Thanks to your video series, I finally picked up materials today so I could repot my peyote plant and I've germinated 10 seeds in the process! Thank you sir!
I was at the swapmeet this morning and a older Mexican man and his wife where sell cactus and drought tolerant plants , nice selection as my wife love cactus and as my wife was checking out what he had for sale with his wife I asked him if he had any rare stuff for sale in his Van . He said to me come look .... and to my surprise there they where a bout 12 or 13 of them about 1'' to 1-1/4'' in diameter ! I offered him $50 for all of them and his eyes lite up , so they are home with me now and tomorrow I will follow your directions and watch more of your videos on How To . Thank you again for all the awesome info and I subscribed to your channel too Alan & Chi
I get mine from Home Depot. I wouldn't use natural sand. It may have nasties in it as well as salt. The sand has to be coarse as well or it will harden the soil.
Question: What if you have buttons but they haven't started regrowing their roots yet? Would you still put them on top of a layer of sand, or would you put it directly on the potting mix in this case until the roots start to come in? (Also, any tips for getting cut buttons to sprout roots?) Thank you!
How about planting 3 or 4 on the same pot? Also when watering the sand start to sink untill it finally comes through? Thats what has happened when growing from seeds and soil has sand in it. I used 25-35% sand in my mix.
Thank you very much for the information. It will help me greatly. Do you have any sources of buying L.W. cactuses. I'd really appreciate it as i intend to help the scarcity of these indigenous plants that continue to be harvested improperly. Unfortunately many people don't understand how long it takes for one button to grow. Or even cutting it at almost the bottom of the button out in the wild killing the plant and making this magnificent specimen of cactus more scarce. Which is truly sad and unfortunate. I do have a website which i can buy from. But I'd like to have more than just one option. Thanks again for your information and i look forward to watching more of your videos. Take fare and g'bye for now. Graciously Patrick McGovern
@@SacredButtons I planted my four plants in small, separate clay pots, but didn't give them any water. I'm dying to water them as it seems so weird not watering a plant when it's first potted. Should I at least give them bit? Thanks again. 😊
There should be about an inch of space between each peyote and from the peyote to the edge of the pot. Although, potting them separately in smaller pots would be ideal.
Im Apache and my tribes in Arizona, i live in Michigan. I cant just go get it from the tribe so I reached out to a church and they wanted my money and then told me to reach out to my tribe lol wack.

You're a very good teacher and i love your videos. When mixing the soil is it parts by weight or volume. Best regards
Thank you, I appreciate that! I measure by volume. 🙂
Where do you get your sand? I have sand from the beach. Would that be too salty? Thanks

what do you think about 100% mineral soil?
Can I use pumice in place of the gravel?
Yes, that should work fine. 🙂

What about using acloth pot? I just recieved 2 buttons, should they be potted separately?
I would stick to a clay pot. No they do not have to be separated as long as they have room to grow

Is it ok to plant a LWC and an LW in the same pot? Thanks 😊
Yes :)
@@SacredButtons Thank you 😊
How do i get my cuttings to root? I have a lot of buttons that need saving from a graft that i was gifted, and need to repot them.
Hi how can I get seeds or a cactus (lophophona). This is so interesting !!
Should I just plant one cactus per pot?
You can put multiple in one pot just give them room to grow. You may have to repot eventually.

@@baublesanddolls You can water them. It won't hurt. Fully saturate the soil and water again once it dries completely.
Where can I get a button from?
Where are you located?
