Making it to 90 years of age back in the early 1800s is a milestone in itself
It was more common than you think. The average life expectancy was dragged down significantly by deaths at birth and kids died from diseases more often.
There were plenty of people who still lived long lives
@@central3425 ....Still !
Modern medicine, discovery and better understanding of diseases, and antibiotics will do that.
It wasn't all that unusual that the average life expectancy down was how hard it was to survive childhood. And if you were a woman, childbirth. If you did that then if you were a member of the Upper middle classes or upper class then your chances of reaching late 70s early 80s were pretty good. Average age at death of a population doesn't necessarily tell you too much about how long an individual would live.
@@ganrimmonim Class was key. Today people often think that old-time peasant life was a gift from heaven (organic everything...) but it wasn't. 90 years ago my grandfather worked in villages that were 100% tuberculosis infected and/or 100% syphilis infected. Very fee people made it past 40. They never saw their grandparents. For good or for bad, all the area was flooded and is now deep below reservoir waters.
I think its amazing that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on the same day (July 4th) 50 years after the signing of the declaration of independence in 1776
Yeah, spooky, ain't it.
Dec of Independence was completed on July 4th, all the men being in the same room together to sign it (like the famous painting depicts) is a fallacy
@@thejquinn So what?
@@mrschuyler Its skewing history, thats what
@thejquinn it was signed on the 2nd. It was made public, declared, on the 4th.
The numbering of the Presidents was off after a while. Grover Cleveland was both the 22nd and 24th President.
Since his two terms were not back to back, he gets the title of being 22nd and 24th. If president has two in a row, he only gets one presidental term.
no its 2 CONSECUTIVE termS
@@RoyalMela
yeah but he only died once. so how could he be on the list twice
Then they should have indicated he was both 22nd and 24th to not mess up the final numbering. Biden is technically the 46th POTUS.
Yeah, the game show host was 45. Numbering is off.

The fact that Jimmy carter is still alive is a miracle

Still he has the record of oldest living President. Biden is 18 years behind him and Clinton, Bush, and Trump 22 years. And Obama is 37 years behind.
im worried about him
it seems like its over
Even though I didn't care for Jimmy Carter as a president, I hope he makes it to his 100th birthday.
Jimmy Carter has proven himself as a good Christian man but he was a terrible President. His economic policy only helped the banks.
Same. He turned into a badass after 1980.
He's as old as my grandmother
Yeah that’s really gonna change your life isn’t it?
At least we didn't bomb anybody when he was president
James K. Polk, the 11th President of the United States, did not die from an overdose. He died of cholera morbus, a term used in the 19th century to describe acute gastroenteritis. This illness, often caused by contaminated water or food, led to severe diarrhea and dehydration, which were the primary causes of his death. His health had been declining for some time, and his death came just a few months after leaving the presidency in 1849. There is no historical evidence to suggest that his death was due to an overdose of any substance.
came here to say this. I did a project on him in elementary school because I am allegedly a distant relative of his so still remember most stuff about him.
What he said ☝ no overdose
Thanks for adding the flags in the top left of each president, that way I can make sure where they are from!
LOL
Pierce literally drank himself to death. He never got over witnessing the gruesome death of his young son and turned to drink from that day forward.
No father wants to see their kids die before them, and if was gruesome, all the more.
There is no cause of death named "alcoholic" instead it damages your liver due to alcohol poisoning
Probably our most depressing president. Had to watch all of his kids die young, his wife was just a shell of a human for the rest of her life, and he spent his last few years alone in his house drinking all day.

