I was 13 when I murdered a chicken. It appeared to me the chicken did not want to die. First our leader told me to cut their head off with an axe. I did it. Their body was warm when I cut it open and we were suppose to cook it and eat it. I could not eat the chicken after. I was young and got criticized by so many people including my own family for not eating meat. I didn’t have the words I do today but I knew that chicken was someone and I did something bad by killing them! I liked the taste of chicken and many times I would go out or stay at a friends house and they would have a lot of meat and I was hungry and it looked and smelled good but I just could not eat it because of what I knew. People would say that it is just a phase and I will eat animals again. Now I am still learning about veganism at the age of 35! I didn’t even know about the milk industry 😢. I used to avoid the animal activists that stood outside my local kfc. Thought they were assholes. Now I've been vegan for a decade and wish I had of listened to those guys earlier.

What about all of the animals and “pests” that farmers have to kill in order to protect your food so that you can live your vegan lifestyle? Is that okay?

I’ve been to multiple farms where they’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of animals they have to kill just so you guys can eat your veggies, otherwise if the animals got to them you’d have nothing to eat.

The idea of "growing your own food" isn't something new in nature. Many insects farm their own food. Ants, beetles, termites and even worms. Heck there are even gophers that farm their own food. And fun fact, if you're saying factory farming is exclusive to the meat industry... It's kinda mostly dominated by vegetables, fruits and plants. When are go to the supermarket, there are more canned plants than canned meat. Not to mention nearly all vegetables today are factory farmed. 🙃

Factory farmed fruits and veggies really DON'T contribute one fraction of a percent of AGW gases that factory farmed animals do.
Factory farmed veggies don't consume vast quantities of food (whilst every three seconds a human child dies of starvation) and don't produce even VASTER quantities of effluent that poisons waterways and aquifers (who needs clean drinking water after all?).
The MRSA bacteria arose out of the wholesome American practice of feeding methicillin to livestock as if they were "Smarties" … ergo producing bacteria that were resistant to it.
Talk to most any meat eater and they'll say that they're vehemently opposed to factory farming of animals… which means _de facto_ they're opposed to 99% of meat production.

Thank you for your incredible work Joey. I stopped eating meat at 8 years old when I found out that mince was actually a cow. It took 20 years before I learned about the horrors of the dairy and egg industry through activist like yourself and earthing Ed. I’m so grateful to say I’ve now been vegan for 5 years. I just wish I’d realised sooner and I truly believe that most people out there would go vegan too if they really understood what happens to the animals. Thank you for always trying to get people to think, we’ve apparently got these huge ‘superior’ brains, it’s about time used them for some good ✌🏻

I only use vegan shampoo and cosmetics from companies that do not sell in China as they require animal testing.
I went to a great deal of trouble to purchase vegan leather boots. I will never buy leather.

I mean they are literally children, I think they did pretty well considering theres an almost 100% chance their families eat eat, and their preconceived notion of vegans is probably negative. once you get to the sentience part of the argument (basically the dog part, my dude even realizes he might only view dogs as more than cows or pigs because of his uprbringing) it only takes a little bit to go vegan... might take some time but i dont think they were hopeless cases.

Hmm, I was always told that carnivores don't taste as good as herbivores and that because they only eat meat, their own meat is not as clean and healthy either. Maybe that's why eating dogs and cats didn't catch in most of the world. 🤔

A lot better of a conversation than I would have expected with kids or adults this young -- you got through so many of the different excuses people make. It's definitely common for people much older to have a much lesser understanding of these arguments. I think there's definitely a decent chance they could go vegan.
actually debating with the younger gen is more enjoyable than older. younger people listen and are more civil than older ego driven gen x and boomers. speaking from experience.
