ok i am 2 minutes in, you rock, plain as that. You clearly bust your butt to create as good as a video as you can and your audio is great. So awsome to see the effort put into it from someone who isn't 16. Great job!!
I just bought a Crofton 6 qt French Oven for $29.99 at Aldi. After watching your video I went to the kitchen and re-inspected my purchase. This one has a wide bottom like the Le Creuset, wide handles that fit my larger hands and a solid fitting lid with the little knobs like the Staub. Herr's hoping the enamel finish holds up. Thanks for the video, I think I made a reasonable purchase.
Bought a cherry red Staub years ago I use it 2-3 times a week. Throw meat, veg and some broth in there and you have great healthy homecooked meals for days. Very easy and convenient. The enamled ones are much more costly but worth it imo so much less hassle.
I need assistance . I am having a hard time finding out with pots and pans I need for use. I found myself having all these different pots, pans, and gadgets that sometimes all for the same thing. Can you do like a review on must haves on pots and pans etc. I don’t know if you will read this comment or if this makes sense 😢
Hi Niesha! I totally get it, there are so many options for pots and pans. I'll do a video on mist have kitchen items, great idea. Thanks for the suggestion and thank you for watching!
Glad you popped up in my search. I am a new subscriber. This video was great. I just ordered a Dutch Oven and am trying to learn all about them. Thanks for the thoroughness of your information!
I am a huge Le Creuset collector (that I actually use not just collect). Love them!! Best there is in my opinion. By the way, your LC is not a classic French oven, but a shallow round oven 6.2 L 😊 if your lid is 30cm. That’s why the larger cooking surface area. The 5.3L DO is 26cm lid, so 26cm cooking surface.
I got 2 Kirkland Costco brand French ovens 6.5 qt and 8 qt oval. They were both on clearance at different times. About $60 total many years ago. I found out they are made by Staub. I always wondered why they called them French ovens.
Thank you for sharing! I want to purchase a dutch oven but have not decided on a brand. This was great to listen to all the facts about these dutch ovens.
Believe it or not, I just purchased 2 Crofton brand from Aldi's for 29 bucks, and they are amazing! There is no play in the lid and the dimples for moisture. Just came out yesterday. Run if you really want an even more affordable Dutch oven. ❤😊
YES! I love a good competition! Also if you can show us the various recipes you can use these ovens for. I can always use some inspiration! I have the Le Creuset, Staub and Lodge. Le C. Is my go to…Lodge is the best bargain ever…Staub is great in the oven. Hope this feedback helps. Love you…love your channel🥰❣️
I started out with raw cast (lodge) and enamel (lodge)…I then graduated to Le Creuset and Staub. I still love my raw much. I just dread seasoning the raw.
Thank you for the very informative video. I bought the Staub 4 quart dutch oven in your video a few years ago for $100.00. After researching enamaled dutch ovens, I found that European enamal is superior. If I find a Le Creuset for a good price I'll definitely purchase it.
I bought an Amazon 7 qt and it arrived chipped. Tried to return it but impossible to get to the ups store in my wheelchair. Stuck with it now. Does do a nice job of cooking down sauces and jams which is why I bought it. My other one is a 3.5 qt Imarku that is square. Much better than I expected. Bought it to replace the Corningware square casserole inherited from my parents. It broke when dropped. 50 years was a good run. The Imarku was dropped by my son at a distance of 5 ft on a concrete slab foo r. No chips cracks. Well worth the $49 paid for it.
Hey Sweet Savant. This was such an informative video. I love Dutch ovens. One day I will spend the money and get a Le Creuset, but for now, I am enjoying my Lodge. I have had my Lodge for years and I use it all the time. We “umm” at the exact same time when you showed the chip in your Cuisinart. It definitely shouldn’t be chipping in a couple months. Anyway, I love this video. Thank you for the great info.
Hello, my Friends! The Lodge is definitely a good buy, you can't beat the price. I will never pay full price for Le Creuset or Staub. I'd only buy it used like new on Amazon. They're way too expensive. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much...I learned a great deal. I am going to get a lodge to start...Is it by chance Induction ready? I have to use one that is.... Thanks again..:)
It's best to check with the manufacturer but the information I've read says that the Lodge Dutch oven works with induction cooktops. Thanks for watching
I just bought my first Dutch Oven to make crusty bread at WalMart, a Lodge 5.5 qt. for $39 on sale in Oyster. They also had a red and blue color. I've researched and Lodge had decent reviews whereas Cuisinart has a lot of chipping comments. LeCruset is just way out of my price range, though would love one! I really like your channel! You have a wonderful on camera presence!
