost by 3 to Oregon that’s their claim to fame and beat Washington ST. the pride of the PAC-12. :) My ball sweat could beat Washington ST. with little effort and a large handicap.) Jus Sayin
Y’all look at these stats and take them as you will. I see a lot of bs sprinkled with cat poo.

That’s around 76 ranked games for 16 SEC teams in the regular season, give or take a few, and around 26 ranked games for 11 of the 17 non SEC teams in the top 25. There’s around 11 for the other 6 in the top 25, so 37 ranked games for the 17 non SEC teams ranked in the top 25. And of course the actual number of games for the SEC teams is much less because that’s counting games twice, but it’s also much less for the other for the same reason.

@@xp7672 It's cool to break down, but I think some of the opinions are just off....such as "Clemson win not that special", "Alabama not that great", or Pitt as an "undeserving ranked team". I also don't think it makes any sense to look at what teams were previously ranked. Only what they've done on the field.

@@drewc771 I understand, the opinions are just that, opinions. Like Pitt, who’d they play that you see as a high bowl or championship team, or ranked as much as ranked really means. Syracuse.. West Virginia… No one. Alabama, their defense isn’t very good at all, again opinion, and could change. I could see a world that Auburn beats them this year. It will be extremely fortunate if Auburn makes a bowl this year. And Clemson, their strongest opponents so far is NC ST. and Virginia, again do you see them as extremely tough opponents headed for a championship or new years bowl. Like I said they lost bad to Georgia, maybe if they played them today it would be different. Also the reason to say if they were ranked at the time the game was played matters. It mattered then when a team beats a ranked team their value in the eyes of the people choosing the rankings goes up, when they’re picking who goes into the playoffs it might matter either way. In my opinion it matters.

@@xp7672 Opinions are opinions, but some are objectively more valid than others based just on logic and empirical evidence. For instance, saying "Alabama's defense isn't very good" simply isn't an accurate statement. Look at any power ratings stats out there based on actual performance, you will see Alabama's D in the top 10 of pretty much all of them. They are 11th in the country in yards allowed per play and they have played one of the hardest schedules in the country so far. We are used to Alabama being top 5, so it may seem like they're defense isn't that good...but no, it definitely still is. For the record, I'm not an Alabama fan.
On Pittsburgh, yeah they haven't beaten any top 25 teams. But they're 7-0 and have played several teams power ranked in the 40 to 60 range and beaten all of them. The bottom line is you have to put 25 teams in the top 25. You're not going to find 25 that should be ranked ahead of Pitt.
I know Clemson hasn't played hardly anyone after UGA, but they can only play who's in front of them and they've completely dominated those teams. I don't think anyone questions that they're still a good team and that that was a very quality win for UGA.
Keep in mind, the committee that does the playoff have done no rankings at all. They start fresh in a couple weeks. Previous media rankings, pre-season rankings mean absolutely nothing to them.

@@drewc771 okay, bama vs Vanderbilt, defense lost them the game. Agree or disagree. Bama vs Tennessee, defense lost them the game. Agree or disagree. Pitt completely agree, they beat several mid teams, totally unknown how they’d do against the top. Maybe they deserve to be there. They probably do. We’ll hopefully know in the end. Clemson, didn’t really see massive blowout wins, to say dominated them all, yes they won every game, some were probably actual good mid team wins, but like Shania Twain “that don’t impress me much”. lol And the committee, the poll people, whoever… they’re biased. Just the way it is, whatever they’re supposed to do, whatever they will do or use to justify picks or preferences. The money maker teams will be at the top. Period.

Connor looks like a shell of himself and this team will go as far and he can lead us
We cannot have a backup QB bail us out going forward against elite teams
We need a pass first QB to deliver which will also give our much improved running game help
I think Weigman has the yips. They went away briefly but came again

Maybe if every run play wasn’t an inside zone out of shotgun, they could catch the defense out of position.
