Thanks for the video! Impressive image from that codec (for the bit-rate especially).

Very nice! Having 10-bit must make color grading in post that bit easier.

The footage looks great. I do alot of wedding work, and during the vows sometimes like to do a very slow creep zoom out. How slow is the slowest zoom on the X70 as you widen out? And can that be fixed so that however hard you press the rocker it stays at the same speed? Great if you could post a simple demo of that!

Thanks. I just shot a wedding with it last weekend and it turned out great.
Very slow zooms are a function of the servo motors and their voltage control, and smaller cameras never perform with the zoom precision of larger ones. I find the zoom speeds on the X70 completely acceptable for such use. You can't do a slow "creep" (barely perceptible) in or out, but you can do a nice slow zoom.

+MacroView Thanks for the info. I also from time to time make short films. Have you done any experimentation with a "filmic" look using the camera: does it shoot OK in progressive without too much "stuttering" in fastish motion? Is there a good picture preset in the camera which works well for this type of thing?

24p @48 shutter looks great. Check out the Sony X70 Shooters Facebook page. Lots of great info there. I have posted a nice PP there as well.

Great how did you manage to work with the xavc files natively?

correct me if I am wrong but I read that the PXW only records 420 internally when you select 4K. If this is 4K did you record it externally?

+Skill Builder You are correct and I did record this internally.
4:2:0 gives you more grading possibilities than many think, especially with this camera, its sensor, and codec chip. My colorist was surprised to discover it was not 4:2:2.

Thanks. I am about to buy this camera. It would be interesting to see what the 422 is like in 4K but that upgrade price means I might just shoot HD for a while

You should be careful with your grade or maybe change your screen because i'm looking on a 5k calibrated display and what I see does not look very good. Everything is over saturated, shadows are crushed, highlight have almost no roll off. Honestly I find that in most case the non graded image look better than the graded one.
If there is a meaning to the grades then do all you want, I wouldn't juge art but if you want a more basic flat to rec709 change and makes the image just look a bit better then be careful over saturation and data lost in the shadows and highlights.