Herbert Hoover and James Buchanan and Biden worst presidents
In many respects, being a one term president may have contributed to his longevity. Second terms have been rough on most every president who's gotten reelected in my lifetime.
It blows my mind that from Adams to Van Buren, only Jackson failed to reach 80, but then no one would eclipse 80 again until Hoover. The average presidential lifespan actually dropped as the 19th century went on. Weird.
Bigger cities.denser urban population.more immigration from poorer countries and more disease.the mid 19th century and not just the U.S.A there was more fatal diseases that would kill you until medical practices improved at the turn of the 19th century
More pollution in the late 19th century when America became more industrialized.
@@AndyFurze😂😂😂
there's too many variables. Living a long time doesn't mean you're healthy.
Van Buren died at 79
- Polk had cholera
- Jefferson had diarrhea, toxemia, and uremia, as well as pneumonia
- Garfield, to be more specific, seemed to be recovering following the shooting, and then septic shock from the doctors’ procedures set in (Guiteau was hanged)
- McKinley had gangrene from the stomach wound that set in (Czolgosz was electrocuted)
- JFK was killed instantly (Oswald was shot in the stomach by Jack Ruby)
- Nixon seemed to be recovering after his stroke until cerebral edema did him in
- Ford had CAD resulting from atherosclerosis
- Carter has advanced melanoma that is likely to kill him before he turns 100 sadly. Because of his wife’s passing, he will not last much longer.
- Reagan had Alzheimer’s disease that led to pneumonia. To clarify, Alzheimer’s primarily affects mental abilities, but late-stage Alzheimer’s affects the physical self, killing speech and movement. Oh, and he survived an assassination attempt like Roosevelt Sr.
That's why he's in hospice care. (Jimmy Carter)
His wife, Rosalynn was battling dementia.
Harrison and Buchanan both had pneumonia as well.
It's interesting how we can so matter-of-factly discuss these health matters of Presidents past, yet see so much denial about Biden's mental faculties for political reasons, not just by politicians, but in society at large, too. You'd think it would be worth honest, non-partisan discussion.
Washington died probability of Laryngitis phlegmonous, NOT Epiglottis.
@@johnwilburn well both him and trump. but with biden its weird., he can snap off jokes with short timing and most people with mental issues cannot do that
but both of them suffer from old mans disease. just rambling on about old stuff ...
Fun fact, John Adam's and Thomas Jefferson actually died on the same day. Only a couple hours apart
Garfield and McKinley did not die from the gunshot wounds. They both died from bad medical attention and bacteria from terrible sanitary medical procedures. Poor President Garfield suffered greatly for 80 days following the gunshot to his back.
Probably had the worst death of any president, with the only real competition being Ulysses S Grant
Or in McKinley’s case, no available treatment for the gangrene that set in from the initial gunshot. The one that lodged in his jacket they were right to remove
Garfield yes, McKinley no.
Granted medical knowledge was not as advanced
Well the gunshot wounds certainly helped kill them! It's not like the bad medical procedures would ever have been used had these presidents' assassins not pulled the triggers.
Jesus I was surprised when I saw the “still living” symbol on jimmy carter
I think James Garfield was killed by his medical treatment. I've read that if they'd left him alone or practiced better hygiene he'd have lived.
You have your history correct. Visit the Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, OH (near Cleveland) if possible. It is excellent.
Exactly correct.
Absolutely. There's a good book out there covering his presidency and the absolute mess that was the attempt to save him
Lack of sanitation caused blood poisoning.
Lincoln as well his doctors did more damage probing for the bullet than Booth did with his pistol.
Tomorrow (22nd of November) it's exactly 60 years ago JFK was killed! 😢
I think you mean 2 days
Why have you listed Kennedy as Assassinated, but Lincoln as Gunshot Wound? He was assassinated. That he died the next day as a direct result of being shot doesn’t change that.
Can't you read? Both were listed as gunshot wound. Some people are idiots like you, looking for a reason to be stupid.
I think its bcus doctors tried to save him as opposed to kennedy just having his head blown up
It's because Lincoln could have lived if it had been more recent times. But Kennedys head was pretty much blown up. Lincoln died as a result of his wound. Not the shot. Kennedy....well....
Because Kennedy was killed by the Jews for not giving them nuclear weapons and Lincoln was gunshot because he was a dictator working for the Jews.
@@JamieCarter-wv8rpReagan could have died from a gunshot wound of one of secret service agents hadn't noticed some blood dripping from him in the car.

This has been almost 60 years since Kennedy died.
It will be 60 years tomorrow, November 22, 2023.
To be more specific to the ones I know about, Grant's mouth cancer came from his 50 cigar a day habit, Garfield died from blood poisoning because the doctors were using unsanitary equipment, Mckinley had gangrene around the bullet wound, FDR's stroke was the result of a cerebral hemorrhage, and Reagan's pneumonia was a secondary factor. His true cause of death would have been alzheimer's

Sooo Abraham Lincoln died from a "gunshot wound" and JFK was "assassinated" thanks for clearing up the difference, hate to think THEY BOTH were "shot" to death🙄
The crazier part is that it says "assassinated" in the thumbnail for Kennedy, but "gunshot wound" in the video for all four assassinated presidents. The cause of death diagram also shows McKinley being hit in the head and Kennedy in the chest despite their assassins hitting them in the opposite targets.
0:34 james monroe was born in 1758, not 1751
Jimmy carter was the 39th, joe Biden is the 46th, trump the 45th, Obama the 44th
There's a numbering problem that starts with Grover Cleveland.
Since he served two non-consecutive terms, Congress determined that Presidential administrations must be unbroken. Since Cleveland served two SEPARATE four-year terms, each of those is considered to be a different administration.
Thus, by official decree he was both the 22nd and 24th President of the United States.
i was just getting ready to point that out
JFK was 35th president..
Dang you go Jimmy Carter the man with a strong heart 👏
Theodore Roosevelt was 60 not 61 at his death.
a lot of inaccuracies in this video. if you're going to make this list then make it right.

George H.W. Bush didn't die from Parkinson's- no one does although it can increase risk of death. He died from vascular Parkinson's disease which shares many but not all symptoms but, most importantly, can be the sole cause of death due to it's localized effects on the vascular system in the brain. It also tends to be caused by small strokes whereas typical Parkinson's seems to develop without an immediate cause
Actually, Parkinson's CAN be fatal if it affects the respiratory muscles and the patient cannot breathe.
