This may sound a little strange. Several years ago they made a wax replica of Christ, based on the shroud that they believed to cover Christ. I printed off those pictures, and every time I take my prayer book to prayer, I take time to look at those pictures. They’re a constant reminder that there’s nothing Christ wouldn’t do for us! I encourage you to consider looking them up and printing them off. Every time you take Matthew to Christ, remind yourself, there’s nothing our Lord wouldn’t do for Matthew. Take time to reflect on that beautiful scripture in Isaiah, “He was wounded for transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was laid upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” I think it’s Isaiah 53:5, but don’t quote me on that.
