I actually had an ancestor named Thomas Oscar Wicker who immigrated from England to the colony of Virginia and was sold as an indentured servant to a man named Richard Aylisse and when his contract was over, his master refused to release him and give him what he had earned, so he took it to court and the court chose to rule in his favor, so he was able to receive his freedom and what he was owed.
