A few corrections : 1.There are a LOT more Hong Kong people than just 2000. 2. There are MANY Cantonese style restaurants and HK style cafes where you can taste authentic Hong Kong food. 3. Howick is sometimes jokingly called Chowick because so many HK people chose to live in and around that suburb in the '90s, so you can see so many HK people just by hanging around that area.
1. According to 2023 Census data there are about 3501 Hong Kong Chinese in New Zealaand and abour 2937 in Auckland. That is an increase from 222 and 162 in 2013 before we started telling everyone to select "Hong Konger", "Hong Kong Chinese", "Hong Kongese" in Census. There are many Hong Kongers who still tick "Chinese" and if we want a more accurante number, we will need more. 2. Yes there are MANY Cantonese style and Hong Kong Style cafe that aren't operated in Hong Kongers anymore. 3. Howick was called Chowick because of the number of "Chinese" living in the area, which included Taiwanese. I remembered being shown a house in Howick in the 90s when we were house hunting. This is no longer the case. Many Hong Kongerse may still have a house in Howick but it is either sold or rented out. Unlike Mainland Chinese tehre is no one space that is more cncentrated. Bevan是在香港出生長大的道道地地香港人
1996年隨著家人一起移民來到紐西蘭
當時可以選擇去英國、新加坡和澳洲
因為媽媽超喜歡紐西蘭於是全家便住了下來
一轉眼Bevan來到紐西蘭也28年的時間
從高中讀書到大學到在這裡工作就業
今天就讓她來聊聊
以她一個過來人的身份
紐西蘭究竟適不適合香港人移居？
香港人如果移民到紐西蘭又該保有怎樣的一個心態呢?
我香港出生，住咗喺英國五十年，覺得英國人太快，尤其是踢足球同打高爾夫球, 其他工作速度啱啱好。

We also immigrated to NZ at end of 1996. Yes, we like NZ because of the weather, scenery, culture, cost of living. Less discriminate than Australia.
我在紐西蘭的那幾年，1993-1998，走在Queen St.，亞洲人10人大概有七個是台灣人跟香港人。
在Howick就90%是台灣人或是香港人。
90年代台灣作家出了一本書叫出走紐西蘭，聽說售出一百萬冊，之後吸引了大量台灣人移民紐西蘭。
十分明智97年前已經移民，現在香港沒有民主自由和壓力很大的地方，不值得留戀

Bevan Chuang 很有名的，十多年前在市議會工作時與已婚的市長 Len Brown 搭上，兩人在辦公室內超火辣，關係維持達兩年，為了愛可謂義無反顧.....加油哦

香港噶朋友好可能以为纽西兰移民好难，因为纽西兰冇为香港人特别指定一些优惠的措施，其实系错的，纽西兰国家细，时时怕得罪中国，所以对接收香港人唔似加拿大澳洲英国咁张扬，但系内部估计系有共识的，香港人不妨尝试直接过嚟申请，我是相信移民局对香港人会作出特别的安排，五眼联盟的价值观和做法，我觉得应该值得信任。
紐西蘭政府對香港人沒有特別的安排， 不像澳洲。目前紐西蘭政府對於中國還是處於小心的態度， 在紐西蘭沒有什麽優勢啊
