If you follow the positioning instructions, you irradiate the face. The text books have been wrong for decades by not applying basic geometric principles on positioning. So, use the same instructions, (because this puts the tube focus in the right place), but then angle to tube less so collimation appears on the bottom of the film. This means collimation to just above the brow line
