In medieval battles a lot of knights actually died of exhaustion, due to the weight of their armour, other drowned in the mud or were stamped to death. It was really hard to stab through armour, in fact knights would often use a technique of hitting their enemy with the hilt of the sword, because that was actually more effective, you could blind the knight by caving in the helmet, making it impossible to see out of that way. Arrows were kind of effective, but only if they hit light armoured areas or knocked knights down, other popular weapons like axes, maces, flails and variations of spears were used, spears to bring down cavalry and keep the enemy at a distance, although spears were usually used with peasants because it was a cheap yet semi effective way to arm large groups of militia quickly. The battle of Agincourt for example was actually won because the French got slowed down in the mud and were unable to fight properly due to the weight of their armour, which wasn't a problem for Henry the 5th who's men were mainly light armoured and able to move faster..

Secret ending: The protagonist follows matty and they end up getting thrown into the battle. They fight hard. But In the end they are overpowered, but the course of history is changed forever. They become legends and the history books remember them forever.
Best ending: The Battle was called off because everyone realized how useless battle was, Matty realized that the knight life wasn't for him but the night life was, the protagonist continued a life in battle but became the fist ever pacifist knight helping the wounded during and after battle, he ended up saving 15 knights and 17 ground men on both sides, after leaving the army both matty and the protagonist set up a charity for ex knight veterans and raised the equivalent of 100k pounds. They both got married with maids and had 5 kids each. They then later died to the black death.
Love this! the concept of a couple knights just being warm and supportive and relaxing before a potentially deadly battle is kinda cracking me up. Gonna fall asleep laughing.
