    in SG use QR code, but in JB still need to show passport. Hold phone and passport. More thing to think and do. I prefer passport, unless both end use QR code then is ok. But if battery flat, then can't do anything. This is under the BOPIAN act!

    Ya so malaysia side still on manual checking system means they can't clear as fast as us means the backlog on the causeway will start to grow into a bottleneck.

    Malaysia will implement the same thing...
    ... in another 50 years if we're lucky. If not, maybe in another 100 years

    However, other comments suggest that the responsibility for identifying and resolving the problem should be left to the ICA, and that the officers working tirelessly to address the issue should not be blamed.

    This will make Malaysia checkpoint sweat, so if only Singapore improves then what is the point. Unless Malaysia wanted to buy the system from you

    The disruption in the system also affected auto-lanes for departing and arriving passengers across all terminals at Changi Airport.

    Several netizens have stated that this level of disruption is not acceptable for Singapore as a developed country, and that the world’s number one airport should not have such a significant blunder.

    Not safe as no physical passport. Let’s say someone kidnap or human trafficking and the syndicate has the person’s passport particulars and simply just by keying in on the ICA apps, the victim w/o physical passport would still be able to exit the country.
    At least with physical passport, it is not easy or it can be detected on the spot and it rings a bell if the victim has no physical passport to show the immigration.
    NO BRAINER SYSTEM?

    • @_graiderz2462
      @_graiderz2462 6 месяцев назад +1

      But the ica officer will still have to check the victim's face image on their computer and the victim face in the car.
      Am I wrong?

    • @lollipolli73
      @lollipolli73 6 месяцев назад

      @@_graiderz2462 yes but that’s not the point. The point is, with physical passport means a lot. A person w/o a physical passport might not want to travel but instead being forced to and since no need passport, the process will still go thru.
      But if
      physically passport is needed, it is more difficult for the person to be forced to travel, like kidnapping or extortion or human trafficking.

      This is best countered by mass education programs directed to vulnerable individuals. Also, while your situation presents an issue, my impression is that usually human traffickers who lull rather than kidnap still manage to convince those WITH passports.
