I find it very disappointing that he has ended up a sort of "everyman" and suppose its what happens when a character passes through the hands of many different teams of writers over the years. If he was a character in a film or series written by one person I think he would definitely have continued on his malevolent downward spiral. @@michvanderzant9509 David uses spite as a coping mechanism. But we see the build up to it. It's genuine. He only says it wasn't to Sarah, because she wouldn't believe him if he told her it was true anyway.

Loved evil David Platt. 2007 was a fantastic year for David he was so evil & funny at the same time. How long have you been watching for then mate? And what are your thoughts on Corrie at the moment.
Jamie Vardy I’ve been watching Corrie since I was little, and I’d say 1999-2006 was it’s peak. I think it’s gotten quite tired since then. Jack P Shepherd, though, has remained a fantastic actor from the second he came into the street to the present.
Corrie Platt Fan I agree with that. David is my favourite character ever on Corrie. He can do comedy but also serious storylines for example when Kylie died & Josh raped him etc. I love the Platt at the moment David & Shona are brilliant together. Loved David & Nick’s feud & now it will be Sarah & Nick’s feud. ++ you’ve still got the icons Gail & Audrey. The Platt family holiday & when Audrey got hit by that thing was very funny.
I've watched David Platt over the years, and I *think* I've finally cracked it: the reason why David is the way he is. First is the obvious factor: age. David was only 12 when Richard Hillman drove him into the canal, so it likely affected him more than others (as opposed to Gail who was an adult, Sarah who was 16, and Beth who was 2 so she didn't really understand what was going on). But now here's my *theory* on how it all began: on 26 August 1991 (when David was only eight months old), Nick accidentally hit David really hard on the head with a cricket bat. That probably caused a personality change within David and likely made him much more susceptible to later traumas than other people. He became vile and dangerous as the years went on. All his later traumas were just the icing on the cake. It also explains how he "never felt better" after what he had gone through. At one point, David even tried to kill Macca after the trauma he had undergone. It also explains why David *still* has recurring nightmares of Richard Hillman driving him into the canal, despite it being so many years ago. I don't think this was even the writer's intention, and I know I may be reaching, but I roll with it because it makes the most sense. He is, in my opinion, the greatest and most interesting character in Corrie. It's indisputable for me.
6:59 - If you look closely he looks away for a split second with a tear in his eyes and then turns back to Sarah and smiles because he is trying to hide how he really feels
David has just always been the best! one time i cant rember when but it was portrayed that he was going to be killed and i cryed lol. If they kill david it wouldnt be corrie any more david, and amazing actor.
That trick that Sarah played on David with those E's is just downright cruel, spiteful and despicable. She is a horrible person in my estimation. I know his actions almost led to the death of her daughter, but David was trying to reform himself and turn over a new leaf. Why couldn't she just support him in that instead of just continually rubbing salt in the wound?
Sarah could be a cow sometimes. She's a bit stuck-up and snobbish, and looks down on people she doesn't understand and deems less than. She is a selfish bitch, wanting to be the centre of attention when a family crisis was happening - her brother has a lot of issues. It's annoying, the way the scriptwriters tried to make her "perfect" despite getting pregnant at 12 and having kids by 3 different people. Just because she's middle-class, doesn’t mean she's better than chavs; like most chavs of the female kind, she has no life goal other than to reproduce as much as possible.