Are you happy with the 5.5 qt Lodge from Walmart? I just got the Lodge she showed in the video for Christmas (same color and everything - so cute!) but I'm considering returning it and getting the Walmart one instead. The 6 qt with the rounded bottom is just so wide. I can't use the burner next to it when it's on the stove. I assume the 5.5 qt takes up less space since the walls are straight?
The Dutch ovens here in Alberta, Canada are up there over 200.00 for most of them some over 300 .00and some nearly 400.00./ I have two and use them weekly. Thanks for the information.
I recently bought one at Kroger for $20. A 3 quart. The brand is “A Dash Of That”. It’s entry level. But it’s my first one. I made Martha’s French onion soup from her channel in it. It came out great. Next I’m going to try bread. You do have to handle them gently, but so far so good. I do have a cast iron dutch oven (not enameled) if I need the big guns.
I bought the staub and the black enamel was chipping like there was a popcorn popping. I was very careful with it being my first real dutch oven but I was disappointed beyond words. I bought the Le Crueset instead and I subject it to the same heat and I must say that I couldn't have been more right.
So I have watched a few comparison reviews on the different Dutch Ovens and your review, like others, suggest that a wide, flat-bottomed pot is better because there's more pot surface touching the burner surface. I find that if a wider-based pot exceeds the dimensions of the burner; the heat is just radiating outward but in my case, using a Lodge, the heat is radiating outward and upward about the same distance. Also I like the rounded base of the Lodge pot because I am able to more easily scrape the food contents without having to struggle into corners. Having been around for 126 years Lodge has earned its right to be the industry standard.
Walmart sells Lodge and some have flat bottoms. I just bought one in 6.5 for turkey breast for $59. Oyster white. It has the bumps on the lid you referred to and great handles. I'm a petite woman and I had no problem lifting it from the oven. Just be careful not to slam it on your glass stovetop.
Hi! You mention in the description that you got le creuset from William sonoma for only 140! Do you know around what time of year they have these prices and clearance ?
I’m trying to reduce the number of pots/pans in my small kitchen, so I plan to replace an old stainless steel pot with the more versatile Dutch oven. Please do make that in depth review (Staub vs Le Creuset) that you suggested at the end of this vid. Thank you! 🙏
I bought a 2qt french oven from aldi's years ago just to try. And was sorry I didn't get the bigger one. But was thinking about investing in one from Rachel ray where the lid can double as a roasting pan. Cooking with them is addicting, its funny.
I absolutely love my Lodge 6 qt dutch oven. I find the rounded sides actually make it easier to brown meats for stews than the squared off sides. Mine has not chipped yet. I use this for almost everything. Have brasiers in Lodge too which have not chipped. I have a Staub 5 qt dutch oven in grenadine and I love the black interior of this brand. This is also the most beautiful of all my 20 enameled cast iron pans. I wouldn't give up my Staub red tomato for anything either. I have the Le Creuset in a griddle, grill, and 16' oval griddle and a 3.5 brasier. I prefer the Staub black interior to the sand color of the Le Creuset. I think the Staub black is also better than the Le Creuset black interior. But the Le Creuset cooks perfectly. My Cuisinart 9 qt dutch oven may have small chip; the 12 in non stick chicken fryer has not chipped. And I love every one of the other enameled cast iron pans too. Some of the others have gotten small chips in them but at least not large. But they were cheaper off brands. My Matha Stewart 7 qt has not chipped yet and the lid fits perfectly. Basiclcally I buy these pans for their colors and I try to take good care of them as I keep most of displayed in my kitchen.
You make a lot of great points, Carol. I must agree that the Lodge Dutch oven is a great value for the price and works great. I was very disappointed with the Martha Stewart Dutch oven but I'm sure they're not all like that. Thanks so much for watching!
Can you please do a video comparaison for ninja foodi air fryer dual zone vs ninja foodi grill. Which one to buy? I’m not sure what to choose. Thanks for all your videos 💐
Thanks for the explanation. I bought my 1st one a couple of months ago. 7qrt 50% off at Kohl's department store. Only thing I don't like is how heavy it is
I realize I've been mispronouncing these brand names 😂 Thank you for this video. I want to purchase my first dutch oven but had no idea where to start.
Thank you for this very informative video. You are very detailed. I use to have an cast iron pan, but I gave it to my sister because it was to heavy for me to work with 😄 the Martha stewart is very pretty 😊 tfs, happy fall 🍁🍂🌾🤗💕💋
Hello, it's great to see you! Yes, these are very heavy, especially when they are full of food. There are some aluminum Dutch Ovens that are lighter weight. They don't retain heat as well but that might be a necessary trade off. Thanks so much for watching ♥️
I looked at the Le Creuset in the store and I saw that the enamel leaves out the surface where the pot and the lid touched. It looks like that part has no enamel at all. Having seen that and knowing my husband tends to put everything in the dishwasher without thinking, I’m afraid he might kill it in no time. Staub, on the other side, is sold as dishwasher safe (not ghat I’d ever try to really put it in). What’s your experience?
