This song is an example of why they say "hindsight is 20-20" The older we get the more foolish we were as a youth. Oh, that my grandchildren and great grandchildren would be able to look back at my age and not be able to relate to this song!
This song brings me to my knees. For all those women I couldn't love, I'm sorry. I took a peices of ya'll with me and moved on. To the one who I love with all my heart, I wish you were still my wife..................To the rest of ya'll in this room, we would all do things different. Live your lifes folks with no regrets, no fears, and no limits. In the end we're all very strong thick skinned people.
I am not a country music fan, but today driving up to the VA hospital with my Dad, my sister who loves Country Music played this song, it brought tears to my Dad's eyes, had to listen to it again, it was an emotional moment for us all.
seems as Bill Anderson gets older his songs get more profound . i saw john conlee do this song on rfd tv and Bill anderson sitting there mouthing the words. A wonderful song that hits everyone in their soul if they are honest.
This song crossed my mind today. I have been in a battle ever since my only daughter (child) got married, had a baby and moved away. I heard about empty nest syndrome, but no one told me the silence is indescribable. I have battled depression all my life but this tops it :( Well what I would have done different is I wouldn't have been afraid to have lots of children. I thought it would be safe having one, as far as money, time, ...was I ever deceived. Just to be needed adds more life.
The first time I heard this song I cried, because I wish I would have done a lot of things different. Before my Mother passed away. She had begged me to change, but I didn't listen. No one else could sing it like Kenny...
Man... this hits home and probably for most every one out there, also ! I would of liked to of heard Johnny Cash sing this song. It seems like the type of song J.C. would really relate to like his super rendition of " Hurt " and other sad, painful songs like " Sunday Morning Coming Down ". Great job, Kenny !!
YES the best ever! I remeber the first time I heard this song in new york, and I didnt have any money and was on the streets for a few days nowhere to go and I would always go into Virgin record store ,and hear cds for free and I heard this over and over and was crying lilke a lil baby it was just so real and honest I can relate to all these words at the time love ya kenny! And thank you.
this songs is so true, i miss my brother so much, wasted so much time with petty pride and now it will never the same. id done a lot of things different. but its not over yet, there are still loved ones out there that need us, and maybe we can learn from our mistakes and do some things different. kiss your mom, hug your dad if they are still there, take your granpas to church if they are alive. hug your brother and sis and tell that u love them.
When growing up, and staying with my grandmother, I went to church with her and granny, I remember that and Sunday dinners when I think back to the time when granny/great grandmother was alive.
Whenever I want to go back and drag my heart through the mud. All I have to do is listen to a few songs and this is one of them. It's funny you might forget how much you loved someone but, the songs remember. Ofa lahi atu 'monkey' from 'puppy'.
Man, this song hits home. The only people who wouldnt agree with that, are the ones who deceive themselves. I'd surely of done a lotta things different !!
Cpl. i wish i could find the words to express how i feel about all armed forces fighting terrorism. Especially US Marines. If you haven't been told lately, thank you and your brother and everyday i thank God for people like you and him. I feel honored to serve with men like you two. Semper Fi
Kenny, probably your best song to date man! I told Jackie that you would be bigger than Tim McGraw as soon as we bought the CD with When I Close My Eyes. I knew I was right, and I was! Jimmy Browder
i ♥ this song, it brings tears to my eyes everytime i hear it, especially the second verse. i wish i couldve spent more time with my dad while he was alive but i never had the chance & i wish i wouldve told my cousin i loved him the last time i seen him before he died but i just said bye & i wish i wouldve went to church with my mamaw when she begged me to but i was & still am afraid of God & boy do i wish i wouldve listend when they said ,girll youre gonna wish you hadnt, but i wouldnt.♥
I wish I would have went to church on Sunday morning when grandma asked me to .... so true.... do it while your grandma is still alive.... I didn't think I would regret not going at the time, but now I do, oh so much

Hey MeatPuppetiThinkSo Im in the army. Im a Sgt and there is nobody MIA around that time. Currently there is only one Soldier MIA from OEF and that is PFC Bowe R. Bergdahl MIA since June 30 2009. Sgt Brandon T. Islip is listed as whereabouts unknown as of nov 4 2009 from OEF.
My life is a series of addiction, meds, alcohol, and before that playing it safe, always obeying rules. I have lived so little life in my 31 years. And now that I am 31 I feel lost. I don't know how to engage myself in the real world so I spend a lot of time at home playing on the internet and working at a crap job. I need to do things different now but I feel I wasted the fun years of my life. And now what should I do? Sigh. [I know its easy just get out and live ... but its not easy...]
@sherylcpeubanks I agree about the 20-20. Because right now, i would not change a thing. Things are better now than back then. But, If things were worse now, and i had better days? Well then the shoe is on the other foot! lol I pray for Better days lol
my favorite song by kenny too. what a sad song . it makes me think how fucked up i was to someone that i should have treated better
Country music is a reflection of life in it's purest form. And sometimes it's harshest.
I would have done oh-so-many things very different... Everytime I hear this song, my eyes well up with tears, but I'm addicted to this song.
I just cry all the time, beautiful song.

Man, wouldn't we all!!!
Don't take life so damn seriously!!!!
Thank you for your kind words.
He is currently listed as M.I.A., since Feb 09
why does that box keep outlining that guy who is he?
I would have partied a whole lot less in college and maybe even graduated instead of dropping out and moving to San Francisco.
I would not have done that much differently.
dont drink while listening to this song
Just like it
Not the guy. You scroll over it with the mouse and words are hilighted beneath it.
