    Thanks. It's nice to be aware of traps that one can encounter. Mini PC are great, but lastly I decided to put in my homelab a ATX machine. For now I have HDDs connected with USB. With ATX I will connect them through SATA and I will have space for some future expansion.

      What I have done is go the Mini-PC route, but then to iSCSI mount disks from a NAS on the network. I have a couple great iSCSI videos. The one compelling use case I can see for using an ATX machine might be having the PCIx slots for powerful GPU card for either transcoding or AI applications.
