After about 8 years of chronic pain that kept spreading over the year, i developed many symptoms. One was after 8 years w pain, i developed sensitivity to coffee, white rice and garlic. I would literally have attacks that put me on the ground, thinking im dying. I couldn't get out of bed for about 3 days everytime i had some, in severe ungodly pain. I quit coffee for 2 years and i was so depressed that i couldn't even enjoy a nice cup, especially when i smelled it brewing for my wife. After learning about tms and gaining some confidence i told my brain " i know what the F you are doing and im not gonna take it anymore, i dont give a ish about whatever symptoms you throw at me". And magically, miraculously, i have zero food sensitivities and can once again ENJOY A NICE CUP OF JOE. Appreciate your work Dan 🙏

Absolute proof that fear of foods/drinks is the problem. Not the food or drink itself. Thanks for sharing.

I get what you mean! Because then it’s like oh wow I’ll get symptoms even if I ate air all day! I’ve been noticing the same that it really doesn’t even matter what I eat then I get the symptoms and sometimes don’t. I’m dealing with stomach, gerd, heartburn kind of issues and then have changed location in the GI tract through these three or so years, so yes telling your body that “the Jig is up” is great! Telling our bodies,” I know what you are doing and I’m done with this! “ Lol glad coffee can be your friend again!

You are right. Nutrition is not the way out. It did the opposite for me when I went on an anti inflammatory diet. It put my body into extreme stress. I started to lose my hair. Body became very reactive. It took two years to sort itself out when I returned to a normal diet. It was hell. Now I can eat anything without going into severe pain all over my body.
Most books you read about chronic pain start with nutrition and I’m like it’s never worked. Then they add a chapter at the end about stress and mental health. Almost like an afterthought. We really need to rework this formula. I think most illnesses are caused by stress, anxiety and worry. We are putting our bodies through a lot.

For any chronic painers reading this, I’ve done a lot of the nutrition BS. I did strict keto for almost a year, I did carnivore for a few months, I did a fasting regiment for a few months where I fasted for 48 hours each time before I ate... although I saw some really cool health benefits and created some amazing discipline I can always use if I want to ever drop Weight, there was still pain. It did not help my pain . If it did it was minuscule. I am now eating whatever the heck I want with no increase in the pain. It was hard at first to get over my fear because I conditioned myself to be scared of sugar, carbs, and other nutrients. But now it’s all good. Love and happy unlearning to you all.

I've experimented with a number of diets, including carnivore and keto. While it has zero effect on TMS and pain - I gotta say, my gut and digestion felt the best on Carnivore.

I fasted for 23 days and it felt like "the pain" wanted to go away. I also did 23 days carnivore, a really Awesome experience and similar to fasting. I did keto for 2 years, combined w extreme weight lifting, i got into the best shape of my life, im talking ripped w the most extreme pain imaginable. I also developed food sensitivities prior to all that and overcame them w the mind/body approach, coffee being the #1. I feel "dont throw the baby out w the bath water" is best. Many of the food sensitivities are strictly mind/body but the body, diet, and exercise have their place. I have been so into the mind trying to solve the tms riddle that the body has went less important. I truly believe, on a diet level, lower carbs, fewer calories, less sugar, more exercise/ movement is best for a healthy lifestyle. Both carnivore and fasting were Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. Thanks for sharing 🙏

My chronic pain started with IBS over 10 years ago so I went from eating anything and everything to having to restrict certain fruit/vegetables (FODMAPs). Now I have fibromyalgia (fibro and IBS are close cousins) but I've pushed through to a point where I eat whatever I like but focus mainly on food the grows in the ground or animals that eat the food that grows in the ground. Cutting sugar and processed junk food does help with lessening fibro flares but nutrition cannot cure chronic pain - only your brain can. I do find that coffee helps me feel good briefly but I only have 2 cups a day. Thanks for all your help Dan, this channel is a lifesaver!

❤ really needed this today! I know for myself that gluten free, sugar free, dairy free never took away the pain or fix the autoimmune. You’re so right that if I fear a particular food I’m totally sunk because my body will react in a negative way. It’s happened already so I have proof. Eat clean the best I can because it’s good for my health in general. Thx Dan as usual

Breathing is Good! We would probably all agree that junk food could be dispensed with..but you described me perfectly Here! Before I realized I had TMS..I tried every diet under the Sun to cure myself! It Does NOT Work! Your Belief system is the Only Thing that Works! You are so totally Right! I have spent years Proving this to myself. I can Totally Support what you are saying! Fear IS the Devil!

    I think it's about moderation.
If I have a lot of bread/carbs, my heart will start beating hard afterwards, and there will be obvious palpitations.
I had a blizzard from Dairy Queen last week; same thing.
So the signal to me is very simple: "My body doesn't like this" (carbs and sugar).
On the other hand, if someone else can eat both and not feel "amped up" after, then I don't think there is a signal being given that anything's wrong.
I guess where I'm getting at is "listen to your body", and it's different for each person.
But all in all to Dan's main point. Fear is what is causing pain, even if you're eating unhealthy. The issue I have is always triggered by negative emotions getting thrown into me, where if I knew to just let those negative slings from the other just pass by, I would be fine. It's such a learning process of not caring what anyone thinks of you. This has been easy for me except for those who insist you see them at certain time (e.g. family), who may live to poke holes in your life.
That's a video there. How to not see family members who make you feel awful. Ha.

Thank you! I’m a nurse and very questioning about this whole gut health push. I’m all for good gut health, but how many products do you have to buy to make this happen? It seems like a lot is being peddled in the name of gut health.

Eat reasonably well. Reduce stress. The body knows exactly what to do. We don't add health by taking pills, powders and potions.

It’s good to hear this from a nurse! You are on the front lines and thank you for what you do. I have spent thousands on gut supplements, probiotics, etc., etc. It hasn’t made any difference. I’m not saying this can’t help people, just my own experience. You are so correct; lots of people are making big $$$. Thank you.

But I also have a friend who had a parasite from a trip to South America. Not eating gluten and dairy really helps her IBS. And some IBS coaches etc also say it is a combo of handling stress AND foods. I really want to believe that is not the case but these examples keep going through my mind. Help!

Great topic Dan ! I agree - having been pushed into taking goodness only knows how many obscure supplements that stressed me because I couldn't afford them - I stopped and felt no different physically but more relaxed mentally!
Also there is now hope that I won't have to take a handful of digestive enzymes every time I eat - pancreatic insufficiency and enzymes for life docs said - no , TMS as I've often wondered !!

Alcohol is a depressant so may calm anxiety. Unless of course, you are judging yourself for drinking alcohol which could stress you out. Regardless, I don't recommend drinking as medicine.

My biggest breakthrough was after I stopped indulging my sadness in ice cream, cookies and chocolate. I eliminated 90% of it and I have more good days than bad now 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know for sure the work works too! But I really don’t feel refined sugar is good for an inflammatory process. I use coconut sugar and it doesn’t produce flares. I recently added 85% dark chocolate back into my diet and so far so good. With that said I have heard people say that they’re back to sugar and goodies after healing their pain and it doesn’t cause flare ups so it’s not set in stone. At this point, if it decreases my pain, I’ll entertain it while I do my work!

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  4 года назад

There are many reasons to cut out refined sugar. Do it because overall, we don't need the sugar and it's bad for us.