Thank you for such an informative video! I was gifted a Cuisinart Dutch oven for Christmas, but I’ve never used one before. Found you while searching online for recipes I could try. Really excited to get to know my new piece better now! Maybe some day I will upgrade if I like using it. Gonna bake bread tomorrow :)
@@marykay8587 I’ve baked lots of bread in it with varying levels of success, but my favorite thing to make so far is stew! I absolutely love it😁 thanks for asking!
Hi thank you for the info I just purchased one for the first time, and I love it, is the Macy’s brand I paid 50.00 for the 4 quart and have the little round ball 11:28 on the lid like the Le Creuse
I have a uno casa brand cast iron double Dutch oven, brand new for $5.00 from an auction. In a box unopen. The box is in good shape not beat up it clean looking. So im going to open it the next day to see .
WOW a $5 cast iron pan? I'm very interested in hearing about the auction process and the condition of the Pan. Please come back to update me when you open it. Thanks for watching!
@@sweetsavant this was a local auction Hays Auction on a Tuesday it has upscale items to bid on. Furniture, lamp, pictures, mirrors, DVDs CDs cookware and box lots were you can get a box with things cheap to look threw, nobody really wanted. That auction been around for years since 1972. The cast iron dutch oven has rubber pot holders for both sides and also a rubber round bottom, the rubbers are separate, I guess like yours in the picture. This is my first to get it that cheap and it's New old stock. I hope this helps you to know more the auction and the cast iron dutch oven. Take care 🙏
They are pricey so look for sales. If you shop on Amazon check for used like new for discounts. I've had very good results with that event with Staub and Le Creuset. Thanks for watching!
I got a Lodge pot at the grocery store on sale for $60…three months later the enamel on the lid chipped and the piece dropped in the sauce I was making.😢. I threw it away and cook without a French/Dutch oven.
I'm here to stay just because of the way she was "catching" the pots lol. Great intro sis 👏 lol

Really excited to get to know my new piece better now! Maybe some day I will upgrade if I like using it. Gonna bake bread tomorrow :)
hey did you try the French oven yet? did you like cooking with it? what did You make with it?
@@marykay8587 I’ve baked lots of bread in it with varying levels of success, but my favorite thing to make so far is stew! I absolutely love it😁 thanks for asking!
You can do a lot with one of these. I’ll get one once I get a bigger house.
I just picked up a Cuisinart 7 qt at HomeGoods for 50 bucks ...
Hi thank you for the info I just purchased one for the first time, and I love it, is the Macy’s brand I paid 50.00 for the 4 quart and have the little round ball 11:28 on the lid like the Le Creuse
Are those white or cream Le Creusets?
Take care 🙏
Is lecruset pots oval? Here in India we are getting oval casserol pots (as they are calling it)
Nice!
Cool, it's a level up a rice pot.
God bless.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉GREAT
I am wondering if anyone has experience with the new Lodge USA made?
I haven't tried it yet but it's definitely on my list! Thanks for watching
I've wanted a French oven for a long time but they are expensive. I'll break down and get one soon.
They are pricey so look for sales. If you shop on Amazon check for used like new for discounts. I've had very good results with that event with Staub and Le Creuset. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that.
Have you ever had a Dutch oven?
I got a Lodge pot at the grocery store on sale for $60…three months later the enamel on the lid chipped and the piece dropped in the sauce I was making.😢. I threw it away and cook without a French/Dutch oven.
Oh my! That's terrible
What color is the blue??
Hello! I believe this blue color is Marseille if I remember correctly. Thank you for watching
I want one
How many Dutch ovens do you have girl! Lol 😆
Way too many, Ron 🤣
@@sweetsavant I don't blame you! I have a few myself, plus I just bought a LeCreuset 5.5 quart for my wife! Christmas gift.
💖💖❤️❤️😍😍🥰🥰cute lady
These are so HEAVY, I love them but to lift them is too much.
A great Le Creuset knock off is Crumble, it’s about half the price
Thanks for that information! I'll check out Crumble Dutch ovens.
Remey to also state the merits of the enamelled pots as they can take a lot of abuse!
That's true. I do try to be gentle on them though because they can chip
I always believed the difference between a Dutch oven and French oven was the thread count.
Love this, so informative! Thank you!
