I saw Chappell on her Midwest Princess tour last November in Seattle! I took a solo trip for the concert and made friends with some other fans at a pre party at a gay bar she threw. She wasn’t there but it was super cool to hear her music and connect with others.
I saw Chappell during the GUTS tour! Didn’t know who she was but I always make it a point to listen to them perform to see if I would like their music and I loved her. I am now obsessed with her
I love this being released the same day as Drew’s. Chappell content left and right and I’m obsessed
I found out about Chapell after Red Wine Supernova was on my fyp, got completely hyperfixated on the song until Tik Tok stopped showing me her content and then.. she was everywhere!
I'm so sad she didn't get to tour Europe before her big break because now it'll cost a fortune if we ever get to see her 😭

I lived in Kansas City for a few months and the locals just say Missouruh that way. It’s very midwestern plains out there, more akin to the Midwest than the south for sure.
Southern Illinois here, I refer to our area and southern Missouri (st Louis) as “the southern Midwest” there’s even a weird Midwestern/southern accent that sounds like the rural accent but is more southern

Taylor Swift is the complete opposite of an industry plant. She was discovered playing a set at the Bluebird at 14 years old by a guy who was gonna start a label, but didn’t HAVE one yet.
Her parents were a stock broker and a marketing manager in advertising and knew zero about the music business
Taylor Swift’s label, Big machine Records, was a start up label with her as the first signee. When she signed, her father invested in the label
I don’t know if he bought albums or not but even if true, 10,000 albums does nothing

I’ve been a fan of Chappell Roan since 2021 and went to see her at a small concert in early 2023. It’s crazy that I saw her in a small standing room only venue just 10 feet away from me and now thousands of people are excited to see her on the Jumbotron things. I’m incredibly happy for her 🥰
What’s crazy is I saw Chappell in 2022 when she opened for Fletcher and I fell in love immediately like right after her set I added her music to my Spotify! I loveddddd her and her bands outfits, hair and makeup and the songs were beautiful and fun!! But my friends didn’t agree with me and actually had said they didn’t find her music as good as it was in person and now they’re all huge fans so it’s just beautiful to see how big she’s gotten!!!

About the adoption/all the ways to have a kid, “A Gathered Nest” here on RUclips has done natural, domestic adoption, international adoption, IVF with adopted embryos, they’ve done it all! Very sweet, but interesting family!
The concept of the “industry plant” is a little bit more nuanced. If a record label auditions for a band to create a specific sound, etc, cool. Do that. No issues. The problem is that they are doing it to subvert an authentic social movement so that they can steer it towards their own commercial benefit. Like Punk music isn’t useful to the record labels if it talks about fighting back against those same labels. Meanwhile what about Punk that’s only about partying and dating? Well gee…that seemed coincidentally popular during the record industry’s golden age.
The Industry Plant is “astroturfing.” It’s subversion performed by leaders of industry. It’s a direct assault against actual grass-roots authentic social movements.
The concern here would probably be commodifying queer identities in a way that’s profit friendly. It seems unlikely to me that we’re seeing that here. I agree that especially whenever women become successful in music people are very quick to accuse them of being plants. It’s also an old cliche in music that it takes a decade to be an overnight success. Like of course no one heard about her before she was successful. That’s how that works.

Bruh Taylor Swift was not an industry plant. Her dad may have been rich but her parents didn’t have connections to the music industry. And just because her dad might’ve helped her financially (moving to Nashville) doesn’t mean her dad made her get famous ?? She worked her ass off.
