28 Dec 2016: Wow, Julissa Bermudez is really a cutie pie. Her skin tone is so beautiful. So proud of Julissa being an African Latina. Let's remember; Laz Alonso, Zoe Saldaña, Tatyana Ali, Idalis Deleon, Gina Torres, Antonio Fargas, Melissa DeSousa and others like the pro baseball players who are African Latinos and members of the world famous Colombia salsa group, "Grupo Niche".
Social Media showed Maxwell dancing and grinding with Tiffany Haddish at Jennifer Lopez birthday party in 2018 Jullisa what's up GIRL!!!! I know you SAW IT!!!!!!!
They always add the African bit when in that black culture but every other time African bit is in the closet, that's the Spanish speaking countries down in the south for you.
The answers to the Questions are in the Bible.there is nothing hidden that shall not be reveal.I notice no one never ever ask the question Why.Why the other people's if the world hate us.?this not merely a social issue it is a spiritual issue.we are the original people of world ,we are Egypt,we are Israel we are hebrews descendants of Abraham Moses Solomon david.we are the people and this is why they hate.becayse God made us first after His image
I'm for afro Latinos being apart of our accomplishments but the moment we let thy other in is a problem because they never include Black folks in anything nor afro latinas according to amara...
@Jenna Smith naw you got it wrong many deny their African Ancestry she accepts it an has always Identified as A Black Woman of Latina descent We use words like Morena Negra Negro Negrita to identify our self and our blackness
okay, so this been weighing on my mind heavy, should black people accept Latin women and men to identify as afro or just plain African because where i come from Florida, many of them sway, their whatever ethnicity when it's convenient for them but you know what black men and women cannot do? sway when it's convenient for us. Yeah i get it they have various ethnicity within their being, but........
aaliyah houston it's not about who accept or doesn't accept, it's just about who they are! Whether you agree or disagree with them being black, that doesn't change the fact that they came from their African ancestors, don't confuse race with ethnicity!!

I think the problem is more that there's not enough specificity in things that require us to self-identify. Because if you're Latin and Black, and you identify as both, why should you have to pick one over the other? I think if given the choice, most afro-Latin people would identify consistently as racially Black (or maybe biracial) and ethnically Latin. But they're not, so they identify with whatever makes more sense at the time, and given the circumstances. For instance, I consider myself Afro-Latin. My mother's side of the family is Dominican and Cuban, and are all mixed race. My father's side is also mixed-race, but they're all American. I look like your run of the mill light-skinned/mixed Black girl. Under the vast majority of circumstances, if I'm not given the option to choose my ethnicity AND my race, I'll identify as Black because I know that is what people see when they look at me, and because I'm culturally more American than Latin (grew up in the US). But, if I have the option I will ALWAYS pick Black and Hispanic. The problem is that a lot of times forms/people will ask you to choose. And that's difficult. It's like if you have a two-tone striped T-shirt, but you're only allowed to call it one color or the other. Which do you choose? It'll be inconsistent because they're both true in equal portions. Especially if you're more racially ambiguous than I am.
You can’t tell her how to identify. She has black features. Obviously she’s mixed but you can clearly see she’s black but she’s latina. Hence Afro latina
Stupid Mestizo neanderthal demon. People like you make the lives of blacks in Latin America difficult and you have the nerve to come and tell her she is not Afro Latina? you think she doesn't know who she is?
Latinos who have some black ancestry should stop identifying with a racial identity foreign to their culture. Unless you are unquestionably or predominately black, Latinos have little justification to call themselves "Afrolatino." That is exclusively a US American concept. The US black experience is totally and completely different to people of color in most of Latin America. Unfortunately as a nonwhite person in the US, they feel like they have to conform. They feel like they need to acquire a new identify and place the "Afro" label on their foreheads. They feel compeled to adapt to the black American cultural experience, as if their own when in fact it is not, but rather incongruent to their own cultural identity. In the US everyone who has a darker skin hue or deeper melanin are placed in the same bucket with no distinctions made to identify them as something other then black or white. There are no concessions provided for those who fall in between. And that is wrong.
Julissa Bermudez hasn't age and I watched her when I was a teen on BET show called The Center.
