One difference to consider with the Volk v Islam fight and the Jones v Gane fight is that Jones is not cutting weight at all. If the Islam v Volk fight was a free weight fight, Islam's cardio would have been better. Also, that was Islam's first title defense and he did it without Khabib. Jone's mentality is better than it has ever been, judging by his interviews. He's not cutting weight and he is chomping at the bit to get in the octagon. To be honest, I think Jone's K.O.'s Gane. Maybe it's by ground and pound, or it maybe it's after he grinds on Gane for a few rounds and zaps his energy. Either way, I think he wins by strikes.
Gane is sharp. He's technical. However Tai connected on him in a match that he didn't have to worry about wrestling at all. Imagine the openings that will be presented with a caliber of competitor like Jones.

Jones ain’t KOeing anyone. If he wins it’s a decision with little to no damage done. Jones couldn’t take Reyes Nor Santos down and he tried a lot. He ain’t taking down a much bigger and stronger Gane who will 100% be ready for the grappling which IMO is Jones only path to victory .

What has Gane done to prove that he's better than every single person Jon Jones has fought? He fights in a division that's arguably worse than women's Flyweight. Anything he accomplishes (which isn't much at this point) has to be weighed against that fact.

I meant physically and literally. Gane would’ve steamrolled over Ryes, Santos, Smith, OSP. Jones didn’t. If you want to talk accomplishments and what not then sure. Shogun technically speaking achieved more than Gane. Doesn’t matter Gane still the much superior fighter.

@@TheMMASensei Those are all the people he fought toward the end of his LHW career. Pretty much all the worst names on his UFC resume. In no way has Gane proven that he's better than a prime Shogun, Machida, Rampage, Rashad, Cormier, etc. 'the much sup...'

@@TheMMASensei Your opinion of Gane's skills is based on him beating an over the hill JDS (years after the two Cain beatings) and Derrick Lewis...which speaks for itself. This reminds me of Valentina stans hyping her up and ignoring the fact that she cleaned out the worst division in the UFC, except it's worse because Valentina didn't get outgrappled by the equivalent of Francis Ngannou. Gane stans hate talking about the fact that Ngannou of all people outwrestled him. How's he gonna stop Jones from doing that, by the way?

The thing which I think a lot of people may be misreading is Gane's takedown defence. I see soooo many people saying he has garbage wrestling defence, all because of NCAA Ngannou. Yet here is the problem with this reasoning - did anyone expect Francis to wrestle, let alone Gane lol? We shall find out on Sat, but I really think it was the element or surprise which is why Gane got taken down, as it literally was the most unexpected thing. With Jones, we know exactly what he's going to try and do, and I believe Gane will be well prepared for Jones' takedowns.
Of course, Jones could surprise all of us by outstriking Gane, but I seriously doubt this.
If Gane's takedown defence is on point, I see a relatively comfortable UD win (possibly a late TKO).

Not only that, but I don’t get where this whole “jones wrestling” is coming from did they NOT see his last 2 fights? Both Santos and Reyes easily stopped his take down attempts. Gane is stronger than both of them and will be ready for the takedowns. On striking Gane made Alex Volkov look easy. Jones better get the takedowns or he is getting beat up in the striking.

    • @michaelthomas8147

That logic would make sense if Ngannou hadn't attempted and successfully scored a takedown in the fight right before that. If Gane wasn't thinking about the possibility of a takedown, then he doesn't think.

@@TheMMASensei Jones was credited with multiple takedowns against Reyes. As for Santos, he was credited with attempting a whopping....1 takedown. So he had two successful takedowns against one opponent and he barely tried taking down the other. These are weak examples.
